"We have a lot more work to do in our common struggle against bigotry and discrimination. I say 'common struggle' because I believe very strongly that all forms of bigotry and discrimination are equally wrong and should be opposed by right-thinking Americans everywhere. Freedom from discrimination based on sexual orientation is surely a fundamental human right in any great democracy, as much as freedom from racial, religious, gender, or ethnic discrimination."
Most people don't know if I'm gay when they see me, but they do know I'm black. On the other hand, what about the guys that give off the gay vibe from a mile away? By this logic, it's better to hide who we are, and the only gays who stand a chance or the ones who can "pass" this modern day version of "the paper bag test".
@tatomuck18 I guess you're right about the nasty, gerbils, and feces thing. Sadly there are gay and straight people who do that... but being gay, isn't a choice.
You're right it's changing with your comments, I used to think the Black people I saw everyday were regular people able to get regular jobs by regular means but you just seem so pathetically insistent they be shoved into every movie it makes people think maybe they need a crutch. Legend with Will Smith was an awesome movie, white people don't complain about it because it never crosses their mind. They just see a hero instead of some loser whining and clinging to the race card.
The LGBT community will never firget of forgive the Mormns scientoloigist etc , and that includes the black community, the conversation in the LGBT world is not good about african americans these days.
@Clemburke1111 This is sad for black gays, like myself. I identify as gay FIRST, then black. Other gays and I share a fight that people in my own family can't seem to understand. Sadly... I know a lot of gays and a lot of blacks who are extremely bigoted and closed-minded. Being part of one of these groups doesn't exclude any of us from perpetuating hate. I just hope that the gay community realizes that there are many ethnic and religious folks in OUR community. I hope WE can be tolerant
Here is where you are wrong, black people have a community and see each other , blacks have neighborhoods and familiess to shelter them, we are thrown out of families communities etc, it is actually harder beign gay.
Let me give you a lesson on life Toby........just because you don't like me, it does not mean I am wrong. The fact that I have totally lost my patience with your stupidity does not depreciate the truth. Don't delude yourself.......I don't dislike you because your black.....I dislike you because you are clearly an ignorant fuck-tard. Buh-bye.
The fact of the matter is your a straight black man so how do you know about the struggles that gay people face?. I'm so sick of these latent and ignorant responses in our public discourse from straight men who know nothing about the gay life yet they have so much to say and try to pass off an opinion as fact.
Most of the black folk I've met are CARTOONISHLY homophobic, so that 70% statistic makes sense. In the 'conscious' underground hip hop, the rappers are still homophobic. You can't tell a gay person by looking at them? what if they're holding hands? in some places gays will get beat up for holding hands or dressing too effeminate. in NO place in this country will blacks get beat up for being black. but if we wander into your hood after dark, a white person should just EXPECT to get beaten up.
@drewnod There are most definitely a LOT of places in this country were one will get beat up based on race..black, white, and varying shades of brown. When we turn this into gay against black, we alienate part of our own LGBT community. It is at that point that WE become the bigots.
Interesting however discrimination is discrimination no matter how you want to slice it. So the black experience is what it is, same with the homosexual experience, both had and have discrimination experiences; and that is wrong. Also, one does not choose to be homosexual, same as one does not choose to be black or yellow when born. So I can agree in part with what you say, however no matter how you slice it discrimination is discrimination and it was and is wrong.
Preach. Gay people have the right to remain silent just like heterosexuals. Open your mouth and deal with the response either way. I don't give a crap what YOU are your actions are another story. How about I know you and care not to know what you do in your bedroom.
@fdsaks I always hear the bedroom argument. If I mention my partner, like you mention your wife, there's no talk of "bedroom", but there is still hate. Take it from someone who has been as close to "gay married" as one can get. Not a lot of sex in the bedroom. A lot of talking about bills, disagreements about AC blasting and having to freeze during the summer, some laughs, a lot of "I'm too tired"s...
Were you making a schematic with your hands at 2:53? It seems like your where trying to make a coordinate system to get Dora the Explorer to her destination.
But even though the discrimination and the effects are different, it is still discrimination either way. Both are awful and both should be stamped out. To say that one is worse than the other is unfair. So whilst it is not true to say that being gay is the same as being black, it is also not true to say that being gay is better than being black. I think the two groups should support each other rather than dump on each other.
@MintimusMaximus But thats not what he was saying, he is not saying that gay discrimination is not as bad as black discrimination, he was just saying that its different.
Yes, and I think my previous comment shows that I agree with him on that point. However he is pretty much saying that gay people have it easier because they can always just stay in the closet...I actually find that kind of offensive. He doesn't seem to know or acknowledge how much damage that does to a person. And why should they stay in the closet? That's kind of like telling black people they should just stay in black suburbs if they don't want to be discriminated against.
He also states that 70% of African Americans voted to pass Prop 8 but asserts that it is because of the incorrect comparison with the black civil rights movement. Come on, if people are voting to pass a law that discriminates against others just because of a comparison that doesn't ring true, that's a real shame. It would be really petty to vote for a law that discriminates against all gay people just because the campaign run by a few made the error of using this comparison.
No.. I think the sad truth of the matter is that 70% of African Americans voted to pass Prop 8 for homophobic reasons. There are lots of videos on youtube talking about black homophobia... often by black people themselves. Whilst this dude seems like decent bloke and was against Prop 8 himself, I think he is just trying to gloss over the fact that his fellow African Americans really are homophobic and not showing empathy to other minorities that they expect for themselves.
You are right, you can't hide being black so we can't "directly" compare being black to being gay. In my view being gay can be better in some ways but worse in others. Better in that people can't just look at you and discriminate, but worse in that if you are gay you grow up alone with no-one that has your back. At least if you are black, you feel connected to your family and community and you are taught to be proud. Growing up gay, you have no one and you are taught to be ashamed.
sorry most gays can be spotted from a block away. and if anyone is even suspected they get all kinds of crap.. and in a way you are right though.. blacks arent hung in a public square. like in the middle east. arent hunted down and murdered like in nigeria, the bahamas, they arent enslaved which is an abomionation, but get killed out of hand. and denying them equal rights is the same thing.
@scorand A gay person can hide their sexuality, a black person cannot hide being black. If they are black and gay that's something different, but don't say that being black and gay are one in the same. If that's the case, being white and gay are the same too, especially when you include the discrimination of Irish, Italian, and Polish immigrants. Quit turning this into a black issue and thing; this is a human thing!
@Sepia1789 your right theyre not one and the same. i was rather sleepy when i responded and didnt mean to imply they were..but theyre not as different as most would like to claim. it is worse for gays. and your right again it is a human thing not a black thing. .but i do still stand by the rest of what i said. as hiding your sexuality wouldnt be necessary if not for the threat of death,
I think there's a feeling among the gay community that black people know what it feels like to have to fight for your civil rights, and so feel like the black community should support another communities struggle for equal rights, even if the injustice done to gays isn't as severe today as it was to black people in the past, and that community could escape prejudice by hiding in the closet as it were. That said, having to hide even in plain sight is itself bad enough.
To say that being black is the same as being gay, is the most racist argument out there.
Homosexuality is an act. This is the reason is counted as sin. If you say that you are born with that inclination, there are babies who are born drug addicted. This is sad, but it happens.
Blacks do not come out of the close, neither have an inner desire to be of any color to be black.
@ggonjon "Homosexuality is an act. This is the reason is counted as sin."
No, sex is an act. Homosexuality is a sexuality. And It's a sin because an old book says so, not because anyone can argue there's something wrong with it.
"If you say that you are born with that inclination, there are babies who are born drug addicted."
So? Drug addicted babies result because of drug abuse by the mother, it's harmful to the child but it can be treated. I don't see the connection to being born gay.
@ggonjon To say homosexuality is an act is one of the most ignorant things I think you could have said. In that case being straight is an act then. People need to just accept that being gay is a perfectly natural thing! There are SO many animals in the wild who have been proven to engage in homosexual experiences, why is it considered "unnatural" for humans? Oh yeah, because a book says so...the same book that said there were no dinosaurs and the sun moved round the earth. Bravo guys!
Whites will try and make our struggle seem like it's nothing but turn around and keep treating us like shit (excuse my language). That's why blacks don't worry about gays too much because they act crazy when they don't get their way and they are white people trying to get the "big, scary, mean" black people to fight their battles, which we won't. And what about Gay Blacks... i'll tell you this, they'll go with black struggle because they got common sense. The one's that don't are with whites.
@dissidia123456789 I dont think thats true at all. In fact that comment is extrovertly racist towards white people, which is something you say you are against. Racism works two ways.
The argument about Gay being the same as Black is only to make the point that it's not something you choose it's something you're born with...you are born to be black and you are born to be gay. Or bisexual. You can't just choose your sexuality.
Black people got their marriage - gays are still having to fight.
@MvyMkr I don't think it's racist at all. Black is a physical characteristics, aka something you see with your eyes...gay IS NOT. Blacks have always been able to marry each other. If it wasn't in America , they as hell did in Africa.People tend to forget that there are other blacks not just the African Americans. Marriage fyi was something created by the Bible. Atleast the American form was. Why try and do something that Christians do, if they hate gays so much. That's why Brad and Ange aren't.
@dissidia123456789 "Marriage fyi was something created by the Bible. Atleast the American form was"
This is almost laughable! Are you saying no marriages took place BEFORE the bible? What about the marriages REFERED TO in the bible before it was writen? How does American marriage differ from any other marriage? Have you seen any gays picketting local churches demanding marriage?....NO...because its NOT ABOUT CHURCH MAIRRAGE.
@dissidia123456789 How is American marriage tied to the church when the Founding Fathers included separation of Church and State in their basic premise of government?
@clubindiana4 I'll tell you like I told MyyMkr....schools use to pray before class would be conducted....that doesn't seem like it's separating church and state and if you need to know how schools tie in with state...schools are (atleast the public ones) government owned.
@clubindiana4 your attempts at sounding intelligent have all been cancelled out with the comment that you have made that has been flagged for a good reason...(and I didn't flag it) and a reptile is an animal, it's nothing different.
@dissidia123456789 "your attempts at sounding intelligent have all been cancelled"
Buh-bye.
@clubindiana4 smh never said I don't like you...your the one acting like your in high school..and you probably are. If your gonna debate with people on youtube show atleast a pinch of class, that way others that read your comments can take you seriously....for all I know you could be a little troll.
@clubindiana4 Look asshole. Stop with the racial innuendos okay bud...I'm not on this youtubers page shouting "faggot" and "dike" that's why I don't consider you intellectually capible of carrying a civil conversation. "toby" and ".while the white folks were a prayin in school.....you woulda been out toilin away in the cotton field. Isn't it great that things change?" sounds like a cowards way of putting someone down because they can't handle adult conversation....smfh
@dissidia123456789 America, as a nation, was built on the separation of church and state so...by definition, the legal binding of marriage in America has nothing to do with church marriage. Similarly, in England and Europe, marriage isn't really a church thing anymore...
