  • buying a ps3 next week will have whole uncharted series cant wait to play these games never got the chance to play em on ps2 they looks like a zelda type game lol

  • HELLO EVERYONE THIS GAME IS IN "3D" DID YOU GUYS FORGET.... AND YES AM PLAYING IT IN3D & YES IS FUCKING EPIC ON PS3..

  • Comment removed

  • PS3: higher res., AF, AA :D

  • where can i get the version of PS3 (shadow of colossus) or what is the name i don't know D:

  • I wish they could done more. But yeah.... You can't improve on perfection :)

  • Wow the only thing difference is lag and less blurry :/

  • the difference is the anti aliasing :D

  • @nlastjoe And? Does that REALLY make a significant difference all things considered?

The feel might be slightly better, but if you ask me the original PS2 version was perfect enough already.

  • @WalkthroughAgentX actually dont see any difference...

  • I don't have a PS3, but I just ordered this game for the PS2, and I'm perfectly content with that. Graphically speaking, there's not a "big" difference, considering the original came out in 2005. The framerate for the PS3 HD version is highly improved, but I can live with the laggy framerates of the PS2 version just because the graphics so amazing. Even after almost seven years, this game just looks breath-taking. SotC really pushed the technological limitations of the PS2.

  • looks like they updated the framerate and fixed the sharp edges :D

I bought this game today, Its so nostalgic, i used to play this when i was younger

  • ground is moving

  • What people don't understand is that they haven't changed the graphics. Just rendered it in HD so to make it look much cleaner and run much smoother. I like that it has kept the classic PS2 style graphics.

  • i dont see a great difference

  • i was just playing the ps2 version and the graphics are far better then how they're shown here . Not as good as ps3 dah! but this seems a bit critical.

  • the ps3 version is much prettier, yes. But I prefer the ps2 version with all Agro Launching places intact, all orignal glitches intact, cause ya know, the original may be buggy, but its those bugs that helped make up what it is as a game, especially Agro Launching... seeing areas that you normally cant access, and its a shame because those areas give you more breathtaking veiws of the lands than any other normal ledge in the game. While I still play the ps3 version the ps2 version is my favorite

  • ur recording was crap for the PS2 cause ur prob bias

  • If you set the game in progressive scan (480p) on Ps2 there's not that flickering at all.

I own both versions but honestly prefer it as it was conceived on Ps2 using a Sony component cable on a full hd let tv. Moreover,it's also possible to force the game to 720p or even 1080i loading the game via Xploder Hdtv with nice results.

  • in the ps2 you can get UP TO 480i if you use the av component cables

  • the only thing ive really noticed is better framerate on the ps3 version. i dont care though... put a $60 price tag on this and i'll still buy it. this is one of my favorite games of all time. this game was a "classic" the day it was released.

  • however, you don't get that pixelation from far-off views anymore. That's a pleasant plus.

  • I saw one cloud shorter than the other in comparison O.o Big whoop, just sayin'.

  • It's amazing how one can tell a story full of emotion with only thirteen minutes of exposition and the rest through gameplay.

  • The original ps2 version was compatible with progressive scan and I also believe 540p output.

  • this is the game of my life and will aways be

  • Comment removed

  • its only "hd ready " =D

  • sweet childhood

  • ps2 is so so so so BAD !!

  • @meppep1 Now, now. We are talking about a 12-year-old console, after all. ;)

  • se ve mejor en ps2

  • best game in my lifetime period

  • Shadow of the colossus at a constant, smoothe 30 frames per second.......fffffffff-uck me.

  • @ShadeCrenshaw Is it only 30fps? (Still an improvement over the PS2, which fluctuated from 6-60... usually in the 10s and 20s.) Because if it's 60, I'll buy the game again for the higher framerate. And I don't even have an HDTV as of now!

  • Goodbye jaggies, also welcome 7.1 surround sound and 3D colossi! Agro keeps scaring the piss out of me in 3D.

  • 2:08 the PS2 version gets extra choppy

  • ¿Por que comparan los graficos de consolas de diferentes generaciones?

es como comparar la GameCube con el Nintendo 64

obviamente las nuevas consolas tienen mejores graficos y más potencia.

  • for europe now let them make a hd version of onimusha 1,2,3 & 4 or a remake of onimusha would have been better but thats up to capcom... a hd version of mgs series zone of the enders 1 & 2(confirmed) and a ps3 excl. ZOE 3 should come...

