Their music really is like explosions in the sky. They remind me of fireworks, but really ambiguous with no lyrics so it's like you can put your own story in the blank.
@PSPgamer27 wtf? Really? U must be lazy then, shit load of under ground music in California, u just gotta look in the right places, for example in Riverside (where I live) theres a bunch of great ska, punk, alternative bands and btw Riverside is blowing up with good music, I wouldn't be surprised to sine big bands in the future from Riverside
Just another reason it sucks to live in California where we don't have good music like this and the people suck!! YAY!!!.... Please don't move to California.....
so much emotion everywhere... from munaf head banging, michael looking like hes going to burst into tears or mark just feeling the rythm (didnt mean to leave chris out just cant see him :P) this makes me so mad i missed out on one of their performances. whenever they are close again ill do what i need to to see them
i love eits, but has anyone else noticed how all their songs kinda sound similar? not that it's a bad thing, they just definitely have a sound that they stick to.
@BrunoSwavaholi Eh, I like to think albums are more about telling a story so all the songs flow together and sound similar rather than something composed of single random songs thrown together to make an "album". Personally I don't find all of their work to be that similar outside of each individual album, but they all have that EITS feeling to it.
@MrBenGarcia Then check out City of Caterpillar, Envy, Portraits of Past, etc. A lot of screamo, well, "real" screamo, has those post rock elements. PRetty amazing and moving stuff
This music is pretty much one of the best musics ever made by any band. This video would be extra awesome if the suond quality wasn't shitty beyond belief.
shitty beyond belief???? get the fvck outta here studio fvck....the guy who filmed this had a CAMCORDER not a damn studio with 200 chan mixboard isolation booths and mastering workstations
everything is actually bigger in alaska, except for buildings and population, but life is so much more epic in alaska because of the mountains..........
That's how it works. They use lots of ambience to blend to the next songs. But if you have a keen ear, you can quickly pick out which one is coming next.
Their performance of "Memorial" is unprecedented.
Thanks so much for preserving this moment for me. I was there...and it was one of the best performances I've ever seen....and I've seen quite a bit. This means a lot. Good work.
hahah yeah, i think they just dont know the song and dont realize the best part has yet to come. i totally agree. when i see them in july in chicago i hope no one does that.
I like it when the song gets all chaotic, but keeps the intensity of the softer parts. Thats what makes many post rock songs stand out.
And if you think that "blasts" your ears..lol, dude I also listen to screamo, metal, detal metal, and various other harder genres..those blast your ears.
haha, sorry i must really be missing something with mogwai. ive heard all of their albums and the only track that compares to the best explosions tracks is "ithica 27 0 9". feel free to suggest any im missing.
yeah that is the absolute ONLY thing that bothers me about their shows is the dumb audience, unless it's one of their concerts, where they are the main band.
and to hopefully clear some confusion, yes there is bass in explosions, but not in this song. Michael (middle) is the only one that plays bass, he just doesn't on this song. in the beginning, Munaf (far right) hits one of his pickups on his guitar for the sound. he does it in a couple of songs.
i agree...its like the fans dont even understand them...the audience did it twice...its annoying especially for me (Classical guitar...i take pauses sometimes and everyone claps I'm not even close to finishing it!)
i also agree. and from their heads the fans i mean. they dont even bob their heads slightly if they cant get into this amazing song they aren't fans they suck
not too shabby at guitar though. it takes skills to write something like that off the top of your head. they don't even write the stuff down until they're ready to record. in the studio they improvise, but on stage they play their songs exactly as written.
I was there, too. I was right at the front and center. I was waiting all day at the main stage, then my buddy told me they were gonna get switched cause of Midlake so I hauled it to the other one and camped out my spot again. I feel really bad for anyone who went to see them cause of the horrible set time. It was my eighth time seeing them so I can't really complain. Great video.
i was there man, near the front on the right. WOW, that was my first time watching them live and they are now my favorite band. the climax of the only moment we were alone.. UNDESCRIBABLE!!!!!! sucks they only got to play 3 songs, i am definately going to see them this coming november. thanks for posting the great video!