@MvyMkr Just till recently we have took that into literal meaning. Back in the day ( and I actually went out and asked older Americans this) they use to pray before class...hmm separation of church in state?
@dissidia123456789 Yeah, so we take the bible as "literal" even though it contradicts itself but not the law your country is based on..? USED to is the operative word. Society has moved forward - so should its semi-biblical laws...
@clubindiana4 Yup...it may have meant nothing to WHITE MASTERS but it meant something to those poor souls back in the day. And African tribes have their own laws...so marriage or whatever they have that is close to marriage carries the same weight as any American one...What are you trying to tell me that only American marriages under American laws are legit. What about France, China Australia, Mongolia, India, Egypt...does their marriage ceremonies mean anything to you?
@dissidia123456789 "but it meant something to those poor souls back in the day"
Then why has the way you define marriage evolved? It seems like you're comparing the way marriage has evolved in the black community to the way marriage is evolving in the gay community. Now that you mention it....they do seem similar!
@clubindiana4 what? you can almost find similarities in almost anything. But it doesn't mean they are equivalent to each other. Please elaborate on what you mentioned earlier...
@dissidia123456789 Honey I said you were being racist about white people not gay people. The first sentence in your comment is overtly racist towards white people and the whole comment is slagging off white people and tarring them all with the same brush. Why is it that black people think that they can never be racist!?
@MvyMkr nope you can make anything sound racist or even sound like it's picking on someone....If I sad Hitler killed a good percent of the Jews and then some how manage to fool a nation into believing his radical views, am i picking on him....HELL NO. I'm simply stating the facts. and don't call me honey if you must give me a name of endearment call me chocolate...more close to my skin tone.
@dissidia123456789 The Hitler thing was a fact. Stating "Whites will try and make our struggle seem like it's nothing but turn around and keep treating us like shit" is a racial slur about the colour of a person's skin and generalises white people in the exact same way you're saying white people used to generalise you...how is that not racist!? The definition is "The belief that members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race" which is what you just did...
@MvyMkr That's not racist b/c i'm not racist...maybe it comes off as a negative prejudice, but it is not racist. And I know ALL whites aren't that way but the vast majority will either treat a minority like crap or just sit there and watch (hint hint the holocaust) Watching is just as bad and doing the crime. I don't hold sweeping generalizations about a group of people.
@dissidia123456789 "the vast majority will either treat a minority like crap or just sit there and watch (hint hint the holocaust) Watching is just as bad and doing the crime."
Are you friggin kidding me? Ever heard of D-Day? Who exactly were you thinking liberated the concentration camps? I used to think you were a bigot......I'm now realizing that you are just stupid.
@dissidia123456789 Is your brain getting enough oxygen? You insinuated that whites were responsible for being aware of the holocaust and taking no action. Who landed on Normandy? Who liberated Europe? Am I confused.....was it Kenya? Was it the military might of Liberia? Did the black race take some dramatic action to end the Holocaust that I am unaware of?..........or are you just a complete utter fucking idiot?
@clubindiana4 Yes a vast majority of the people involved in the holocaust were white. It was in Europe for heavens sake. And you seem to forget that blacks during that time had no power what so ever to help anyone let alone themselves. This all took place before the 60's before blacks themselves had equality. Blacks were so poorly educated that they probably had no idea what America, Germany, Russia, France, China, Japan and Italy were all fighting about....granted a small few knew.
@dissidia123456789 "b/c I am not racist" is bullshit. A negative prejudice towards a race IS racist. That is the very definition of what the word means!!! The Holocaust is a totally ridiculous point to bring into a racism argument such as this because genocide is such an extremist action...anyone seen to not join in risked death at the hands of the Nazis. But that is a whole other debate...
This one is about the generalisation of a race...much like a sexuality. Huh - guess it IS similar...ha
@MvyMkr I was using the holocaust to get my point across b/c it's something everyone knows about....I can't use some other form of racism because the person I'm commenting too may not know what event I am talking about. I use the holocaust b/c it's like the blueprint of organized hate.
@MvyMkr another thing. racist= irrational hate of another race. prejudice= having either a negative or positive generalizing view of a group of people. I don't mean to sound like i'm trying to teach you but I just learned that in a psychology college class, so I want to use it somewhere. A prejudice though could be as unoffensive as blacks are natural dancers or blacks are all stupid. whites are all beautiful or whites are all evil.
@dissidia123456789 "Blacks are stupid" sounds pretty offensive to me. Nah you are right, if we are getting technical, what you were expressing was prejudice, but to me it's still an umbrella-term.
To me everyone is the same and everyone deserves rights. Black/white/male/female/gay/straight - everything is who you are and everyone deserves the opportunity to express themselves in the way they were born. They may choose not to, but to me it is the fact that they CAN choose, which separates us.
@dissidia123456789 I agree, one of America's big problems is it sees itself as an entity on its own and forgets there's a whole world. That is certainly what us non-Americans see and family I have in America who agree. I don't think it's about wanting to "do something christians do" even though they hate it, I think it's the idea of Equality. Everyone should have the right to marry if they want to. I personally don't want to be a banker but if someone said I couldnt be one because Im white...
@MvyMkr Marriage is overrated...it's that simple. And Americans now are not getting married at the same rate that they use to...they are now more "single" households then married households as of this year. So once you get married (and one day you will so stop the whining) you will relize it isn't what hollywood tells us it should be. ps. i don't plan on getting married...cuz i just don't want to.
@dissidia123456789 It's not that more people *want* to get married, it's that it should be anyone's right to get married if they *want* to. I personally don't know if I ever will get married but it's not about that! It is about the fact that everyone has a fundamental right to equality - whether that is in gender, race or sexuality.
Not every woman *wants* to vote, but it is HUGELY important that they have the CHOICE to, if they so *wish* - that is what this is about.
@MvyMkr Everyone can't have it there way all the god damn time....If I feel in love with a member of the same sex I wouldn't be able to marry either... think about that "oh great Philosopher" Same sex marriage applies to everyone not just gays...It just so happens that gays are more likely to marry the same sex...
When people say "being gay is like being black" they mean it in a very specific way: both groups are discriminated against for reasons that are beyond their control (this is true if you first accept that gay people are born gay). The people aren't trying to say that the history of black oppression is similar to the history of gay oppression. The people also aren't trying to say that living as a gay person is like living as a black person. They mean it simply in this specific way.
I agree. I think they took the wrong approach. I don't think being black is in any way like being gay, but I do still think it is legitimate to make some sort of argument like: women have received their right to vote, segregation was made illegal, SOCIAL NORMS CHANGE, laws change, so... it's about time laws on gay marriage change too.
Of course being black isn't the same as being gay. But all discrimination, whether it be against black people or gay people or women or Muslims or the lower class or what have you, is remarkably similar in its character, even if the particular hardships are quite different.
Respond to this video... Forget it stop trying to right the wrong no sin is greater than the next BEING GAY IS WRONG just like adultery and fornication so therefore i hate it just like i hate all sins
I HATE GAY PEOPLE HOW DARE ANY OF U COMPARE BEING BLACK TO BEING GAY? WHITES ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT AREN'T CONSIDERED A MINORITY IN AMERICA SO THEREFORE IS HISPANIC THE NEW GAY? IS ASIAN THE NEW GAY? YOU PEOPLE ARE SO RIDICULOUS JUST BECAUSE GAYS ARE DISCRIMINATED ON DOESN'T MEAN THEIR STRUGGLE IS EQUIVALENT TO BLACKS ANYBODY NO MATTER WHAT RACE CAN BE DISCRIMINATED ON SO WHY CALL GAYS THE NEW BLACK? LIKE WE'RE THE ONLY ONES DISCRIMINATED ON IN THE WORLD. ONCE AGAIN SINGLING US OUT.
You can't explain anything to white people, especially white gays. God forbid if blacks express our disapproval of homosexuality. May all hell break loose and let the "nigger" word and any other racial slurs against blacks come out in full force. In white gay people's minds (and any nonblack gay person) blacks are SUPPOSE to agree with any damn issue in reference to another group's "discrimination." Bullshit. As for Prop. 8 and the percentage of 70% of blacks voting on it
All lies by the mainstream, predominately white media. 70% of blacks are not the reason that damn law didn't pass. It was due to the voting power of whites - who comprise a large part of the state of California, but the media is so smart and predicable at running some bullshit story of blacks being a bunch of homophoics. And like blind sheep, white gays believe it ... hook, line, and sinker. And if blacks even attempt to rationally explain to an ignorant white gay
the difference between being black AND gay or being black period compare to being a white gay person, oh my goodness, white gays go apeshit and start ranting some of the most nonsensical bullshit in reference to blacks being a bunch of racist, double standard, and crap about, "Why can't I express my opinion." Sighs. These people get on my damn nerves because no matter how you approach the discussion, whites will ONLY hear certain words out of a black person's mouth.
Also, someone needs to tell these brainwash, socially inept fucks that blacks were NOT the ones who raised $55 million dollars to put the proposal on the ballot in the first place. But anything with blacks will get their damn blood boiling.
Soooooo your saying that gays should've hid to save themselves from prejudice just how you wont go to the doctor to change the color of your skin Im not going to hide my true identity from the world I am who I am thats ignorant you cant stop being the color that you are and you cant stop feeling the way you do
You and everyone who else says "yes on prop 8" supporters are hateful are foolish and narrow. I have a homosexual cousin and I love him as i do all other family. I would appreciate it if you would stop trying to tell me how I feel towards gays. You're not psychic. You're not a mind reader. Please stop posting that stupid statement. I AM AGAINST GAY MARRIAGE BUT DON'T HATE GAYS. What a concept.
@Norie92 You don't hate gay people, you just hate that they want equality. Nobody having read your comment needs to be psychic to figure that out, though it seems you're confused about how you feel toward gay people. I am sorry for your cousin, not everyone is fortunate enough to be part of a family that doesn't have anyone as bigoted as you in it.
@ggnooz Are you an idiot? Only I know how I feel. I don't hate them wanting to be "equal" so, really, stop trying to read minds. Don't feel sorry for my cousin. He's lucky not to have a fool like you as a family member. I have it perfectly clear, there is no confusion. I don't hate gays or any aspect about them but I merely disagree with SOME of them on this issue. If you think all gays want gay marriage you are wrong.
@Norie92 Clearly I have wasted my time here. How could I possibly have thought that someone who wanted to strip rights from a group of people must hate them. You also back up your statements with some rather impressive name calling. Then to sum it all up, you use a logical fallacy.. Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant. I will certainly think twice, or perhaps start with a first time, before I dare take on the intellectual might of Norie92.
@ggnooz It's you word versus mine on what I am personally thinking. I think I know what I think better than you do. Really. Just stop. You're making a fool of yourself.
Its harder to be gay then black, we can not identify each other we dont have a gay family to go home to as kids or agay neighborhood, you had all of that.
I agree you as far as how they purpose the campaign. I wouldn't say they were wrong but it did come of as a bit insulting. I think we all understand the "Gay is the New Black". I also agree that the campaign would have done much better if it was plain and simple, Equal Rights for a minority group.
Far as choices go, no you can't help to love some or feel a certain way towards same sex. People can love who ever! You can fight it.
What about the straight man who acts effeminently and is bullied, beaten or killed because of it? You see, people DO know how they are going to react--positively or negatively--to someone they percieve to be a homosexual walking down the street.
