A lot of the stuff, including the waterfall scene, was shot in Harford County, MD. Deer Creek is the water source of the waterfall, Kilgore Falls. I just went there for a field trip to collect rock samples, and could see the angle where the camera would film. it was pretty cool =). If you don't beleive me, just check Wikipedia.
