This was interesting to me because I was a Nintendo fanboy from the NES days through the GC. I'd never owned a Sony system before my PS3, but I'd collected A-list titles for $5 each from "secret sales." It made sense to buy a PS3 when I got an HDTV. I recognized that the trend I'd contributed to was a major factor in the format war. People would call me a "Sony fanboy" because their world makes no distinction between MS/Sony and HD-DVD/Blu-Ray. They really revealed themselves as MS fanboys.
Before owning a Sony system, I held no bias. I'd collected most of the major A-list titles. They weren't even reprints; most were sealed originals. Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, Dark Cloud 1/2, Kingdom Hearts 1/2, Sly 1/2, R&C series, God of War, Katamari 1/2, Devil May Cry, Okami, Disgaea, Megaman X series, Resident Evil series, etc...
...and I was never an MS hater. I spent so much money on games, it was a much better deal to have a great gaming PC. I often found KILLER deals on PC games and the experience was MUCH better than the 360 because I had the right hardware for it. I couldn't justify buying a 360 when the best titles are available on PC for much less money and the experience is superior.
Well... Sony has always been proud of their sound and visual quality. This is why I stick with them, Sony loves their customers. MS just shits on them.
Im not intentionally a Sony fanboy yet almost all my stuff is made by them lol. I have a PS3, a Sony DVD/VCR player combo (old but still kicking), a Sony camcorder, and just recently went to Walmart for a bedroom TV and wanted the Samsung model which looked amazing but found out it only had 1 hdmi port and no component hookups so i had to settle for the next best looking one on display, a Sony Bravia 32". I dont go looking for Sony, but they always find me. Best quality for the buck i guess.
@Riddler95 Model 2 - the top loader. I used to have a Model 1 Genesis, but it was stolen. When I got a replacement, the Model 2 was out, so I just got the model 2 of both components.
I know that this video is a year old but damn you need a big apartment. Yes I am in the same boat as you. I always had a better experience with the Playstation. Genesis was awesome, Nintendo was cool and 3DO was great.
I don't understand why people hate Sony. It's a great brand. 75% of the DVD players we've owned were Sony, and they were pretty much top notch players. They didn't shoot craps until about 8 years after assembly (only 2). Hell if we had extra money, we probably would've gotten a Sony BD player, but we got Samsung instead, which is still a great brand.

"Rise from your grave!" :D And one of my all time faves, Kid Chameleon. Now if only they would re-release Chakan: The Forever Man, I'd be a very happy camper indeed.

Yep, it was called the MegaDrive all over Europe as well. And the Sega CD was called the Mega CD. No idea why they had different names for it in different parts of the world...
It's a fine game system, the main reason I didn't go with either XBox was there just weren't a lot of games that really interested me as much. Plus I preferred having the extras features that the PS2 & 3 offered (DVD player, Blu-ray player, etc.)
I sure hope not, because we use it for all those things (and more) too! =O I had a similar concern when I used my PS2 for everything back in the day. So my solution was just to buy a standalone DVD player to share the load (and extend the life of my precious PS2). So we'll likely get a standalone Blu-ray player at some point too, once they come down in price a bit more. Although...looks like they might be breaking the $100 barrier a lot sooner than I thought...

That was an awesome camcorder, wasn't it? Specifically, it's the CCD F55 Handycam. That one actually belonged to a friend of mine, and he sent it to me as a gift when he got a better camera (I was camera-less at the time). My first camcorder was the F45, a model or two below that one. Not as many features, but still a solid camera. I made many a movie with my chums with that...until it got stolen.
Greeting, fellow Sega CD owner. I really loved that system, or add-on, whatever you want to call it, and still have it. Sewer Shark wasn't exactly great in my opinion though, but to each his own.
Sega CD really gets a bad rap, doesn't it? It wasn't THAT bad. It never really had any "killer apps," but it had some decent games. Plus it was my first real experience with CD-ROM games (yeah, my FRIEND had the Turbo Grafx CD system, but Sega CD was the first one I owned myself and actually played to any extent), so that makes it kinda special in my personal history.
Gamecubes are cheap as hell, I got a Gamecube + a controller for cheaper then an Official Gamecube controller would be separately. Don't bother with a Wii right now, wait until they are easier to find and cheaper. There are a few good games but the amount of great games on the Wii don't even compare to the PS3/360
The only people who are hatin' are 12 year olds who play nothing else than cod4 and halo 3. You know the ones who'd rather play sonic the disaster than super mario bros just based on the graphics difference. So fuc* you kids and grow some pubes
Hey, I was an Amiga freak! It was actually the third Amiga system of any kind that I owned. Prior to that, I had 2 Amiga 500's and an Amiga 2000HD. Still got those, but wound up selling the CD32 when I was short on food money during some hard times...
Bummer. As a an english guy the amiga was huge here so I had a 500 at the time. I did love the system (you had the broadest range of videogaming any where). And with game demos so the honest user can play an insane amount of stuff and piracy for every one else. Wish I still had the boxes for some of the rarer games I own. I keep meaning to a video looking at some of the overlooked games.
Sony is a good company so even if you were a fanboy it wouldn't be such a bad thing. I'm so glad to see so many videos done by you in such a short period of time by the way.
You can play gamecube games on the wii,and you can download classic games from the nes ,snes,n64,megadrive,turbographics,neo geo,commadore and mastersystem useing the shop channel ,so for the older gamer the wii is very good for blasts from the past !,get the resident evil remake of the original game for the gamecube ,its a horror masterpiece!.
You may or may not know, but just to save you the money from having to buy two seperate consoles, GameCube games are playable on the Wii, and the Wii is also compatible with GameCube controllers.