Also, does the fact that it was physically possible for a Jew to hide in Nazi Germany make their struggle against anti-Semitism somehow NOT a civil-rights issue?
Bigotry is bigotry. Hate is hate. Discrimination is discrimination.
If race was the only criterion by which people were denied their civil rights you might have a point. But it's not. Of course, every oppressed minority has struggles that are unique to that group, but that doesn't make one group more worthy than another. Besides, there are many more similarieties than there are differences. Some gay men *can* pass as straight (just as a very few light complected African Americans could pass for white), but what about those who can't?
I think the only reason that Prop 8 passed in the first place was that politically active people were all focused on the race between Barack Obama and John McCain.
If the Prop 8 vote had been held today, it wouldn't have passed.
It was the last gasp of hate in America on the very same day that America shocked itself by electing a black man President and consigning racists in America to minority status forever.
So since you can hide your religion, then its Ok to discriminate against them? Stupid rationale. Blacks think that they are the only victims. They can't stand having their professional victimhood threatened.
@Imogen1885 like he said if your black you couldnt hide from racist whites in the north and south you couldnt use restrooms and water fountains and walk in certain neighborhoods past dark.A homo can walk wherever he wants like he said if hes in the closet and im sure if mlk jr was still alive he would be for prop 8 why he was a christian minister!!
@Imogen1885 like i said if u want to use the word prejudice thats on you how dare u think that christianity was not at his forfront for the fight against civil rights! He was a christian who knew that the bible is gods word!
@abayarde5 I never said anything of the kind. If you are prejudiced against one group then you do not have a leg to stand on by crying about prejudice against yourself. You are as bad as those you complain about it. MLK jr would not have turned hoses on gays because he believed in the dream. The dream of freedom for all.
@Imogen1885 i never said i would turn hoses on homos what do you get this from? believe me gays have alot more freedom then christians and minorities! unless your not white you would never understand!
@Imogen1885 like i said or like he said if your white and gay you can hide it if your black hispanic indian native or asian you cant hide! but a gay man can be in the closet and no one will know they can march with the klan if they want!
@abayarde5 Why should any gay person be in the closet when they are only being what God made them. You will never be free until you get that giant sized boulder off your shoulder. The only person who is imprisoning you-- is you. Honour MLK jr and Nelson Mandela by claiming your freedom. When have you ever heard Mandela whining. 25 years in jail and the man has more dignity than you are showing. Free yourself. Claim what these men fought for.
@Imogen1885 god didnt make you gay you did gays make the choice to be gay!Im not saying to hide at all but unless you talk like a girl then i would never know your gay right? unless you say you where gay if you see me you know im a latino and i have a afro i cant hide!Im not saying i want to! But gys have not been hung at least in the usa the country needs to be more of a democracy like brasil who has separation of church and state as a whole but they have christian public schools!
Abayarde5, of course, gay people don't "choose" to be gay any more than black people pick out the color of their skin, or tall people choose their height. It's all part of how God chooses to make a person, when He creates them.
@TheJobi1 Well under the theory that, "You are born gay" then you also gonna have to have that you are born a rapist and child molester. So then we are gonna have to tolerate their sick perverted behavior and actions just the same as we do the gays. So when a child gets molested or a man's wife gets raped trying telling the parents/husband that they were born that way and we will just have to tolerate it. See how that goes over with those families. BEING GAY IS A CHOICE!!!!
Of course, Tacoma2317, your analogy is shockingly stupid. If you were educated, you'd understand the difference between loving, adult relationships, and raping a child. Being a moron may or may not be a choice, but not even trying to educate yourself is one.
@MattFrame You my friend are the the stupid ass moron and I really feel sorry for you. Saying that you are born gay is just you, and the rest of the gays trying to justify your lustful and perverted behavior. But God will take care of you on judgment day and his law id the law. There will be no standing outside the pearly gate holding up signs in protest, they don't allow that in Heaven. He will just simply toss you in to the fires of hell for the lustful life style you chose 2 live on earth
Tacoma2317, just because the reality is beyond YOUR grasp does not make it "stupid". I see you are falling into the idiot's trap of assuming that anyone who's not a bigot, & who's better educated than you, must be "gay". Whine & mewl about it all you want, but God is the one who creates gays in the first place. It's bigots like you who will be bawling when He turns you away from His door. Satan has caught hold of your weak mind and is using you to spread hatred. You make God puke. Repent!
@MattFrame Damn son, you remind me of a guy I use to work with that was so stupid he actually thought he was smart. If you can't understand that it takes the seed of a man and the egg of a women to create a baby then that's your problem. Maybe you should have stayed in school like I did. Go take your stupidity out on someone else son. I see things for what they are and don't sanitize anything. If you can't handle the truth then go hang out with the other fags on San Fransico dude!
Taco...you worked with yourself? Again, you're falling into the idiot's trap of leaping to irrational conclusions, based on comments that no one ever actually made, and then arguing with yourself about them. The next best thing to playing with yourself under the desk, I suppose. While I am the first to admit that your abject idiocy is amusing, my kind nature compels me to remind you that educational & psychiatric help are available to you, should you ever man up & admit how badly you need them.
@MattFrame Dude when you said that God creates gays, you just identified yourself in a nut shell right there. You obviously don't get it because your a moron with a very low mentality and IQ. A wise man once said it is impossible to win a argument with a ignorant man and you are a prime example of that. Moreover, you are also a prime example of what the Bible speaks of in Revelation in the final days. I have given you way more of my time than you deserve, I can't tolerate stupid people.
Taco, again, you're jumping to irrational conclusions borne out of your own relentless inanity. Acknowledging the truth about the Lord's creating homosexuals does not make one gay, any more than pointing out that your mind is fried makes the truth teller as oily as you. By your own admission, you can't tolerate yourself, & while I understand your self-loathing is justified, why not man up & let your moral, intellectual, & spiritual betters mold your mind into something worthwhile?
@tacoma2317 "If you can't understand that it takes the seed of a man and the egg of a women [sic] to create a baby then that's your problem"
It takes the seed of a man and the egg of a woman to create a gay man too. You know, gays CAN reproduce--they can make use of artificial means of conception or adoption just like straight infertal couples. There is no difference. And studies have shown that chilren raised by gays are no more likely to be gay than children raised by straight couples.
@TheStrong32 Most people agree with me on this topic. I'm just one of the few that's not afraid to stand up you you idiots and tell you how it is. But of course your not interested in hearing the truth. Let's just make believe it's ok to be a queer because it's just more convenient for my life style.
@tacoma2317 Just because you chose to hide that side of you doesn't make being gay a choice you idiot. I'm sorry you are obviously too scared to reconcile your own homosexual urges. The fact that you even try to compare consensual sex between two adults with child molestation or rape is testament to your naivety. We will see who "God" judges on that day. You are a horrible christian and there is a special place for you in hell. Remember your hatred towards gays violates gods law.
@TheJobi1 LOL I knew that was coming. Since you can't dispute the facts I lay out let's just resort to saying I'm a homo cuz it's a lot easier that way. You gays are so pathetic it's now even funny. Hell for what it's worth I sort of can't blame a women for being lesbian. I mean seriously, how could anyone be attracted to some dude's hairy ass. But it makes sense, I'm a guy and guys are not suppose to be attracted to guys.
@tacoma2317 'Well under the theory that, "You are born gay" then you also gonna have to have that you are born a rapist and child molester."
Wow! What incredible ignorance! No serious scientist anywhere has ever suggested such a thing. Thre are no prenatal hormones that determine criminal behavior. Besides, even if there WERE such a thing, it would make no difference in the argument. Being gay is not a crime. It doesn't hurt anyone.
I definately see what you are saying, zennie, but I think there is a decent amount similarity between the race civil rights fight and the gay civil rights fight. Although I do think it's ridiculous to say "Gay is the same as Black", I do think that the arguments used against miscegenation (inter-racial marriage) back in the day are drastically similar to the arguments used against gay marriage today. Other than that, I agree that it is a very thin anology, and I can see how it could be offensive
You seem to imply that someone can change their sexuality. How
realistic is this for most people?. I would say people have the right to be
who they are. I agree with you however that anti-Prop 8 argument suggested African Americans that they are not normal because they're black. Bad approach.
In a larger context I beliveve that most religions cause immense suffering
to LGBT people through a flawed theology pertaining to human sexuality
@Pilgrim812 See, you believe people have the righ to be who they are, per your words exactly. You choose who you want to be and that is your right? Right? Well, homo is a choice or right as you call it. Race is not a right. It's something that cannot be changed unless you know how to change DNA. Can a White man be black then change his mind and be White again? No, but a homo can change to hetero if he or she wants. The power of choice. Stop saying you were created like that. U were not. U chose
@Pilgrim812 I got to go with number two upon choosing. This is not a civil rights issue. Homo's want society to accept the immorality of homosexuality. I am not contributing to or buying that. I don't hate them I hate the act of homosexuality.
@moshesh I certainty have no reason to seek the acceptance of anyone.
That is not what this is about.
But state sanctioned discrimination is an issue of civil rights by
its very definition. Just how cognizant are you of the legal (civil) issues of marriage equality, D.O.M.A. and DADT? If you hate homosexuality, then go right ahead that is your decision. But laws that restrict or exclude a group in society must be vested in a rational and compeling reason to stand up under legal
@moshesh The whole homosexual agenda is a carefully presented arguement that tries to present an unnatural and immoral chosen life style as if it were normal and should be accepted. It is simply a threat to the basic family unit, and frankly our constitutional rights by attempting to impose their views on the religous freedoms that this nation was founded upon. They do this through misinformation, intimidation, half truths, and circumventing the due process of law.
Its not a choice idiot who would chose to be discriminated against? You are a narrow minded moron. This nation wasn't based on religion, it was formed against the tyranny of religions. Federalist letter 70 or 71 explains the separation of church and state. Not that you have any clue what I am talking about anyway.
@moshesh Not true. You should really look into the scientific research that has been done on this issue. The research concludes that the overwhelming majority of gay people never experienced a sense of "choice" about being gay, and that the vast majority of gay people cannot change their orientation by will. In fact, research shows that there is most likely a physiological aspect to homosexuality (i.e. prenatal hormone influence, greater neuron connections between brain hemispheres, etc.)
@moshesh We are reaching critical mass on this issue and it boils down to two camps to which people are gravitiating: 1) Belief that homosexual men and women have protection under the due process and equal protection provisions of the U.S. Constitution or 2) that homosexuals represent a permanent sub-
class of citizen that are inherently a threat to society. To which argument do
@moshesh Hm. Interesting argument. First off, not only are we the product of ape-like organisms, we are still classifiable as apes! Again, we ARE apes. Second, I find it hilarious that you dismiss the Theory of Evolution without a second thought. Do you also dismiss the Theory of Gravitation? the Theory of Relativity? The Theory of Electromagnetism? I mean, for christs sake, you are using a computer (a product of science) to say science is somehow willfully making things up and lying about facts
@Johnson154 In that first sentence you wrote it should look like this: "First off, not only am I the product of ape like organisms, I am still classified as an ape!" And so on. That is what you should have written. God created me specifically different from apes. Try writing the sentence in the way I humbly submit to you and I will be glad to respond.