  • I have to say your video is done very well and has alot of quality to it,alot of people on here uploading raggedy comparison videos could learn a thing or two from you. I liked your video just because you did such an excellent job, keep it up and I am going to subscribe

  • where can u get the game? and they have it for ps3?

  • @ajlowrider97 are u kidding me?

  • i really w8 for The Last Guradian but it would be also nice to defeat some more colossus in SotC 2 :)

  • PS2 Dream Of Wanderer PS3 Dream Comes Real '-'

  • Best compare 02:30-02:44 *_*

  • La unica diferencia q veo yo es q la de ps3 se ve algo menos "opaca" que la de ps2...mmm tengo el sotc de ps2 pero igual me comprare este por el ico(y x el supuesto "3D" q tiene el juego).

  • is this horse so big or the guy so little?

  • @FuckinLittleDreamer The horse is huge. See it in comparison to the corpses of the Colossi, Mono, and even the trees and rocks around the area. Agro is probably a war horse.

  • that suck there really isnt a differance

  • The PS2 graphics for this game were stunning then. I dont see much of a difference even now.

  • The PS3 looks only slightly better than the PS2 console version. So unless new bonus content has been added to the PS3 version i see little incentive on buying the newer version.

  • why the FUCK did i sell my ps2 along with this gem!?

$200 is not enough money to pay for this...

  • 7:18 HOLY **** ON A SANDWICH O.O

  • doesn't look that bad on ps2 but the graphics in this game just looks like shit

  • @eb62224 Are...are you retarded?

  • The lighting almost looks better on the ps2 version.

  • This game was so brilliant it is now my religion. I have yet to come up with a name yet though...

  • @SirRavenIII Fumito Ueda.

  • Of any book I've read, movie I've seen, song I've heard, or game I've played, this was the most stunning and emotionally provoking fiction experience of my life.

  • @kjun13 You haven't played Suikoden II.

  • @kjun13 man thats pretty pathetic

  • Still would of been nice if they just redid the whole game. Cheap bastards. (and yet I still purchased it lol)

  • i love this game on ps2 and ps3 this will always be my favourite game of all time

  • 2 people are orphans.

  • 2 People have a xbox

  • this games are the best, but i think they shouldve done actual ps3 graphics, just imagine the size of the map with ps3 graphics

  • There is definitely a difference. the ps3 version is definitely cleaned up. it doesn't have that foggy look, the colors are more vivid and it's clearly rendering faster. No more glitchy flickers. :)

  • GOT! they cleared the hell out this game! H.D FTW!

  • im glad i got the ps3 version. On my free time of not killing any of the colossi, I run around to find a high place to look at the scenery and just enjoy its environment.

  • when i was a kid playing sotc...i thought it was the best game ever. I still think it is what of the best ideas for a game. Im buyin a ps3 for this. Im especially interested in Ico too. Never played it.

  • @andrewevear Bro me too! I'm getting a PS3 for the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus collection. And other games like Uncharted, Killzone, Resistance and Little Big Planet.

  • the PS2 version does give a more of a cinematic effect during the cut scenes. however the ps3 versions is still great

  • @ImrickJamesbitch11

It is hard to tell. You need to buy the game and play it on your HD TV 60 inch screen to get the real difference

  • One of the few games that really maxed out the power of the PS2. Respect for the people behind this they must have worked a lot of long hours on the PS2. An example of what the sony consoles are capable of if the programming is done right.

  • looks like they just turned up the filtering in order to get a smoother look

  • Comment removed

  • The framerate it's smoother and has more slightly detailed textures

  • the remastering took away the artistic style of the graphics.

  • Who cares about the graphics so long as the game is good?

  • @TheWapple8 i do. :) but fu*k me. THIS GAME IS WAY TOO GREAT TO RUIN.

  • It doesn't matter, Considering the circumstances of the PS2 graphic detail at the time this game was made it's very well made for it's time. So if SOTC was made for PS3 it would be more advanced then any game we have out at this period of time.

  • ps2 is better.... on ps3 you can see this graphics every day..... on ps2 is rare

  • not much of a difference

  • Please come out for the PS Vita it just has to! Hopefully they bring out every HD remake for the Vita, just like Final Fantasy X is coming out for PS3 and Vita!

  • So for those who have bought this. Would you think it would be a good idea to go to Gamestop and trade in the PS2 version of Shadow for this pack? Money wise, not bias "I can't let go of my old copy to get it again" - wise.

  • dude, to think that when this game came out for ps2 for the very first time, it's graphics were unbeatable......I wonder how our sons and grandsons will have their games.....

