  • Al B Sure was good friends with Heavy D. I think they went to the same High School.

  • Actually Al B. Sure wrote this song about a girl from HS that he was crushing on - the girl was actually into girls. Hence "Off On Your Own Girl"

  • Actually Al B. Sure wrote this song about a girl from HS that he was crushing on - the girl was actually into girls. Hence "Off On Your Own Girl"

  • i use to jam to this song b4 i really knew what he meant but i still love it, as well as him

  • What the heck does this song mean???

  • @ronenb001 he is asking her do she wanna get off on her own, in other words they were in a relationship and she wanna split, now he is doing what he left her to do HURT.

  • Shoulder pads, wop-dancin', and cabbage-patchin' in full effect...nothin' but late 80s...and good times!

  • Clear Channel wreaked R&B, and Puffy Combs did hip hop in.

  • NEW JACK Forever!!!!!

  • YAAAAH!! DIS MA SHYT!!! MA NIGA AL B SURE RIPPED DA FUCK OUT DIS SHYT!!

  • i luv dis beat

  • @17DM I was born in 85' too and sometimes I wish I was about ten years older so I could've really experienced this era of music. I used too hear these songs as a small child on the radio, but I was too little to truly appreciate it. I agree with the Timbaland comment. Both him a Diddy produced pure fire in the 90s, and now they are trying to please this current " no musical taste having" teenage generation by producing what sells. The music industry has sacraficed art for the almighty dollar.

  • Never mind, its the prince song when doves cry

  • whts the sample in this song?

  • I LOVE THA 80"S BIG SIXX WAS HERE

  • @twinkeez2003 the smurf and the prep. Hands on your hips, nodding up and down then hand shuffle in the air. Closed down many a club nights on this one.

  • @blahmayne910 i ask myself that question every time i play shit like this.

  • I always wonder why does he have such a high ass singing voice, then when he speaks, it's a whole OTHER story???lls

  • @antigoniem06 He sings high because he sings in falsetto :)

  • @goddesstoby we do knw al b can`t sing right? just checkin. and im not sure how he can sing in falsetto and the mans voice is passed deep.

  • still a big fan though but al can`t do it live

  • hell i didn't even know what off on your own meant lol i was to young i just knew i liked the song ha!!!

  • NEW JACK SWING RULEZ

  • @coolymac Amen

  • i dont mean to be a hater (aI b sure is heavy) but..why is noone addressing the fact that aI b sure has ONE eyebrow!!

  • @pauliephizzle I was thinking the same thing. I was like, damn Al B has a unibrow. Wow. Imma 80's babies and did not know this. Probably because I was not allowed to watch music videos all that much but do remember listening to his music.

  • @pauliephizzle That's an excellent point!

  • WTF why shuld trey songz remake this! leave the classics alone can't no one touch this why? that'll be a insult to al cause no one has a voice like al but who? AL!!!

  • @6402680 That guy is his cousin & he produced all of his hits!

  • 80'S WAS THE BOMB!!! WISH I COULD REWIND THE TIME WHEN MUSIC WAS MUSIC:( REAL MUSIC HERE!

  • This still my shyt, believe it!!

  • WHATEVER !!!!! haha

  • realy i love this song that good derek go on my frind

  • I never heard this song before but i kinda digg this, starting to like this. Very much.

  • Great memories on this. Even though it was 1980's music, it sounds like the beginning of the New Jack Swing era which was the 1990's.

  • @KaraMurphee The New Jack era started in 1988 with the arrival of Teddy Riley & Guy!

  • @musiqgem your half right. it started with Teddy Riley who was crafting those early new jack beats, (Keith Sweat, Uptown Records) which would later develop into Guy

  • @musiqgem because first of all Teddy Riley arrived long before Guy. He was the one that produced the classic hip hop bangers: The Show for Dougie Fresh & the Get Fresh Crew, Go See The Doctor for Kool Moe Dee & that was like in 1985. He had a group out called Kids At Work like in 1986. So I dont know where you got 1988 was the arival of Teddy Riley; you must either be: very young , very dumb, a know it all, or from the West Coast lol

  • ON THE STRENGTH!!!!!!!!!!!

  • trey songs would be amazing on it

  • @daladyinkslanga trey songs dont know nuttin about this old shool shit

  • @bigdawg382

  • he went hard on the hoe lol

  • 36 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive.......oh how i miss the old neighborhood.

Moving there changed my destiny. I was sent to the other high school and that is the beginning of where my life would be altered forever.

  • this was one of my jams...wish they still made music like this.

  • I'm about to be 30 this year...and wow...when I was 8...music was a beautiful tornado when I heard jams like this...big ups to the producers on this...Kyle West before today's West is to be given credit for this...he was up there with Teddy, Jimmy Jam&Terry Lewis and Babyface.

  • Brings back so many memories. Me and my brother lip singed this song and my pops recorded it. Man those days seemed so different.

