Lack of Class? I thought her speech was funny and sympathetic. She was a bit too overwhelmed indeed, but who even cares about the speech? She was "f***ing" great in The Fighter and totally deserved that Oscar. That's what she worked for, and what she will be remembered for. :)
Melissa Leo is one of the best actresses working today. I remember her back on "All My Children," she was great even then and just gets better with time. Congrats to her for the well-earned Oscar nom for Frozen River!
I so agree with you...the media, most times, goes gaga over the most mediocre actors...Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie---even Brad Pitt etc. I could name more people -- alot more--but I don't want people to get mad at me...lol...although I like John Travolta as a person, I think he is awful....great in Saturday Night Fever, but sometimes I watch him and cringe. But that is just my opinion...please folks don't attack me!
Lol, have no fear, Shrina17. I won't judge you. Indeed you do have a point there. The so-called "hot" talents or sensations, such as the one you mentioned aren't always the best actors in the world. I've noticed that OCCASIONALLY, those people redeem themselves with a rare "critically acclaimed" performance, but again...occasionally. Just not often enough, lol
LOL!!! Thank you arayda58menace...I just hate giving an opinion (most times very nicely) and that rare person comes in for the kill and just goes nuts because they don't agree with me! You are right, by no means am I saying Brad Pitt and Angelina CAN'T act, but they act like they're ROYALTY...it just disgusts me at times...enough of me flabbing my gums...thanks so much...all the best to you!!!
No problem, Shrina17. I kinda try to think like a casting director when I look at these people..."who would be for this role if not this person" etc. For example when you mentioned Pitt, there...I think back to Troy ('04) and his role as Achilles. Certainly not my ideal choice as Achilles, I guess mainly because I see him playing modern day people. That's just my logic...
@plutoplatters LOL! I just read your reply now--haven't been on computer. I like what you said "just stay in PEOPLE magazine!" well said! All the best!

Great actress, no question. But that oscar speech and campaign underscores her painful lack of class.

It's called Contacts or Lasic. Good grief.

I loved her since that scene in 21 grams where she sees the blood on the front of the car...knew she was phenomenal!
