Nice comparison, but let me ask...Why the hell would anyone want steady shot in the off selection? I don't even fathom why the hell they even make it an option!!! It shoul dbe on, On/STRONG and ON/INSANE REDUCTION
From what I have read, the optical active mode does not alter the image digitally. The reason you might want to switch it off is because if you have the camera on a tripod, the OIS will cause your image to shake a little. Therefore OIS should only be used when there are vibrations to stabilize :)

because it digitally alters the image therefore increases the load on the processor which in turn decreases image quality and battery life!

steady shot is for handheld shot thats y you need to turn it off when your camera is on a tripod..