  • Dear VenomtheOne,

they'll probably have got other things on their minds, considering that the zionist/NWO guys will have fully fucked up this planet and their inhabitants by then..

    : (

  • @PupsLeonandI think positive, man, you're not helping.....

  • VenomtheOne ,

you are of course right in a way, but there is a difference between being positive and realistic and I am being realistic, that's the only way to learn from history, since this has all happened 'several' times before and most people have looked away which made it possible. So yes, I acknowledge what you are saying and I am trying to stay sane, but prepared! After all I am playing FFXII in the moment and have clocked up over 60 in two weeks, that keeps me from thinking too much ; )

  • @PupsLeonandI Nice to know someone other than me likes FFXII XD

  • Hey Mespritroth,

liking it is an understatement I'd say, I got it three weeks ago to date and played so far 80 hours!

I am living that blimmin' game ;)

I am not even half way through and it is awesome, just now I am off to teach that GillSnapper a lesson, be back later with it's scalp..

    Come to daddy, big boy!

    ;)

  • PS: I've just ordered both of the games on ebay, and once I've have had the chance to play them, I shall comment on the games only and hopefully make a awe inspiring contribution to mankind that way..

Hey, the spell checker tells me, no mistakes, not bad eh?

    ^^

  • @PupsLeonandI you should've used amazon instead...

  • Why is that? Are they cheaper or just because feebay is a scavenger rip off mogul??

  • @PupsLeonandI It's England exports, which makes it cheaper, i guess....

  • I know one thing for sure: the PS3 version has a much smoother framerate than the PS2 version.

  • such a beautiful game

  • When i first played this on ps2 many years ago i thought best game ever. I sold my ps3 then this came out. I JUST WENT AND BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE JUST FOR THIS GAME!

  • @halogeorge1 LIKE A BOSS

  • @halogeorge1 Why did you sell your PS3 in the first place? You're nuts.

  • @halogeorge1 I DID THE SAME THING :0 the price is soooooo much lower x)

  • @halogeorge1 I sold my xbox for this game :3

  • which one does better .........Pcsx2 3D10 with 4x scaling 16 AA or PS3 graphics

  • I'll be buying it for PS3 for sure..Just because I love this game so damn much, I don;t care if it means owning it twice :P

  • @AngelBaby977onRS there is also a sequel coming out for ps3.

  • @TheCheesyShorts Eh, to be honest..You can't beat the original one lol

  • @AngelBaby977onRS bro, i bought 3 different versions of Resident Evil 4, so feel no shame.... Or "there will be no shame"

  • @P00PD0G89 I'm a girl, so isn't it bra? XD and Ok, no shame then >:)

  • the movement is smooth too

  • There's any chance that someone shared this game with me...just saying, i know no one will shared it with me...cause i cant give something in return, just 2 games free from PSN DeadNation and InFamous, but i think everybody got it...still...someone could share it with me...contact me with a private message...please,for the love to SHADOW OF THHE COLOSSUS...yeah i know i suck monkey balls

  • the PS2 version will always be the game i fell in love with. i'm sure it wasn't team ICO's intention, but the graininess and jumpy frame rates always made the game seem more cinematic to me. still, i'm really looking forward to playing the PS3 version.

  • this game in 3d is SOOOOOOO GOOD.

  • For some weird reason....I love the effect the low frame rate gives to the ps2 version. It feels nostalgic, I don't know xD

Anyway I'm getting the ps3 version for sure.... Seeing this on HD is so worth it.

  • As amazing as it looks in HD

The old graining look just kind of.. fit it...

  • Cranked up the AA and better textures.

  • In my mind, SotC could only be told through either this videogame, a mini-series, or a book.

-The mini-series would only have to cast a few people. The main character doesn't have to talk much, but rather the emotions on his face would tell how he's feeling atm. The entirety of the ep. would revolve around him traveling to each colossus and at the end, kill them.

-The book would be kind of the same thing, but we would read his inner thoughts and the surroundings would be described beautifully.

  • this and the Yakuza games are the best reason to get a PS3.

  • @TheFatalInstinct1 so agree

  • This game and the God of War series are EPIC!!! !! !!!

  • beautiful music

  • ps3 much better

  • i wanna buy a PS3! but i dont have the fucking money!!

  • @SpartanOfAmerica1234

my problem is that I have the money, but I have to save for something eles =/

  • this games really relaxing 2 play so huge yet so empty

  • Not going to lie. This is probably THE best reason to buy a PS3 right now. I haven't felt more compelled.

  • they are very simmalar proves shadow of the colossus has some of the best garfics for ps2

  • ist the ps3 really better?

