This crazy song is as powerful now as it was 43 years ago when it was first recorded. Fine, fine guitar - one of the greatest rock riffs of all time! Only The Captain could sing like that - where did he get that voice - maybe it was 60 Marlboroughs a day? Who is the cat on the video editor - Marcel Duchump or Salvador Dollars-Bali - correct spellings if anyone tries to get clever!
Obviously Frank does all the hard work on this incredible piece of music, but it wouldn't have the same feeling or imagery had the Captain not put the vocals to the first two minutes of it. The guitar makes us see Willie the Pimp and the world he inhabits so clearly but only because the Captain set the scene. How good is 5:05-6:00?
You are bunch of absolute cunts. Why don't you fuck off and die. This is an amazing fucking track and doesn't need you dickholes talking about "ooo, I was on loads of drugs". Bunch of twats. Get a fucking life. I bet you all smell like clunge. I hate you people.
Even so, Dada refers to an art movement where art was used to kill itself through expression (like when Duchamp took a urinal and labeled it a "fountain"), so how are these series of animations Dada (the two dudes fighting and ripping off each other's limbs is not Dada, so screw that notion)? Again, this video is just trippy.
dude your retarded, some of zappa's music is VERY trippy "trippy" means really anything that sounds crazy while your tripping or gives you certain visuals while on a trip...take some acid listen to this song and then say its not trippy lol
I have. I've listened to it while sober and while tripping; it is infinitely better when tripping, as is most music. I don't use LSD to enjoy this music as it is beautiful in itself; I merely use acid to enhance it. Nothing wrong with that, man. :)
You don't need drugs to watch this or to listen to this song to truly appreciate it. Zappa wrote all of his songs without the influence of drugs, he was a schizo instead. He was also a genius and knew that music doesn't have rules and he knew that experimental didn't mean random noises. Zappa was able to turn the weirdest noises into music. He skinned music down to it's true form, sounds. It doesn't have to come from an instrument to sound good! Anyways I digress.
Still what most people don't know about the Duchamp urinal was that it was signed "R. Mutt" and the word Armutt in German means, "ambition". And when you learn that ambition is associated in the Freudian text with urethral erotism, then you get something that's not entirely a joke.
Even so, fucktards, "DADA" is what happens when my fist trippy trips and ends up in your ass. That's why they worship my tit in Africa.
Read Maddox much, mmpresti? Still, this video is not Dada, and visuals can be trippy without tying to psychedelic music, which is why people watch Fantasia while high. And didoleiibniz91, you can suck a dick for not knowing anything; I wasn't debating Zappa's music, so stick with the argument at hand. You said the video was Dada, and clearly, you're wrong.
Conroy or Everette? This video has elements of dada, as Svankmajer's opening clip. Most of what Svankmajer does however is surrealist and just plain puppetry. I think this entire conversation can be trippy without having anything to do with my ambition or which urinal I choose to piss meaning into.
Dada? I'm not saying u'r wrong' I'm asking, where the fuck they get "DADA" from other than some retarded pot head who's half asleep looking at this going DADA. Just asking
i agree. when i got into the Hot Rats album i immediately went out to a guitar teacher. he said he could teach me to play any solo i wanted. i said Frank Zappa - Willie the Pimp. I gave him a copy and he stopped giving out lessons two weeks later. I never did learn it but I now play bass instead. scott tunis being one of my influences.
Lol, don't know if it's the hardest, I could play something similar to it by studying this song enough, but it's still one of the best solos out there. You hear so much personality in his soloing, unlike with some musicians, whose solos sound like generic cliches.
@firegecko12356 YEah... Perhaps. If one is inbred, southern, and calls his sister "mommy". In that case, I can see your point. To the rest of the world that happens to think (and matter), Zappa rules. To most guitarists that meet the "happen to think and matter" criteria previously mentioned, Zappa is a virtuoso player, of which there are only a few of per generation.
Go back to your dumbed-down Skynyrd rubbish. Leave the adult music to the adults. You won't have to look and feel ignorant.
@firegecko12356 (roll eyes here). Yeah. By a long shot. (/end sarcasm). You are clearly on the wrong YouTube channel. One that clearly exceeds your conceptual continuity. The crux of the biscuit is this... Zappa isn't for everyone. If'n, Gomer, you happen to call your sister "mother", then this isn't for you and you need to go put on a Skynyrd CD. Go listen to what corporate media tells you to... like the drone you were meant to be. Can't stop the slime. Stay away from intelligence in music!
There's meanings, and conventions with all of those experimental freeform absurdity, but I wouldn't call loads of Zappa's tunes "deep"... he wrote that Michael Jackson song based on what a girl on television said: "he ugly; he's all white."
They're eagerly fun to understand how they were formed, but I wouldn't go into huge detail about it... I mean, "G-Spot Tornado", are you honestly going to search far and wide on what it supposedly means?
Excellent accompaniment!

zappa music was a mix of dadaist way of expressing, fusion and rock...

DADAISM is when art expresses with a nonsense sequence of ideas, that in Frank Zappa can be led by a main meaning related with his sytirical spirit...
an example can be the strange transformations of the kids brain in the robot's hands,or the chair that flies undere the man's arse......
