The label 'French and Indian War' is not employed by the best of scholars. It is almost exclusively used in the United States. The Seven Years' War was a global war, and North America was but one of its many theatres.

Yup, it's the French and Indian war, and a lot of people also know it as the Seven Years War... The first battle took place in 1754, and the war was officially declared by the French and English in 1756 making it, considerably, the Seven Years War.