The fact of the matter is your a straight black man so how do you know about the struggles that gay people face?. I'm so sick of these latent and ignorant responses in our public discourse from straight men who know nothing about the gay life yet they have so much to say and try to pass off an opinion as fact.
KE2DFUCHER 5 months ago
Most of the black folk I've met are CARTOONISHLY homophobic, so that 70% statistic makes sense. In the 'conscious' underground hip hop, the rappers are still homophobic. You can't tell a gay person by looking at them? what if they're holding hands? in some places gays will get beat up for holding hands or dressing too effeminate. in NO place in this country will blacks get beat up for being black. but if we wander into your hood after dark, a white person should just EXPECT to get beaten up.
drewnod 6 months ago
@drewnod There are most definitely a LOT of places in this country were one will get beat up based on race..black, white, and varying shades of brown. When we turn this into gay against black, we alienate part of our own LGBT community. It is at that point that WE become the bigots.

Interesting however discrimination is discrimination no matter how you want to slice it. So the black experience is what it is, same with the homosexual experience, both had and have discrimination experiences; and that is wrong. Also, one does not choose to be homosexual, same as one does not choose to be black or yellow when born. So I can agree in part with what you say, however no matter how you slice it discrimination is discrimination and it was and is wrong.
chicraig6421 6 months ago
Preach. Gay people have the right to remain silent just like heterosexuals. Open your mouth and deal with the response either way. I don't give a crap what YOU are your actions are another story. How about I know you and care not to know what you do in your bedroom.
fdsaks 7 months ago
@fdsaks I always hear the bedroom argument. If I mention my partner, like you mention your wife, there's no talk of "bedroom", but there is still hate. Take it from someone who has been as close to "gay married" as one can get. Not a lot of sex in the bedroom. A lot of talking about bills, disagreements about AC blasting and having to freeze during the summer, some laughs, a lot of "I'm too tired"s...

