p.s. beat it in 3:31 secs. i beat it in 1 min. doing only jump and hammer, lvl 4, no items. no bros. attacks.

No you should step on the them cause the more you kill the more EXP you get.

Mario's first Bros. Attack is harder to do.

Even in type 1 you can't do it.

Luigi's is easier.

Success much times with a type 3 bros attack and then it will appear soon.

Here's how many times each sucess has to be in order to get the advance command:

Splash: 20

Swing: 10

Chopper: 32

Fire: 20

Bounce: 8

Cyclone: 21

Knockback: 42

Thunder: 24

(each of them ends in Bros. and you can do this on any level.)

I put much on my power points. I'm only at level 24 with both bros, and one jump does around 47 damage. Now I start putting the bonuses on stache and HP and BP.
