Betty I love your site! I have tried many of your recipes, love the garlic and cheese grits! My question is..........How do you eat all this stuff, and stay so trim? I live in an apt, so 20 flights of stairs a day works for me. Before I have club sandwich! It would take me a week to eat that sandwich! Love your recipes.
@Hotrodluvmut1 I make a wide variety of foods, and I choose items that I think lots of people will like to eat. Personally, I don't eat a lot, so a very small portion is all I take. Thanks for your lovely comment!
Betty my kids and I have watched all of your shows. We absolutely love them, you make it easy for them to learn to cook and you have never made anything we havent loved. We even loved your blooper episodes!
Betty, what I usually do to prevent the sandwich from falling down when I'm cutting it, I put toothpicks through the sandwich before I cut it. It saves a lot of trouble. It looks tasty, though! --Aaron
Oh wow.. I never knew that they sold cooked bacon before, and you just heat it?! thats amazing. iv never cooked.. im eating cup of noodles as i watched this =( but uv inspired me to actually cook doesnt seem so bad..
Very interesting. I might try that also by subsituting the turkey with chicken, I more often have around as a leftover, in my fridge. Mayo with some dijon mustard will do, for me. Thx U for the basic recipe. I am now 'starving' to try this! .. ; ) ..with a cold guiness probably! Also, maybe a half a deli pickle!
Hi Betty, that looks delicious! A quick tip: you can stick the four toothpicks into the four corners of the sandwich before cutting it. That way, when you cut the sandwich, each part stays stacked. Also, you can use a super sharp knife so you don't have to press down as much while cutting, causing the sauce to ooze out the sides. Thanks for sharing! I'm definitely going to try your recipe. Yummy :P
looks good. a tip for yourself would be to put the toothpicks in before you cut it to avoid any of the sandwich to fall. also maybe a little too much spread.
I always make it myself. You will find the way I make it under Betty's Baked Bacon and Scrambled Eggs," if you are interested! Thanks for the question!
This looks delicious! I especially liked that tasty dressing that you mixed up. All of those strong flavors are a great compared to the usual boring mayo. It also presented wonderfully! Thanks Betty =)
Betty... this looked so good that my mom is making that sauce right now to put on my dad's sandwich for work today! LOL! Wow... this sandwich looks so good! I am droooling! I'm so hungry! You know you've got a great sandwich when it falls apart! The messier, the better! Loved it! You look beautiful as usual Betty! Hope all is well with you and hubby! Big hugs coming your way!
Thanks, Amy. What a compliment to make my sandwich spread! You are always so upbeat that you really help me with my site! Thanks for all of your support and encouragement! I really appreciate every bit of it!!!
Update... we made your sandwich spread and I tasted it.... WOW! I love it!!!! Betty, you should bottle this! This is better than anything you can buy in a store. Hey, you should open a restaurant! Betty's Diner! I can see the lines forming as we speak! Love your recipes sweetie and thank you for this particular one! Dad will have the BEST sandwich at work today! :-) Hugs!!!
You Know Thats A Good Recipe Because Its Easy To Change. I Always Find Ways To Take Classic Foods Into Italian Food So Instead Of Whole Grain I Use Semolina bread. And For The Spread I Make An Old Sicilian Sauce. Instead Of The Swiss I Use Mozzarella and Parmesan .For The Honey Ham I Used Proscuiotto .Use The Lettuce, But Then For The Bacon I Use Pancetta. Wow! Thats Good. I Like Youre Cooking Its Not Something That You Stick To You Can Branch From It Thats The Quality Of A Real Chef.
Thanks for your comment! I really love the way you chose items that are just right for substituting! I hope everyone reads your comment and learns to make each recipe in a way that suits them! Thanks for your compliments!
Thanks! I hope you have a chance to try it! It really tastes good, and it doesn't fall apart when you're eating it--like it did when I was assembling it!!!
I think it would be low in calories and fat ( as an entire meal), if you 1) use turkey for both meats--no ham 2) substitute fat-free mayo in place of the spread, 3) be sure to use only white cheese-like the Swiss I used, and 4) use whole wheat bread, toasted with no additional butter or oil. Use as much lettuce and tomato as you like. It will still be a very tasty sandwich, but should be allowable for your dad's diet. Thanks for your question!
The dressing looks delicious & definitely serves as a tastier alternative to the ready-to-use dressing I often use. I'll toss in a few pickles too. All in all thanks for another great treat Betty!
I have a pretty silly question. Now, what do you think is the reason that restaurants put 3 (or more) pieces of bread into a club sandwich? (I myself can't eat all the bread, but I wondered if it was like the "Hot Brown" or other historical sandwiches and was invented with 3 pieces? )
To be a true club sandwich, it should be "double-decker." Like you, I don't care for all that bread, so I just eliminate the middle piece, and arrange the layers a little differently. I think it's just a historical (traditional) thing. Thanks for noting that mine is different, in case anyone wondered what happen to that other "deck!"

I made mine with 3 slices of bread and I put some type of ham (something called boiled jambon), bacon, edam cheese and lettuce.
For spread I used just mayonaise (and I put just a little of 1000-Island dressing on half of it).
It was great.
Next time I'll try with turkey. Did you use smoked turkey?

@Grotomode Thanks for the great feedback! I really appreciate it! I didn't use smoked turkey, but that would be good!

Very tasty Sandwich but I used some very Old cheese called Old Amsterdam!
Let the knife do his job and use toothpicks before you cut the sandwich.

it was the best sandwich i ever had... will never forget it!