MintimusMaximus 9 months ago
@MintimusMaximus But thats not what he was saying, he is not saying that gay discrimination is not as bad as black discrimination, he was just saying that its different.
Mossgate97 8 months ago
@Mossgate97
MintimusMaximus 8 months ago
@Mossgate97
MintimusMaximus 8 months ago
MintimusMaximus 8 months ago
@MintimusMaximus Well thats your opinion but i think you really missed the point.
Mossgate97 8 months ago
You are right, you can't hide being black so we can't "directly" compare being black to being gay. In my view being gay can be better in some ways but worse in others. Better in that people can't just look at you and discriminate, but worse in that if you are gay you grow up alone with no-one that has your back. At least if you are black, you feel connected to your family and community and you are taught to be proud. Growing up gay, you have no one and you are taught to be ashamed.
MintimusMaximus 9 months ago
sorry most gays can be spotted from a block away. and if anyone is even suspected they get all kinds of crap.. and in a way you are right though.. blacks arent hung in a public square. like in the middle east. arent hunted down and murdered like in nigeria, the bahamas, they arent enslaved which is an abomionation, but get killed out of hand. and denying them equal rights is the same thing.
scorand 9 months ago
@scorand A gay person can hide their sexuality, a black person cannot hide being black. If they are black and gay that's something different, but don't say that being black and gay are one in the same. If that's the case, being white and gay are the same too, especially when you include the discrimination of Irish, Italian, and Polish immigrants. Quit turning this into a black issue and thing; this is a human thing!
Sepia1789 9 months ago
@Sepia1789 your right theyre not one and the same. i was rather sleepy when i responded and didnt mean to imply they were..but theyre not as different as most would like to claim. it is worse for gays. and your right again it is a human thing not a black thing. .but i do still stand by the rest of what i said. as hiding your sexuality wouldnt be necessary if not for the threat of death,
scorand 9 months ago
I think there's a feeling among the gay community that black people know what it feels like to have to fight for your civil rights, and so feel like the black community should support another communities struggle for equal rights, even if the injustice done to gays isn't as severe today as it was to black people in the past, and that community could escape prejudice by hiding in the closet as it were. That said, having to hide even in plain sight is itself bad enough.
Fangtorn 9 months ago 2
To say that being black is the same as being gay, is the most racist argument out there.
Homosexuality is an act. This is the reason is counted as sin. If you say that you are born with that inclination, there are babies who are born drug addicted. This is sad, but it happens.
Blacks do not come out of the close, neither have an inner desire to be of any color to be black.
ggonjon 9 months ago
@ggonjon "Homosexuality is an act. This is the reason is counted as sin."
No, sex is an act. Homosexuality is a sexuality. And It's a sin because an old book says so, not because anyone can argue there's something wrong with it.
"If you say that you are born with that inclination, there are babies who are born drug addicted."
So? Drug addicted babies result because of drug abuse by the mother, it's harmful to the child but it can be treated. I don't see the connection to being born gay.
Fangtorn 9 months ago

