Took all day (9am-7pm)

The 40k table finished at 3pm but got recycled because Chaos lost so badly.

The epic table got 2 turns finished (but that was mainly due to both sides being over cautious when playing)

The BFG table got a fair way in, but the first ships had only just reached planetary bombardment range when we had to stop.

Needed another day really.

Any advice for making a Adeptus Mechanicus army, for Epic armageddon?

Concentrate on what kind of army you have in mind (titan heavy, tank heavy, etc). Once you have that in mind, it should be easier to collect. Old imperial robots from the original guard sprues make good skitarii, reavers and warlords are regular all over ebay, and imperial knights (plastic ones anyway) are normally a good solid buy - and shouldnt make your wallet cry. Think of the Admech as titan heavy guard and you wont go far wrong :)

Washes are worthwhile and drybrushing can help a lot with painting a large amount of minis quickly. Depends a bit what factions your minis are (necrons are a lot simpler than Eldar for instance!)

Which one? There's Epic Armageddon, 40k, and Battlefleet gothic. All are, to a greater or lesser degree, available from games workshop. With BFG and Epic you can even download the rules for free from their specialist games website.