You know Sean....well, who am I kidding, you of all people would know this, but I'm just making sure -- the Wii plays Gamecube games. It's like a Wii and a Gamecube in one. Personally I just want the dirt cheap Gamecube, because I've enjoyed the games on it much more than the games on the Wii thus far.

I know, but would I rther spend 25 bucks on a Gamecube to play Gamecube games or...200 bucks on a Wii to play Gamecube games? I have a feeling if I get a Wii I'd be playing more old school games on it than Wii games, so I think I'll just go the cheaper route for now. Isamu just got a hella good deal on a Gamecube system and a pile of awesome games for it. I is jealous!

One thing you need no matter how much money you have - a Mac!!! Sell that pc and get a mac, even older macs are good (and I got one free from school) lol! Oh an eMacs are great, and only like a hundred bucks on ebay. Nice!! lol

A lot of pre-teens call me a "n00b" all the time in the comments of my video game videos, so the "young'uns" comments were mainly directed toward them. I actually have no idea why we have an overhead projector...lol! Annetta grabbed it at a garage sale for some reason.

this is a great video. I have become reacquainted with Nintendo as well and I'm picking up a Wii in the next few months as well.
I found it interesting when you show your old busted Sony Camcorder because during the 1990's I had the exact same Camcorder.

That was an awesome camcorder, wasn't it? Specifically, it's the CCD F55 Handycam. That one actually belonged to a friend of mine, and he sent it to me as a gift when he got a better camera (I was camera-less at the time). My first camcorder was the F45, a model or two below that one. Not as many features, but still a solid camera. I made many a movie with my chums with that...until it got stolen.

Greeting, fellow Sega CD owner. I really loved that system, or add-on, whatever you want to call it, and still have it. Sewer Shark wasn't exactly great in my opinion though, but to each his own.

Sega CD really gets a bad rap, doesn't it? It wasn't THAT bad. It never really had any "killer apps," but it had some decent games. Plus it was my first real experience with CD-ROM games (yeah, my FRIEND had the Turbo Grafx CD system, but Sega CD was the first one I owned myself and actually played to any extent), so that makes it kinda special in my personal history.

Gamecubes are cheap as hell, I got a Gamecube + a controller for cheaper then an Official Gamecube controller would be separately. Don't bother with a Wii right now, wait until they are easier to find and cheaper. There are a few good games but the amount of great games on the Wii don't even compare to the PS3/360

Hey, I was an Amiga freak! It was actually the third Amiga system of any kind that I owned. Prior to that, I had 2 Amiga 500's and an Amiga 2000HD. Still got those, but wound up selling the CD32 when I was short on food money during some hard times...

Bummer. As a an english guy the amiga was huge here so I had a 500 at the time. I did love the system (you had the broadest range of videogaming any where). And with game demos so the honest user can play an insane amount of stuff and piracy for every one else. Wish I still had the boxes for some of the rarer games I own. I keep meaning to a video looking at some of the overlooked games.

I forgot to mention that to play gamecube games on the wii you will need a gamecube controler and a gamecube memory card.

You can play gamecube games on the wii,and you can download classic games from the nes ,snes,n64,megadrive,turbographics,neo geo,commadore and mastersystem useing the shop channel ,so for the older gamer the wii is very good for blasts from the past !,get the resident evil remake of the original game for the gamecube ,its a horror masterpiece!.

You may or may not know, but just to save you the money from having to buy two seperate consoles, GameCube games are playable on the Wii, and the Wii is also compatible with GameCube controllers.
