  • @IseaANarmy Ask any worker (or any educated person even) who is it that pays fair, and who is it that undercuts and scrimps when it comes to paying workers' wages. If you are directly employed by a western-owned company, you can expect to be paid fair wages and treated well. It is always the 'Indian sweatshop owners' that are at fault but they make it seem like it is all Gap's fault (they call this scape goating)

  • @IseaANarmy First, 'gap' doesnt have any 'power'. They cannot practically spend their time looking into who their suppliers are employing. You seem to try to shift the blame on Gap, rather than putting the blame on those employers that create this sort of conditions in the first place. Gap is not a guinea pig. Show me any American or Western-owned company that does this kind of thing directly. Its always the third-world sweatshop employers that create this environment and then blame Gap.

  • yeah,.. but did GAP employ them? no... its the indian 'owners' who employed them... false victimization of GAP. if GAP employed anyone by themselves, they would pay well. GAP doesnt do these kind of things directly... because they got an image to maintain... I would say 'dont reduce, instead expand consumption'

if you dont buy, those workers are going to lose their jobs... will that work for you? Western-owned businesses like GAP are actually the ones sharing wealth fairly.

  • @tetdragon Well what if Gap used it's power to actully ensure that the people working on their products are being paid fairly. They can do that, but they choose to ignore it. They could even say, that they will not pay the employers of them if they do not pay fair wages. Or sack the employers and hire fair ones. Gap is at the top, and has control over everyone working for it. Don't buy the lame excuses, just so you feel better.

  • I blame the parents. Why do they insist on having children? They know perfectly well that they will have to struggle to provide money for them. So why do they insist on having children when they themselves are living in poverty? Do they view themselves are martyrs? Whatever it is, I blame the parents.

  • @HOWYOUDOIN884 Well they need to have children so that the family can earn enough money, as you almost seemed to grasp.

To blame the exploitation of a person on the very creation of that person is extremely unethical and problematic.

This is a problem of neo-colonialism. That is really all there is to it.

  • fuck you guys.