  • um-um-um.. i could just see me getting WILD to this back in the day!... too bad music ain't even close to this now..

  • When music was music! It's too bad we don't have more RnB artists from the 80's like Al B Sure, Keith Sweat, SoS Band, Midnight Star and so on and so on. Sad and the future of RnB looks pretty bleak right now. Thank God for youtube to keep great music like this so it lives and doesn't get forgotten. A quick shout out to all the good RnB clubs in Germany that use to play good music when I lived there. Canada in the house!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Derek for knowing great music and for the upload!!

  • 80s soul - you can't beat it!!

  • @lesterroberts1 sure 70's soul

  • @lesterroberts1 Damn Right!!!

  • son im 15 and dis is mad goode

  • ok im 19, is that a an ok age to listen to something three years before you were born? I was born at the dawn of New Jack swing and I have to admit i love NEW JACK SWING the first album I listed to when I was about one years old was Jodeci and Michael Jackson's Dangerous album, and then SWV, the best new jack album I know was these two groups called BROWNSTONE AND JADE that was when I was 4 in 1994 does that count enough!

  • @jjtio its good u listen to old skool cause your generation is so deprived from original music and ...i always listen to old skool and im 29...i go as far back as i can ...thats the best music

  • I would say the best form of music I lived through was the neo soul age, that was back in the late 90's when maxwell, and musiqsoulchild came out, now that was a real age of good music because the artist was so soulful and poetic I will never for get that age ever

  • yeah that was the type of music u get your mind right to,...very cool smooth soulful stuff

  • I hate some the rnb today, everyting in a song today is about sex and not love too many commercial clowns out here today think they real r n b, I believe chris brown led to the killing of real rnb!

  • I would say that chris was good meaning cause his age and his dancing but your right about the sex part cause they don't really want to admit the love for a women sorta like rappers do,and we both know there is hardly a different between rap and r&b

  • Chris Brown actually has some pretty good cuts, & his music is not usually overly saturated w/mind numbing sexual references. There's nothing wrong w/singing about the act sometimes but keep it tasteful & imaginative. The music of Al's era made you groove & appreciate relationships, their music hit on all angles of love <3

  • @keevi84 i understand what your saying but the problem with music today is its following the trend of sex and some of the music I hear from people like tray songz and jeremih has nothing to do with relationships or love for that matter just SEX they don't talk about making love like johnny gil just fuckin like a 2 live crew album thats what rnb has been reduced to a CANED message of SEX and dancing in the club

  • Yes I agree FULLY but CB should not be mentioned as being the start of the death of r & b. His music is not in the same category that I agree w/you on (for the most part)

  • @jjtiojohn12 well i dont really mind jeremih song.. But i do like how the video wasn't trashy though. Birthday Sex video was actually mature compared to alot of other videos today

  • 2:28 - 2:54 is my fav part. love this song

  • My neck is hurting from doing the smurf to this MUG.... How Cedrick the Entertainer say.. "This my Jam"........ Cheezin! What, What yall know bout being a teenager when this came out??? Shyyyyt I wore some shoes out to this.... lol

  • @twinkeez2003 (lol) soul train line joining u smurfin & cabbage patchin then stops cuz I caught a cramp

  • @twinkeez2003

    don't hurt em now

  • lol! @ tommychevybugle. its so funny when you find out how far off you are.

  • One of tha BEST sonqs ever madee ! [;

  • yo this was tha shit back then , this came out somewere around 1988 but that was the original 1 i like this 1 better cuz the way they mixed it shit iz bangin

  • I thought the hook was

"you betta get one of your home girls"

  • LMAO @tommy... secretly i think everybody thought that

  • Back in 1988 this song was the bomb!!! Al B. Sure was fine as hell and i had a crush on him and i was 21 years old.

He wasnt the best singer but i didnt care anyway he sound much better than many of these so called singers today. I miss those days of real music.

  • my dyke lover

  • My bff in middle school had all his posters and I would go to her house just to stare at him.

  • No, no , no whatever! Kyle West break it down like this! Memories!

  • Memories

  • was at a club last night and deejay threw this track on. I WENT CRAZY! brought me back to those dope ass garage house parties.

  • I like how he says WHATEVER @ 4:30 lol

  • I used to lisen to this every night while I wiz supposed to b sleeping cuz my mom wuz a "church goer" n this music wuz of the devil. Lol

  • My parents are holy rollers too. Maybe that's why I had to hide all my "secular" music.

  • Lmao, that is the funniest thing I read on youtube. :)

  • shave ur eyebrow O_O lmao

  • okay mix.

  • coming together like an eyebrow on al b sure lol that line by eminem is a classic no offense tho al b is the real deal just a funny

    "connection"

  • AL B IS THE MAN!

  • There is only one Al B Sure - smooth new jack swing song.

  • DerekDoesDisco: Is this version on vinyl or on a maxi single?
