  • Hey Freddy Gr8 video on SMAW. I TIG and MIG pretty well but ironically find ARC tricky. I see you move forward then back. I'll have to give that a try.

  • @valveman12 you do that if you are welding the root like open space between and if you went straight it would melt through. you hold it just until it almost drips out but move it up real fast for a split second and it cools enough that you can keep going. you dont need to do it if the pieces are flush or anything like that. you can't do that with all rods just deep penetrating ones.

  • @freddytk421 Thanks Freddy. I have one of the HF 80A inverter. I bought it to try it out. Still trying to get the hang of making a nice bead. I seen your vids on using it. I'm still not there yet. Funny how I'm great on Tig and Mig but stick, I'm not there yet.

  • Where has this patting technique come from. I was taught never to go back over for risk if slag inclusion.

  • @1113562 you can do that with 6010 rods. it mainly for root passes. i learned it at ACC from Tim Strouse. LOL

  • @freddytk421 Do you live in Austin?

  • nice video, and i agree with shawn

  • he is using the whip and shit technique.

  • plese put a video on a open butt joint , half inch thick metal with a 3/8 gap or little bigger... i am having trouble with it.. if someone can give me any tips please.

  • in america is it smaw here in australia mmaw

  • @wabbles323 It's both here, AS1210 Calls it Manual Yet AS1554 call is Shield. Both are perfectly acceptible. but you yanks need to stat working in metric.

  • i think his little pattern is dropping perocity in the weldment and his arc is too long in my opinion... if u dont believe me then look at all the splatter... no bueno

  • I've never seen that pattern before.

  • the last part was outstanding man! WOW!

  • Wow, great shot of the arc!
