hey man that was class, not only could you do over 20, you used great form! pulling the knees up at the end, i find, is a good way of pushing the last few out, but i think that it's cheating... but like i say, it's useful. fair play, i think that your in the top tier of chinup fitness on youtube, but lucky for you there seems to be loads of people telling you how to improve...lol fucking keyboard warrior's advice!
these are great form! good job. Don't listen to these other fukin haters out there. None of them have a video of them doing them better. Be proud of your accomplishment :)
Actually whenever u work out its never recommended to lock ur joints. In other words never go to full extension since it creates useless stress on it leading to early overuse pain and all kinds of other shit. Just a physio's opinion =')
wat does jackstone mean wen he says about puttin ur thumbs on the otherside of the bar?dats very impressive,iv just started doing chin ups and i can just about manage 10?any tips for improving?i weigh about 72kg?
Great work mate. I noticed with most peoples exercise video's people try to find fault with them, or pinpoint little things to take the gloss of the video away (daft comments). Gets right on my nerves.
Keep up the good work, great strength there! You weigh around 170lbs?
but i have to say, it's not so perfect, becoz u swing too much the second half, and why not try a pause of about 1 sec each peak? u'll find it different & more effective
Chin-ups are with the palms facing in. Juc1812 is correct. 22 is pretty good. I have done 15 at the most. I used to do them all the time as a kid. I should do them more often. Great exercise. Good job.
oh and mcrdrummer if you can do a few chin-ups at a time, do it and do them often. I used to only be able to do about 5. I would do them every time I walked through my door into my room. I built up to doing reps of 10 every time then stopped for a while. Then I started back, doing reps of 10 often, a few weeks ago I was at 15 and now I am doing reps of 20 every time.
I have been doing pull ups (or chin ups, what is the difference?) for a while now. I don't like to do push-ups because I don't breath correctly while I do them. Yesterday I did 25 (palms toward myself) and this morning I did 22, palms facing away from myself.
My bar is low so I have to tuck my legs towards my body, I keep them spread to about shoulder width and have my shins parallel to the floor. It gives a lot of stability so I don't sway at all anymore.
these are chin ups. pull ups are with the finger looking outside... You can change the distance between hands,so will work different muscular groups. In this case I decided to do them like this.... Just to know: how many can you do??
I'd like the "chin-up community" to be able to compare achivements. I think we both agree that the quality of chin-ups varies, making them hard to compare. If we strive for absolute perfection or a de-facto and there by comparison, what is the performance of an ace like you? Please give it a try? I see if I can borrow a cam, and I try give you five as perfect as I can. PS! I urge my kids to do chin-ups too :-) PPS! You didn't notice my favourite zakaveli? He's scary!
No jumpstart for the first rep., just dead hang for one-two seconds, before the chin up phase. And legs completely straight during the reps, no jitterbug. And remember the dead hang before each lift. I seriously doubt you will be able to do more than 10 reps. perfectly done? :-)
I can see by your favorite videos that you are not in sport/gym, so plaease don`t speak about what you don`t know: Just enjoy the video. It is very easy to talk about everything... Post a video where you do at least 5 chin ups performed as well as I did, so we can start talking... I dont speak about your themes: piano, guitar etc as it is not my matter...
I did enjoy your video and has for certain no interest in you feeling hurtin'. Your deed is not an achievement for every one to acomplish and I'm, as I've allready stated, certainly not in your league. I hope you will accept my apology for my teaser and accept the statement/request in my next comment with open mind :-)
I disagree with the severity of your judgement. Yes, there is some leg movement, but look closely again. Unlike "kipping", he does not THROW his legs up and down for momentum. Rather, his legs raise only slightly and very slowly as he pulls up. As one who can do lots of these myself, I recognize this effect: moving one's legs out in front helps some people stop excessive swaying...there's no gain from momentum. In short, these pullups are definitely decent.
I agree, they're not thrown, just raised slowly as you state, thereby gaining lesser momentum. I'm sorry if I sounded too harsh. With no doubt, your're right, decent they are. Indeed! Still, the word perfect for me indicates a somewhat outstanding performance. (Now, look what I've got my self into..)
According to google and my dictionary, kipping is slang for sleeping in GB, Australia and South Africa. What does it mean in this context? Reg. the momentum: Wouldn't the momentum be the same? Slow yes, but induced over a longer period?
This is not bad and I'd wish I could do that. However, I do not agree with the ambitious claim of perfectly done! Your style is far better at the beginning than towards the end, where your arms tends not to be straight and your legs are brought into action as boosters for the much apreciated momentum.
Excellent! Few guys can do that many with such good form! Most guys who claim to do significantly more than 20 usually have terrible form, or they use kipping where the momentum carries them most of the way up. These are definitely decent chinups! Keep posting!
My thighs are fat, I'm only doin 15 straight chin ups perfectly. Slower the better :) 155, 6ft tall.

Good job, now add 10 kg to your bodyweight in a backpack or whatev and do 22. When you can do that, add another 10kg, and so forth. :)

scooniepenn 4 years ago
sort of. id say the first 8 or 9 because i could see him using his legs for leverage on some too, which isnt allowed in the marine fitness test.
still pretty good though.
Turmoyl 4 years ago
Yea thats about right. The worst thing is hearing the D.I.'s during the PFT: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,9,9,9.....Any Marine on here can testify to that.