MvyMkr 9 months ago
@MvyMkr I don't think it's racist at all. Black is a physical characteristics, aka something you see with your eyes...gay IS NOT. Blacks have always been able to marry each other. @dissidia123456789 Is your brain getting enough oxygen? You insinuated that whites were responsible for being aware of the holocaust and taking no action. Who landed on Normandy? Who liberated Europe? Am I confused.....was it Kenya? Was it the military might of Liberia? Did the black race take some dramatic action to end the Holocaust that I am unaware of?..........or are you just a complete utter fucking idiot?
clubindiana4 7 months ago
@clubindiana4 Yes a vast majority of the people involved in the holocaust were white. It was in Europe for heavens sake. And you seem to forget that blacks during that time had no power what so ever to help anyone let alone themselves. This all took place before the 60's before blacks themselves had equality. Blacks were so poorly educated that they probably had no idea what America, Germany, Russia, France, China, Japan and Italy were all fighting about....granted a small few knew.
dissidia123456789 7 months ago
@dissidia123456789 "b/c I am not racist" is bullshit. A negative prejudice towards a race IS racist. That is the very definition of what the word means!!! The Holocaust is a totally ridiculous point to bring into a racism argument such as this because genocide is such an extremist action...anyone seen to not join in risked death at the hands of the Nazis. But that is a whole other debate...
This one is about the generalisation of a race...much like a sexuality. Huh - guess it IS similar...ha
MvyMkr 4 months ago
@MvyMkr I was using the holocaust to get my point across b/c it's something everyone knows about....I can't use some other form of racism because the person I'm commenting too may not know what event I am talking about. I use the holocaust b/c it's like the blueprint of organized hate.
dissidia123456789 4 months ago
@MvyMkr another thing. racist= irrational hate of another race. prejudice= having either a negative or positive generalizing view of a group of people. I don't mean to sound like i'm trying to teach you but I just learned that in a psychology college class, so I want to use it somewhere. A prejudice though could be as unoffensive as blacks are natural dancers or blacks are all stupid. whites are all beautiful or whites are all evil.
dissidia123456789 8 months ago
@dissidia123456789 "Blacks are stupid" sounds pretty offensive to me. Nah you are right, if we are getting technical, what you were expressing was prejudice, but to me it's still an umbrella-term.
To me everyone is the same and everyone deserves rights. Black/white/male/female/gay/straight - everything is who you are and everyone deserves the opportunity to express themselves in the way they were born. They may choose not to, but to me it is the fact that they CAN choose, which separates us.
MvyMkr 4 months ago
and race and sex are like apples to oranges...
dissidia123456789 4 months ago
@dissidia123456789 I agree, one of America's big problems is it sees itself as an entity on its own and forgets there's a whole world. That is certainly what us non-Americans see and family I have in America who agree. I don't think it's about wanting to "do something christians do" even though they hate it, I think it's the idea of Equality. Everyone should have the right to marry if they want to. I personally don't want to be a banker but if someone said I couldnt be one because Im white...
MvyMkr 8 months ago
@MvyMkr Marriage is overrated...it's that simple. And Americans now are not getting married at the same rate that they use to...they are now more "single" households then married households as of this year. So once you get married (and one day you will so stop the whining) you will relize it isn't what hollywood tells us it should be. ps. i don't plan on getting married...cuz i just don't want to.
dissidia123456789 8 months ago
@dissidia123456789 It's not that more people *want* to get married, it's that it should be anyone's right to get married if they *want* to. I personally don't know if I ever will get married but it's not about that! It is about the fact that everyone has a fundamental right to equality - whether that is in gender, race or sexuality.
Not every woman *wants* to vote, but it is HUGELY important that they have the CHOICE to, if they so *wish* - that is what this is about.
MvyMkr 4 months ago
@MvyMkr Everyone can't have it there way all the god damn time....If I feel in love with a member of the same sex I wouldn't be able to marry either... think about that "oh great Philosopher" Same sex marriage applies to everyone not just gays...It just so happens that gays are more likely to marry the same sex...
dissidia123456789 4 months ago
Gays liked to be whipped and shackled.
Blacks do not.
Romansteel13 9 months ago
When people say "being gay is like being black" they mean it in a very specific way: both groups are discriminated against for reasons that are beyond their control (this is true if you first accept that gay people are born gay). The people aren't trying to say that the history of black oppression is similar to the history of gay oppression. The people also aren't trying to say that living as a gay person is like living as a black person. They mean it simply in this specific way.
isaacthorn 10 months ago 2
I agree. I think they took the wrong approach. I don't think being black is in any way like being gay, but I do still think it is legitimate to make some sort of argument like: women have received their right to vote, segregation was made illegal, SOCIAL NORMS CHANGE, laws change, so... it's about time laws on gay marriage change too.
isaacthorn 10 months ago
@isaacthorn Can I just say, I couldn;t have put that better myself :-) You are totally on it with your point

