You hath further inspired me w/ my van as well. I have a 1992 Toyota Previa all wheel drive that one would find simply beeping when finished ! ! ! The galley take direction from you in the underpinnings whilst I use 1X1s & 2.7 mm. plywood. Though I have removed switches , controls , other such things that had weight serving no real purpose in a camper van .
nice.....=) am starting a similar project at the end of this summer so will be picking at your vids for some tips i`m sure.......keep up the good work
Hello, just came across this site; nice van indeed. I'm thinking about a similar project in time. I've travelled round France in Toyota and VW campers and will take ideas from them. However not sure about the shower. Does the water come from the main tank used for the sink? How is it heated? Does it drain into another tank or to the ground? Is the van smelly after toilet use? Does the weight of the conversion affect the MPG much? Your videos are inspirational! Keep up the good work.
Shower water comes from a seperate 25L plastic jerry container you take into the shower with you (pump motor drops into the tank - big on-off switch on the shower wall.)
All water is heated by the kettle only.
The shower has its own drain system leading into the grey water tanks.
Toilet is very clean and has no smell issues.
Might have lost a couple of MPG with the extra weight, but nothing major.
i might make my own camper van with a new chevy express long passenger van.. should cost a bit but it would be a modern style . not like those 1970 shaggin wagons.. no offense to them they are pro
now the way i would make my bed in that, this is just me, i would make it be able to pull down from the ceiling and have a lock on the hinge so that it fly up to the ceiling at night when you sleep, and then right behind or beside it, have a recliner or somhing to just sit and watch tv, that be awsome, do you have the van heating system only??
excellent idea using floor linoleum on the bathroom walls. Ive been wondering about an alternative to FRP panels. Converting an old 14' Uhaul box on an 89 Ford F-350 diesel myself. Its mind boggling the cost of readymade RV parts.
Thanks! It's a short wheel base Renault master (one of the smallest transit-sized vans you can get). Hope to get lots of camping in it this year (that is, if we get a summer!)
is this cheaper then buying an acual camper van?
yzrider102 10 months ago
@yzrider102 Yes, in the UK, it's much much much cheaper than buying a proper motorhome - not sure about the US or other parts of the world though.

Great Van
The bathroom looks extremely small though- can you stand in the shower?
rcdude98 2 years ago
only if you are below 5ft 4in ! otherwise you have to lurch a bit - I'm 6ft 1, but still manage to shower successfully without any major issues.

Hey, your van totally rocks
Do you have the blueprints of your project so I can have a better ideia of what to do in my van. I'm also looking forward for the next episode ;)
Best regards, from a Portuguese traveller.

Sorry, I'm not anal enough to make blueprints! LOl! I just make it up in my head as I go along.
The next episode is already up - see my channel.

yes sorry, this is a particularly quiet video. its ok through headphones.

That's brilliant Rick! I can't believe you actually managed to fit a shower in there!
I would go for cream speckled lino/tiles. These will match the colour and also help hide dirt and scuff marks.
StinkyKnobcheese 3 years ago 2
Nice project!
Burgundy goes well with cream. I know there is a large durable, plain burgundy lino tile available from various suppliers.
It's ridged similar to an easter egg to make it non-slip, too, which would be useful for when you step out of that shower room! :-)
It's probably available in many other colours as well, but I'd recommend something non-slip, whatever you get.

Thanks for the tip. I was thinking along the lines of red/brown, burgandy sounds nice.

Its a really rocking set up. Lets you stay anywhere, eh? How big is this van?
Snow in April??? its a cold one this year- low number of sun spots until 2010.
