  • Excellent accompaniment!

  • This crazy song is as powerful now as it was 43 years ago when it was first recorded. Fine, fine guitar - one of the greatest rock riffs of all time! Only The Captain could sing like that - where did he get that voice - maybe it was 60 Marlboroughs a day? Who is the cat on the video editor - Marcel Duchump or Salvador Dollars-Bali - correct spellings if anyone tries to get clever!

Tom for Duc de la Luc Roc-Focould

  • standing on the porch of the lido hotel floozies in the lobby love the way i smell ,,,simple ,great awsome lryics

  • zappa is a beast listen to this solo

  • génial !!!!!!!!! et plus encore

  • There's not such good music today ! RIP FZ & DVV, and fuck off Lady Gaga and all that crap !

  • I could listen to that opening riff for the rest of my life.

    So badass.

  • Obviously Frank does all the hard work on this incredible piece of music, but it wouldn't have the same feeling or imagery had the Captain not put the vocals to the first two minutes of it. The guitar makes us see Willie the Pimp and the world he inhabits so clearly but only because the Captain set the scene. How good is 5:05-6:00?

  • R.I.P. : the boys of Lancaster, CA ...Frank & Don

  • 2 Genius Artist, R.I.P. Frank and Don, great song (best song ever),

  • RIP, Don.

  • Rip Frank and Don.

  • RIP Captain Beefheart

  • RIP CAPTAIN BEEFEART

  • Just heard the news that Captain Beefheart died today (December 17) due to complications from multiple sclerosis. Rest in peace, Captain.

  • GOOD NIGHT SWEET PRINCES

  • this is a fuck awesome song

  • This sounds like sumthin u would hear when you walk into a pool bar.

  • such a treat, such a loss: bof 'em ♥

  • Definitely incredible

  • Definitely incredible

  • Fantastic pairing or Brothers Quay and Zappa! So appropriate considering the animated "Baby Snakes" piece. Good one!

  • im pimp holla girls at the boy

  • The Best of the best!

  • "Willie the pimp" is kind of religion 4 those who knows about

Zappa, Beefheart and how 2 feel in those days!! So,that's it!!

  • simply awesome. Now I know where Tool gets their music video style

  • classic song from " Hot rats " (1970)

  • You are bunch of absolute cunts. Why don't you fuck off and die. This is an amazing fucking track and doesn't need you dickholes talking about "ooo, I was on loads of drugs". Bunch of twats. Get a fucking life. I bet you all smell like clunge. I hate you people.

  • phenomenal use of the word clunge, if I may say so.

  • YES YES FUCKING YES....

  • I am behind you man 100%.

  • You're an idiot. Smoke some weed and chill. It makes it sound so much better.

  • This damn dumb dada discussion is doo-doo.

  • dada doo doo good one:)

  • hahaha, dude.... WHAT?

  • genius

  • is this taken from the CD or Vinyl mix?

  • Do see the brilliant short films by the Quay brothers, especially Street of Crocodiles

  • dirrrrrrrrrrty!!!

  • Dada? I don't think so, though it is plenty trippy.

  • the video I mean....

  • Even so, Dada refers to an art movement where art was used to kill itself through expression (like when Duchamp took a urinal and labeled it a "fountain"), so how are these series of animations Dada (the two dudes fighting and ripping off each other's limbs is not Dada, so screw that notion)? Again, this video is just trippy.

  • zappa is not "trippy"...."trippy" is concerned more with psichedelic music...

zappa music was a mix of dadaist way of expressing, fusion and rock...

    .

  • dude your retarded, some of zappa's music is VERY trippy "trippy" means really anything that sounds crazy while your tripping or gives you certain visuals while on a trip...take some acid listen to this song and then say its not trippy lol

  • read my messages... I did not say "the song is dada", I said "the video is dada"...

    get it??..

  • Do you really need acid. Listen to the music without drugs, it's miraculously better.

  • I have. I've listened to it while sober and while tripping; it is infinitely better when tripping, as is most music. I don't use LSD to enjoy this music as it is beautiful in itself; I merely use acid to enhance it. Nothing wrong with that, man. :)

  • Now that we're past the politically correct thing to say... and probably the CORRECT thing to say...

    Wut?

  • you tell em gassy

  • You don't need drugs to watch this or to listen to this song to truly appreciate it. Zappa wrote all of his songs without the influence of drugs, he was a schizo instead. He was also a genius and knew that music doesn't have rules and he knew that experimental didn't mean random noises. Zappa was able to turn the weirdest noises into music. He skinned music down to it's true form, sounds. It doesn't have to come from an instrument to sound good! Anyways I digress.

  • DADAISM is when art expresses with a nonsense sequence of ideas, that in Frank Zappa can be led by a main meaning related with his sytirical spirit...

an example can be the strange transformations of the kids brain in the robot's hands,or the chair that flies undere the man's arse......

  • Still what most people don't know about the Duchamp urinal was that it was signed "R. Mutt" and the word Armutt in German means, "ambition". And when you learn that ambition is associated in the Freudian text with urethral erotism, then you get something that's not entirely a joke.

