You guys are stupid!! Please tell me why factory's send there instruments?? You guys could not move a chair, from a wet paper bag! I am Daniel, and you guys are ate the least very unskilled!
@pianotransport No piano expert here, but English is NOT your skill! Your mistakes: "factories," their (not there), "the least" should be surrounded by commas, and the common typo "ate" instead of "at." Step it up , buddy.
@Yowzarrific Ah.. give him a break, he's here arguing about how to move a piano (if you know what I mean). I would also imagine upon speculation that being bad at English is probably something he prides himself on. And the "I am Daniel" thing.. that's.. that's just kinda creepy
good video, I work in San Francisco so we remove the sound board, music board and the keyboard cover. We also put on more straps and pads because 9 out of 10 pianos end up going up a flight of stairs. We also pad the outside of the piano board to protect finished wooden stairs and floors.
I'm a piano mover, what do all you other movers get paid? I'm getting 10 per hour plus some stupid "bonus". Piano moving companies don't like to tell what movers get paid, so I'm done asking them.
I was under the impression that you can't tip a grand on it's side like that? Whenever we've our grand in the past we always pull the legs and pedal assembly off like in the video (without tipping it over though) and then set it down on a dolly flat. We have a baby, full grand and upright that we moved to storage when we remodeled our sanctuary.
thats almost how I move pianos except, I put a wood block on the lower left corner so it squashes the block instead of the piano,& did you notice that you left out the part where after you set it down on the left corner in the middle of the grand board (or the lid will pop off) and you and stand the piano up on the grandboard then scoot it over being careful not to get the lid & hinges too close to the grandboard or it will pop the hinges loose
lol this is a common case of a reg movers thinking they are a piano mover. first of all you do not need to remove a lier unless it is a qween anne, as a matter of fact steinway recomends you tip on the lier of course with a pad to protect the finish.
@jkirby2222 Yeah, when we moved grands we never removed the petals unless it was the curved petals like the Queen Anne. However, we did have a few annoying piano technicians we worked for that insisted that we remove the petals. It's just not necessary most of the time. They're as strong, if not stronger than a leg and it's safer and easier to put on end.
@smzig People always say that but it makes you look dumb as fuck if you can't spell even a simple word such as god damn PEDAL. Wow dude just wow you do not have to be on a college intellectual level to spell fucking PEDAL. Grow up and take some responsibility for your 2nd grade spelling capabilities.
@orangeblueandlavenda Don't think you necessarily have to. Maybe for long distance, but if it's just a quick move then it's probably not necessary. I've moved pianos for 5 years and none of the technicians said anything when we'd transport pianos for them.
Awesome job guys... there's always going be someone jealous....for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself........and that was better than I could ever do.
My crew could have this knocked down and gone in 5 minutes. The tape is really amateur. I have been moving piano's in the Bay Area for 15 years. Just recently I've found a tool that is unbelievable! Its a cradle like horse that you can break down a C7 with two men with breeze. No stress on the lyre at all. It will cost you a bit but will save your back and 1 man on the job. Reply back if your interested.
This is kind of sad. Considering that I have moved a grand "not a baby" by myself and I move usually 4 of these a day. Put a pad under the liar. Use a couple of blocks. Then you do not need 3 to 4 guys to do it. Then again this is why people call folks like me who only move Pianos..
@wheelchock41 why dont you make a video and show us all how it's done? and do it by yourself. i would love to learn.if in fact your a pro, that's great just dont be a ass about it. teach somebody.i for one have 15 years exp in the moving business but in residential/commercial and never actually seen a pro piano mover before so once again make a video
@wheelchock41 cool,im looking forward to seeing you in action, and possibly learning something...always room for improvement. good luck with the video.
@bucktheusa furniture jacks usually cost more than a company is willing to spend for the simple fact there is a guy that can hold it for 30 seconds it takes. and those legs are made to hold that weight thats why the have that thickness and wing spand at the top of the legs and fastened with thick bolts. the only thing i didnt like is the way they tied it down by putting the 2nd strap threw the first one they tied in the loosened it but over all a fine job. it's not rocket science
nice vid. I'd remove the lid first to avoid any incident with the hinges on it's side. Doesn't add much time to the procedure.

this didn't take ONE MINUTE, but that was pretty effective anyway :)
why not? well, edited video and sped up :o
But seriously, still pretty effective stuff!

@TheMetalViking666
The title was refering to the length of the video. Not the actual process of moving the piano, obviously.

@DJracerTT03 If you don't tip a grand on its side, its not going to fit through doors. Your information is incorrect.
MAGURK 1 year ago
@MAGURK You do have a valid point...I never thought of that. When we moved ours, we had the luxury of double doors.

Hey, I also want to comment on smzig's poor retarded spelling!
A professional piano mover that can't spell pedal, is akin to a gardener that can't spell "lawn"

xxdjcharlierockxx 2 years ago
Very clever, however some furniture jacks are better than a guy holding it up with sweaty hands while the guy underneath hurry's with a ratchet.
Another thing that bothers me is when it goes down on it's side it puts tension on the remaining legs at the wrong angle 0:30.
This can cause the fastener to pull out and enlarge the whole it was in requiring a repair.
I'm not a piano builder so I can't say the best side to support the weight on when it's moved.
...but nice clean, and efficient job!