He makes a very good point. I don't agree with everything he said but his core point is insightful and solid.
KPMcGeeZer 10 months ago
Of course being black isn't the same as being gay. But all discrimination, whether it be against black people or gay people or women or Muslims or the lower class or what have you, is remarkably similar in its character, even if the particular hardships are quite different.

@keepingitreal15
8 and the percentage of 70% of blacks voting on it
WLegacy30 11 months ago
@keepingitreal15
WLegacy30 11 months ago
@keepingitreal15
the difference between being black AND gay or being black period compare to being a white gay person, oh my goodness, white gays go apeshit and start ranting some of the most nonsensical bullshit in reference to blacks being a bunch of racist, double standard, and crap about, "Why can't I express my opinion." Sighs. These people get on my damn nerves because no matter how you approach the discussion, whites will ONLY hear certain words out of a black person's mouth.
WLegacy30 11 months ago
@keepingitreal15
Also, someone needs to tell these brainwash, socially inept fucks that blacks were NOT the ones who raised $55 million dollars to put the proposal on the ballot in the first place. But anything with blacks will get their damn blood boiling.

Norie92 11 months ago
@Norie92 You don't hate gay people, you just hate that they want equality. Nobody having read your comment needs to be psychic to figure that out, though it seems you're confused about how you feel toward gay people. I am sorry for your cousin, not everyone is fortunate enough to be part of a family that doesn't have anyone as bigoted as you in it.
ggnooz 11 months ago
@ggnooz Are you an idiot? Only I know how I feel. I don't hate them wanting to be "equal" so, really, stop trying to read minds. Don't feel sorry for my cousin. He's lucky not to have a fool like you as a family member. I have it perfectly clear, there is no confusion. I don't hate gays or any aspect about them but I merely disagree with SOME of them on this issue. If you think all gays want gay marriage you are wrong.
Norie92 11 months ago
@Norie92 Clearly I have wasted my time here. How could I possibly have thought that someone who wanted to strip rights from a group of people must hate them. You also back up your statements with some rather impressive name calling. Then to sum it all up, you use a logical fallacy.. Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant. I will certainly think twice, or perhaps start with a first time, before I dare take on the intellectual might of Norie92.
ggnooz 11 months ago
@ggnooz It's you word versus mine on what I am personally thinking. I think I know what I think better than you do. Really. Just stop. You're making a fool of yourself.

(Part B)
What about the straight man who acts effeminently and is bullied, beaten or killed because of it? You see, people DO know how they are going to react--positively or negatively--to someone they percieve to be a homosexual walking down the street.
Also, does the fact that it was physically possible for a Jew to hide in Nazi Germany make their struggle against anti-Semitism somehow NOT a civil-rights issue?
Bigotry is bigotry. Hate is hate. Discrimination is discrimination.
TheStrong32 1 year ago
If race was the only criterion by which people were denied their civil rights you might have a point. But it's not. Of course, every oppressed minority has struggles that are unique to that group, but that doesn't make one group more worthy than another. Besides, there are many more similarieties than there are differences. Some gay men *can* pass as straight (just as a very few light complected African Americans could pass for white), but what about those who can't?
(cont. Part B)
TheStrong32 1 year ago
I think the only reason that Prop 8 passed in the first place was that politically active people were all focused on the race between Barack Obama and John McCain.
If the Prop 8 vote had been held today, it wouldn't have passed.
It was the last gasp of hate in America on the very same day that America shocked itself by electing a black man President and consigning racists in America to minority status forever.
ReliableInsider 1 year ago
So since you can hide your religion, then its Ok to discriminate against them? Stupid rationale. Blacks think that they are the only victims. They can't stand having their professional victimhood threatened.