Even so, fucktards, "DADA" is what happens when my fist trippy trips and ends up in your ass. That's why they worship my tit in Africa.

  • Read Maddox much, mmpresti? Still, this video is not Dada, and visuals can be trippy without tying to psychedelic music, which is why people watch Fantasia while high. And didoleiibniz91, you can suck a dick for not knowing anything; I wasn't debating Zappa's music, so stick with the argument at hand. You said the video was Dada, and clearly, you're wrong.

  • Conroy or Everette? This video has elements of dada, as Svankmajer's opening clip. Most of what Svankmajer does however is surrealist and just plain puppetry. I think this entire conversation can be trippy without having anything to do with my ambition or which urinal I choose to piss meaning into.

  • Dada? I'm not saying u'r wrong' I'm asking, where the fuck they get "DADA" from other than some retarded pot head who's half asleep looking at this going DADA. Just asking

  • who 'r u????

  • Sum retard. Dada's a new artform name ive never ever herd uv.

  • strange.......it's very famous

frank zappa was very influnced by this

  • Dada's been around for the better part of a century, dude.

  • marvellous!!it's so dada!!!

  • isn't this all svankmajer and the Brothers quay stuff?

    dig the Zappa though...

  • The guitar solo in this song can't be touched. Best 60s guitar solo, and best album of the sixties(Hot Rats).

  • i agree. when i got into the Hot Rats album i immediately went out to a guitar teacher. he said he could teach me to play any solo i wanted. i said Frank Zappa - Willie the Pimp. I gave him a copy and he stopped giving out lessons two weeks later. I never did learn it but I now play bass instead. scott tunis being one of my influences.

  • He was expecting Iron Man?

Naaaah... Smoke on the Water... :P

('course them're great songs in their own right.)

    Cheers!

  • Lol, don't know if it's the hardest, I could play something similar to it by studying this song enough, but it's still one of the best solos out there. You hear so much personality in his soloing, unlike with some musicians, whose solos sound like generic cliches.

  • @silverinkjet The guitar solo is good but Free Bird is best by a long shot.

  • @firegecko12356 in your opinion,not mine

  • @firegecko12356 YEah... Perhaps. If one is inbred, southern, and calls his sister "mommy". In that case, I can see your point. To the rest of the world that happens to think (and matter), Zappa rules. To most guitarists that meet the "happen to think and matter" criteria previously mentioned, Zappa is a virtuoso player, of which there are only a few of per generation.

Go back to your dumbed-down Skynyrd rubbish. Leave the adult music to the adults. You won't have to look and feel ignorant.

  • @firegecko12356 (roll eyes here). Yeah. By a long shot. (/end sarcasm). You are clearly on the wrong YouTube channel. One that clearly exceeds your conceptual continuity. The crux of the biscuit is this... Zappa isn't for everyone. If'n, Gomer, you happen to call your sister "mother", then this isn't for you and you need to go put on a Skynyrd CD. Go listen to what corporate media tells you to... like the drone you were meant to be. Can't stop the slime. Stay away from intelligence in music!

  • LONG LIVE THE MOJAVE DESERT

  • what is that song at the last few seconds of the video

  • zAPPA AND THE mUFFIN mAN.....KEWL!

  • great song and the animation is interesting

  • the fact that zappa and beefheart collaborated gives me a huge boner

  • BONGO FURY

  • zappa was rap before rap was even around

  • umm...wtf

  • great!great!great!fucking great!

  • This should be on the radio instead of that rap shit.

  • Well, I agree it should be on the radio, but rap is cool too.

  • yeah, too bad it's the cool rap that doesn't get much airplay

  • Is the Vinyl version or the CD version? I'm asking because I heard that the CD version was remixed or something.

  • it doesn't sound like my vinyl version ;)

  • I haven't heard this record before. But i do love zappa's music. You will never find anyone who sounds like zappa

  • i love how random and trippy this is classic zappa

  • this music is by far some of the best a creative mind

  • i love this song but whats it about

  • Could it be, a PIMP named WILLIE?

  • NO WAY!!!!!!!

usally zappa songs have a deeper meaning then the title.

  • Beefheart songs are chock-full of meaning, as well.

  • More so than Zappa's stuff, I'd say.

There's meanings, and conventions with all of those experimental freeform absurdity, but I wouldn't call loads of Zappa's tunes "deep"... he wrote that Michael Jackson song based on what a girl on television said: "he ugly; he's all white."

They're eagerly fun to understand how they were formed, but I wouldn't go into huge detail about it... I mean, "G-Spot Tornado", are you honestly going to search far and wide on what it supposedly means?

  • ?????

  • this is a video made by me and stolen by zapateers who added their own credits to it and made out they had a brain cell between them.

  • What happened to the version you had uploaded?

  • One of the best jazz/rock songs ever made! HOt Rats is a great album.. The animation is cool, kinda "Tool"-ish :P

  • Not heard this since about 70, Hot rats, not too shabby

  • Love it,Frank and the Captain,what a team!

  • could dance to that in any state of mind

  • excellent video, for an excellent rock perform

  • I like it. great animation. are you related to franz kafka? or his fan?

    love - drab
