The fact that he went for so damn long without a major singles title is freggin nuts. When he finally won the GHC title I was ecstatic. When he lost it to Ogawa the first time I cried, lol. Almost the same thing happened when he lost it to Marufuji but, in all fairness, Marufuji deserved it.
It helps everyone in NOAH in the end. Akiyama will probably be the one to take the strap off of Kensuke. In which case, they'll need credible challengers, since Akiyama's due for a long title reign.

Misawa's still dependable at his age, but other than that your right. Truthfully, Misawa should either retire, or go into semi-retirement, and who says the champ should be a heavyweight? I wouldn't mind seeing someone like Kenta or Marufuji get a chance at the big gold.
Don't get me wrong, I love Misawa. He just has been champion for so long running from AJPW up to NOAH. New blood would be nice, even though Misawa is reliable. I think they should get Hirooki Goto and make him champ, God knows he deserves it.
I'm saying they should steal him away and make him champion since NJPW hasn't taken the chance to. You know, like back in the day when Hansen left for AJPW or when Brody left for NJPW, have some good old fashion, federation jumps.
@RoderickStrong Its called the GHC Heavyweight Belt, so it has to go to heavyweights. NOAH usually respects the weight limits like MMA or boxing. Marufuji had to bulk up to heavyweight to get his title reign

Actually, Akiyama only did the SD Alpha twice (once on Kentaro Shiga, the other on Marufuji).
He has done the SD Gamma at least 3 times or more (the 3 I know of are one each on Marufuji, Yone, and Shiozaki).
