This scene is based on a real controversy. There are no inscriptions on view in the Pyramids of Giza. Colonel Vyse did find quarry labels in the upper relieving chambers above the king's burial chamber, including Kufu's name, (having had to dig a tunnel to discover these chambers) but could not have faked them, despite what conspiracy theorists say. Even Graham Hancock has admitted this now. Khufu of the Fourth Dynasty definitely built the Great Pyramid.

what about the sphinx? Did they build the sphynx?

I highly doubt it. The sphinx shows signs of heavy rain damage making it way older then the fourth dynasty.