@tacoma2317 Being gay isn't a choice educate yourself on the topic before you say stupid crap like that. Idiot!
TheJobi1 1 year ago
@TheJobi1 Well under the theory that, "You are born gay" then you also gonna have to have that you are born a rapist and child molester. So then we are gonna have to tolerate their sick perverted behavior and actions just the same as we do the gays. So when a child gets molested or a man's wife gets raped trying telling the parents/husband that they were born that way and we will just have to tolerate it. See how that goes over with those families. BEING GAY IS A CHOICE!!!!
tacoma2317 1 year ago
Of course, Tacoma2317, your analogy is shockingly stupid. If you were educated, you'd understand the difference between loving, adult relationships, and raping a child. Being a moron may or may not be a choice, but not even trying to educate yourself is one.
MattFrame 1 year ago
@MattFrame You my friend are the the stupid ass moron and I really feel sorry for you.

Whine & mewl about it all you want, but God is the one who creates gays in the first place. It's bigots like you who will be bawling when He turns you away from His door. Satan has caught hold of your weak mind and is using you to spread hatred. You make God puke. Repent!

Taco...you worked with yourself? The next best thing to playing with yourself under the desk, I suppose. While I am the first to admit that your abject idiocy is amusing, my kind nature compels me to remind you that educational & psychiatric help are available to you, should you ever man up & admit how badly you need them.
MattFrame 1 year ago
@MattFrame Dude when you said that God creates gays, you just identified yourself in a nut shell right there. You obviously don't get it because your a moron with a very low mentality and IQ. A wise man once said it is impossible to win a argument with a ignorant man and you are a prime example of that. Moreover, you are also a prime example of what the Bible speaks of in Revelation in the final days. I have given you way more of my time than you deserve, I can't tolerate stupid people.
tacoma2317 1 year ago
Taco, again, you're jumping to irrational conclusions borne out of your own relentless inanity. Acknowledging the truth about the Lord's creating homosexuals does not make one gay, any more than pointing out that your mind is fried makes the truth teller as oily as you. By your own admission, you can't tolerate yourself, & while I understand your self-loathing is justified, why not man up & let your moral, intellectual, & spiritual betters mold your mind into something worthwhile?

It takes the seed of a man and the egg of a woman to create a gay man too. You know, gays CAN reproduce--they can make use of artificial means of conception or adoption just like straight infertal couples. There is no difference. And studies have shown that chilren raised by gays are no more likely to be gay than children raised by straight couples.

TheStrong32 1 year ago
I definately see what you are saying, zennie, but I think there is a decent amount similarity between the race civil rights fight and the gay civil rights fight. Although I do think it's ridiculous to say "Gay is the same as Black", I do think that the arguments used against miscegenation (inter-racial marriage) back in the day are drastically similar to the arguments used against gay marriage today. Other than that, I agree that it is a very thin anology, and I can see how it could be offensive
Johnson154 1 year ago
You seem to imply that someone can change their sexuality. How
realistic is this for most people?. I would say people have the right to be
who they are. I agree with you however that anti-Prop 8 argument suggested African Americans that they are not normal because they're black. Bad approach.
In a larger context I beliveve that most religions cause immense suffering
to LGBT people through a flawed theology pertaining to human sexuality
and its far reaching consequence to all people.

U were not. U chose
moshesh 1 year ago
@moshesh Ok here we go. What proof do you have?
You can write anything you wish on youtube or others can make
claims in a political campaign like Prop 8. However in a court
of law you MUST PROVE your allegations. This is why The pro-
prop 8 forces failed in court. The bottom line
is that either you believe that gay people are entitled to
due process and equal protection under law or you believe
gays are a permanent sub-class of humans who
present a clear threat to society. Answer.
Pilgrim812 1 year ago
@Pilgrim812 I got to go with number two upon choosing. This is not a civil rights issue. Homo's want society to accept the immorality of homosexuality. I am not contributing to or buying that. I don't hate them I hate the act of homosexuality.
moshesh 1 year ago
@moshesh I certainty have no reason to seek the acceptance of anyone.
That is not what this is about.
But state sanctioned discrimination is an issue of civil rights by
its very definition. Just how cognizant are you of the legal (civil) issues of marriage equality, D.O.M.A. and DADT? If you hate homosexuality, then go right ahead that is your decision. But laws that restrict or exclude a group in society must be vested in a rational and compeling reason to stand up under legal
scrutiny
Pilgrim812 1 year ago
@moshesh Recent legal decisions in the federal courts have determined
that the ban on gay marriage, D.O.M.A. and DADT all have no rational basis.
I do not want society to accept homosexuality but insist that my rights be recognized
and respected. This is not about you.
Pilgrim812 1 year ago
@moshesh Although the legal decisions are at the district or lower court
level, we should know in about two years the final outcome. Your opinions
about the nature of homosexuality are yours to hold.
Pilgrim812 1 year ago
@moshesh The whole homosexual agenda is a carefully presented arguement that tries to present an unnatural and immoral chosen life style as if it were normal and should be accepted. It is simply a threat to the basic family unit, and frankly our constitutional rights by attempting to impose their views on the religous freedoms that this nation was founded upon. They do this through misinformation, intimidation, half truths, and circumventing the due process of law.
steeltalon2010 1 year ago
@steeltalon2010
Its not a choice idiot who would chose to be discriminated against? You are a narrow minded moron. This nation wasn't based on religion, it was formed against the tyranny of religions. Federalist letter 70 or 71 explains the separation of church and state. Not that you have any clue what I am talking about anyway.
TheJobi1 1 year ago
@moshesh Not true. You should really look into the scientific research that has been done on this issue. The research concludes that the overwhelming majority of gay people never experienced a sense of "choice" about being gay, and that the vast majority of gay people cannot change their orientation by will. In fact, research shows that there is most likely a physiological aspect to homosexuality (i.e. prenatal hormone influence, greater neuron connections between brain hemispheres, etc.)

moshesh 1 year ago
@moshesh its more logical than coming from some mythical creature
idaman12345 1 year ago
@moshesh We are reaching critical mass on this issue and it boils down to two camps to which people are gravitiating: 1) Belief that homosexual men and women have protection under the due process and equal protection provisions of the U.S. Constitution or 2) that homosexuals represent a permanent sub-
class of citizen that are inherently a threat to society. To which argument do
you gravitate?
Pilgrim812 1 year ago
@moshesh Hm. Interesting argument. First off, not only are we the product of ape-like organisms, we are still classifiable as apes! Again, we ARE apes. Second, I find it hilarious that you dismiss the Theory of Evolution without a second thought. Do you also dismiss the Theory of Gravitation? the Theory of Relativity? The Theory of Electromagnetism? I mean, for christs sake, you are using a computer (a product of science) to say science is somehow willfully making things up and lying about facts
Johnson154 1 year ago
@Johnson154 In that first sentence you wrote it should look like this: "First off, not only am I the product of ape like organisms, I am still classified as an ape!" And so on. That is what you should have written. God created me specifically different from apes. Try writing the sentence in the way I humbly submit to you and I will be glad to respond.
