  • Why you don't cover the beams with concrete cement to the level of the solid?

  • Did they ever say how big this deck is?

  • @dragonnight812 In part #1 he uses a layout that says the deck is 16’ x 16’, although when you are building a deck you’ll have to design yours to meet your needs.

  • Blah, blah, blah, and that's how it's done...slow down assholes.

  • @150grnballistictip There's this thing called the pause button.

  • screws break when twisted and bent. nails will just bend. always use nails for this kind of thing.

  • I like to use ring-shank nails, that resist backing out. Of course, a screw here and there is nice. With the bendability and cheapness and ease of driving nails, plus a few screws for a tight hold, you can't go wrong. Keep in mind that if you plan on expanding the deck in a year or two when you can save the money, use screws only: Much easier to disassemble one end for expansion if you used screws.

  • use makita impact drivers....

  • use a joist gun.....

  • krÂss_lÈûtÊ_sucht_màl_nåch:_olikohle_Åùf_gøoglE_vôll_gÊíl

  • where is all the mexicans at?

  • Why use joist hangers on the rim joist if it's not a ledger board that bears much of the weight?

  • look this vid "The real carpentry ! (revised version)" and have fun ^^

  • i see oliver got pulled in again for the manual labour.....mind...the job looks quite rough...blame oliver....haha

  • Why put spaces between the decking planks? the wood will shrink anyway

  • Use a framing hammer you wacko!

  • @burnproof21 They would all still be 16" centres cause they are all 16" apart centred from first one.

  • Dude.

    Nails are stronger.

  • Good vid

  • Dewalt tool are good..

  • If code was to measure every 16 inches on center, why did you make an X for the beam to be to the right of the center mark?

  • these are fun to watch. I wish i had a house that didn't have a deck i would totally build one

  • i would have put 45 degree mitres when joining the rim joists looks better

  • i thought that was like deck like skateboard

  • @sk8erboy00013 i did too but if you think about it this can be used 4 skaters we can build this and skate the stairs or the ledge haha

  • impact drill???////?????

  • @FLORINOID lol is it an impact or a drill? haha!

  • before purchasing your materials contact or read all specs on what type of fastners used for the materials use on project. decks can last a lifetime if done correctly

  • How not to build a deck - watch "My Money Pit", parts 1-3.

  • never use nails for decking, thats retarted after awhile nails pop up,,,use decking screws for fastining................

  • @brnemer Yes,even ring shank nails will come out over a period of time.

  • i seen idiots build decks with a slope for drainage! lol

  • when marking for 16 on center using a stock that is 1 1/2" thick as shown in the video u should actually mark at 15 1/4 so that the center of the joist is at the actualy 16" :P o and it is also important to crown the joist witch would be determining the "curve" or "bow" in the wood and you want 2 make then face all the same way preferably with the crown up

  • Great video. I heart hurricane ties.

  • Nails are stronger than scroes and when it is time to take apart the deck demo is much easier on a deck built with nails. Nails for everything underneath the deck and scroes for the top planks only.

  • For fastening, screws are stronger than nails. They can be removed with less damage to the material (especially wood) than nails.

  • So you're saying build with nails so it's easier to demo? that makes no sense.

  • dude never use nails use screws

  • Screws are not recommended for corner brackets or hurricane ties, they don't have enough sheer strength. Only use the nails recommended by the bracket manufacturer.

  • @ballsniff13

Yes I wonder what the motivation for the nails is.

Apart from not being able to reach with a screwdrivah

  • @ballsniff13 bend a screw - it break. now bend a nail, it bend over and over. Nails have higher shear values.... and stuff.

  • @ballsniff13 You would wonder how tight nails are compared to screws. Nails never break and the price of nails is 10% of screws :) This matters as soon as you have to deal with 2000 or more pieces.

  • @ballsniff13 nails are stainless steel

  • This is enjoyable! I think I have done something likethat without so much tools but -of course- to have evey tool makes things easiest!

    Thanks for share
