The debate was finished 800 years ago with the Magna Carta, over again about 220 years ago with the Constitution, and again about 50 years ago with the Geneva Conventions. What has changed? The Republicans are trying to convince us that all three documents are invalid because of a risk to Americans. The whole philosophy behind these documents which the Extreme Right does not grasp is that our civilization is safer with these documents than without them. Jesus said "Torture your enemy," right?
