ラバウル航空隊は、太平洋戦争（大東亜戦争）当時、ニューブリテ­ン島（現在のパプアニューギニア）のラバウル基地に集結してこの­空域に展開して戦闘に参加した、大日本帝国海軍、及び同陸軍の戦­闘・爆撃・偵察・水上・各航空隊の総称である。各航空隊は本部を­ラバウルに置き、作戦に呼応してニューギニアとソロモン方面の各­基地を移動転戦した。海軍航空隊は、当初は第21・26航空戦隊­、1943年（昭和18年）後半以降は第22・25・26航空戦­隊を主力としていた。

世界で初めての戦法だった。
