yo im new to locking, just askin but do you have a tutorial on wrist rolls and i dont know what its called but its when you shoot your arms in different place?
@aznpoobear I'm also new to locking, but I think it's called "Uncle Sam Points" (or at least it used to be called that way, check this out /watch?v=U6TegTeV8kg R.I.P Skeeter !)
bro, Awesome concepts. getting the basics and different combos and new knowledge down, and putting all together, is so simple that we forget to just have fun and let it come out of us as we enjoy the "dance". Don't get lost in your moves is something people need to remember always, and to let it flow naturally and have fun.
If anyone wants to really learn about groove, come take a trip to my city Toronto, Canada. Home to one of the biggest choreographers right now such as Luther Brown (although he now lives in L.A.), Lenny Len, Leon Blackwood, Mark Samuels, and the list goess on. Talent that's underrated for sure.
The choreography here is not so much about how the moves look, but how they FEEL.
Nice...true say. The trend of dance nowadays seems to be the ones that are more "aesthetically pleasing", such as the dubstep generation. Not saying I hate it, I think it's dope, but it has come to a point where I ask...WHERE'S THE SOUL??? Where's the dance? Where's the groove?
thanks shawn my biggest problem is flowing my shit together, as im a new dancer.. i got my basics n shit down n its pretty clean im just still trying to incorporate my groove into my body, this helped a little. i would say it helped more but its groove ya know lol.. i think everyone has to find their own way of feelin it.
niice work man , i'm working on locking, because i'm actually a cwalk'er but while your cwalk'ing if you know what dance that is , your upper body doesn't move at all, so i'm trying to mix styles here ;D watch me on 'Sekzyboy - MonkeyMe Cwalk' if you want to see my kind of dance.. This is just a friends account
I think you should never think of it as adding a dance to your locking. Locking is dancing. Never separate. When youre grooving it shouldnt be because "oh I have to bounce, groove then do locking steps in between because thats what they say is real locking." Grooving should be absolutely natural when you feel the music. If youre doing locking moves to music and you dont have the groove, youre not locking. Youre just doing locking steps but youre not locking. Without the dance its not locking
@afrotrigger Yes I absolutely agree. Was just emphasising how Its not locking without the "groove/dance". Without it it would just be locking steps not locking :)
@iangandaaa , actually you can add locking and popping to your dance......dancing is an art..as long you feel the music, you're dancing. I dun understand why Hilty and Bosch and most of the bboys don't want to learn other dance styles.
I can not tell you how much I appreciate all your tutorial videos. I truly learned alot from them, and it plain out man THANK YOU. I dont have any workshops, studios, or classes around, and I am just glad that you took the time to make these vids.
@AZN411 same here man im in a shit hole of a tiny ass town in indiana.. no dance studios or even other dancers.. im all alone out here. shawns vids do help
as i was watching this, i thought of a video of a workshop that mr wiggles was teaching. he was saying that your "funk organs" (that's what i remember him saying haha) are your shoulders, back, hips, and knees. just thought the connection was kinda cool lol
HEY i got a challenge for you shawn. kk first do a locking only freestyle to around the world. then do yourstyle of dancing w/o locking of around the world then combine it =o
you talk too much