  • Comment removed

  • @piterscott thx xD

  • This game, was literally the only reason why I kept my Ps2.

  • This is way better than IGN's comparison. Great job!

  • I have to say finally they gave the game justice by the hd and to truly enjoy the art of both sotc and ico. Nothing short from amazing games

  • I want this game so bad, but i've gone bankrupt :(

  • When I first saw the huge building and heard the music at 2:08 , i instantly knew this would be an amazing game.

  • AGROOOO!! is a beautiful and sad history now in HD ToT

  • The diference is not as dramatic as for ICO, but the game was also created 4 years later. It looked better to begin with. That being said, the framerate on th ps3 did not stutter once. The color is stronger, and the detail is sharper. It is most noticable in close up shots. I noticed that the draw distance is significantly better on the ps3 as well.

  • Never played sotc but i kinda want to...

  • @REAPER3382 you must play sotc it is one of the best games ever made...get it now NOW DAMN YOU

  • At first the differences are subtle, kinda makes you wonder if you're truly getting your money's worth out of the PS3 version, but then as the intro gets further in and you notice how much better the PS3 version looks when it's done side by side, you find yorself thinking "Dayum! Talk about amazing!" You especially notice the detail on the bridge scene in the intro. That "grain" was aliasing, whereas the PS3 version fixes that and makes things look alot clearer.

  • beautiful

just cleaned and connected my ps3 for this sucker

  • woooow..... the frames is good

  • We can't see the diference between them in youtube.

Only when you are in front of the hd tv you will notice the diference.

  • Played Both games on PC using emulators, looks pretty much the same as PS3! Maybe some upgraded textures in the PS3 version, but not a lot else

  • @whunterknight I rather disagree, an emulator can certainly bump up the resolution, I won't argue that technical detail, however, emulators can also expose glitches and the like, and while I am sure they look good on the emulator, it's just not the same as playing it on a built-from-the-ground-up revamp.

  • @IcedEarthaholic Pros of PS3 version, framerate is a bit better, fixes for minor, occasional exposed glitches, upgraded blurs and water effects.

Pros for emulated PC version, can play in 1080p (not just 720p), higher anti-aliasing power, no PS3 required :)

  • @whunterknight ha ha, but in order to play games on a PS2 emulator, one does need a monster rig to do so, even a dual-core processor at times bogs down. Also, SotC plays just fine in 1080p, trust me, I play it on my 40" Sony Bravia, and the only problem is a very slight delay in texture loading at times in some areas. BFD I says, it doesn't affect the gameplay whatsoever. If it was making things glitchy, and downright unplayable, then I'd definitely call that out, as is though, this is awesome.

  • @IcedEarthaholic Its 1280x1080p tho :-(. And a dual-core pc is hardly a "monster" now a days.

  • @keironewoodgate lol i know right, i have a dual core and "im like damn i need to upgrade my processor"

  • @JesusStrikesBack1994 lol it doesnt cost much to have a console destroyer if you're wise in purchases. My quad core, 4gb ram and gtx 470 machine has cost me £280 inc monitor so far :-)

  • still better than any wii game

  • In some parts looks like a PS3 game

  • does not matter, the game is incredible in both the ps2 and ps3

  • the frame rate is so good

  • oh my what a difference...

  • no more jaggies!

  • you only with pcsx2 the ps2 to represent the minimum and the maximum used to represent the ps3 aff

  • wow i'm so buying this game never had the chance to play it on ps2 getting the ps3 collection today i hope ..

  • naaaaaaaaaaa xDDDDDDD

  • OK, with the upcoming games like NBA2K12, Forza4, Battlefield3, Yourshape 2012, Skyrim, Saints Row 3, Ico and uncharted 3 I really need to play Mario and collect a bunch of coins and I mean alot of coins...

  • buying, this.

  • i like dormin's voice

  • And that opening soundtrack, truly a soul touching :)

  • I wish they have leave that fog effect in the game, its now to clear and there's no that sensation of epic

  • Wow cant wait

  • PS2 version looks alot better...anyone notice.

  • @Rokumonsen666 Take off your nostalgia goggles bro.

  • @Shinzu92 From the technical aspect the PS3 version is better, There is better frame rate and the world is sharper. But to achieve that some of the atmosphere was taken away. In the original versions there was a noticeable grainy effect on the games that built to the atmosphere in the PS3 version they decreased it to give it the "HD" look. so it is definitely clearer and better looking. But these are still great games both versions are good Playing PS3 version now. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!!
