I really like this player but I don't think its interface is as good as my iPod Touches, that is where the iPod's shine and the Cowon's are a bit of a let down.
The problem with the ipod is you need to run itumes. Thats what makes the D2 so awesome its drag and drop. I will never buy an ipod product due to the fact that you need to run itunes.

Man, Cowon D2 is a piece of shit IMO. I should have just gotten an iPod or iriver. The thing has broken twice in a 3 months. First the touch screen was doing crazy things so I sent it back, and when they returned it, 3 weeks later the power button broke. And I'm careful with my stuff. It's being repaired now and I hope this is the last of my problems....maybe I just got a bad one though but I wouldn't buy it again.
I am living in South Korea at the moment, so I just sent it back to the store where I bought it and had it back in a week. Cowon's service is actually very good. The address on my box is: COWON TOWER, 689-3, Yeoksam-Dong, Gangnam-Gu, Seoul, 135-080, South Korea. (Maybe there is a service center where you live though)

The D2 has more features and better soundquality (although that's only noticable with very expensive headphones) but the clix looks better and has less firmware problems. They're both great players...
Sound quality wise IMO the 7 sound somewhat better, although the difference is very small so it's only noticeable if you have 500 dollar headphones. If you don't have such an expensive headphone, you won't notice any difference.
Let's compare what iaudio can do what ipod can't, shall we? ;) Also why would you want wifi on a mp3? I'm in for audio and iaudio is the best of the best, not to mention PMPs aswell.

this is world first touch screen mp3. but not as good as itouch. but even way much better that ipod and any other mp3 playes in the world. it has hundreds of functions with flash player which are calander, stopwatch, game, map... also you can watch free tv which is DMB, in korea. Its still beating ipod 3rd one even D2 came out in 2006. isn't that amazing?

the thing is that although i know the cowon has these, i dont really need tv out and great video support. My only qualm with the cowon is that it is seriously ugly and thick; and the 4gb costs the same as the 16gb creative... i wish they would make a revised one that is thinner; then i would buy it..
If you want looks and cheap price, go with Creative, that's not something most Cowon players target. People who buy this player usually want the great battery life (more than double that of the Zen) and basically unmatched feature set, they don't want compromises to keep it cheap and thin. When it comes down to it, the D2 is superior in almost every way, much better sound quality and output, better screen, better build quality, more features, SD Slot integration.

The TV features uses DMB, which isn't even available in the US, so of course it wasn't included. Dictionary devices seems to be a big thing in some Asian countries, while they're not in the US, so I understand that also, but any US user can just use a 3.xx version firmware and have the dictionary.

No 32gig SDHC cards in the mainstream yet, just 16gigs. Tho 32 will be available & affordable by the summer of '08 tho... 16gigs for $99 isn't a bad deal for the moment neither :D
Yeah, I didn't realize that at time of posting-- I think it was Sony or Toshiba that's making the 32gb SDHC and 8gb mSDHC cards. I read they would be available the 1st of January a few days ago, perhaps I was misinformed. Oh, and the 16gb cards are already to 90 bucks!
Accept the ipod touch has 1/3 of the screen resolution of the Cowon D2W and wont play 90% of the video files available on the web. So you have to not only transode all the files to mp4 but downgrade the resolution or it wont play on the ipod touch. Also D2W has a 60-80GB HDD not the retarded 8GB ssd restriction on the ipod touch.

For me the issue is whether or not you like touch screens. I find many people to feel quite differently on this subject. I am a big fan of the D*click system, but if I liked touch screens I might get this. I do love playing flash games on the clix. The battery life and SD card are the big draws here. :)

On specs and features, the D2 beats it hands down. The D2 has better battery life, better screen, more audio formats, line-i, TV out, and the SD slot, while you're stuck with what you have as far as internal memory on the clix2, the D2 has expandability. The D2 now has Flash Lite supports like the clix2, so there are your games, and the touchscreen actually offers you more flexibility
But some games require tactile buttons, and because the iriver clix allows Flash content to be used as themes, unlimited possibilities can be created. And the D2, of course, is the top of its craft. No one's even paying attention to the top-notch battery life, but ever since the majority of MP3-player buyers are the mainstream consumers, the "sexiness" is considered. I myself acknowledge the iriver X20 to be an equivalent to the D2 is some other ways.
I can tell you that images take quite a time to load in the Cowon D2. Like digital cameras, they appear pixelated for half a second. And the text is sometimes hard to look. In my opinion, touchscreens isn't really so great as many expect. Let's say you're on the bus or in class. You don't want to show your player, but handle it while it's in your pocket.

I have been using the A2-player for some time now, and it is the best gadget I have ever bought, so I am really looking forward do Iaudios next release:) Q5 should be released around june in the states, I think. 5" touchscreen with wifi, internet-browsing capabilities and intergrated GPS... It does not support any but it's own file formats.
I've not massively tested Jetaudio as a tool but it is at least quick. I've converted no files over 30mins in length, but it can batch convert and, as I said, is very quick (amd4200) even at the highest quality: an amazing player.
I have the D2 and it's a really great player. The sound quality is amazing and it has enough juice to use it even with headphones that are not easily driven and still be able to play your music really loud.
PLEASE answer this simple question that I can't find a difinitve answer to anywhere: Does the D2 have DIVX/XVID support, or must these file be converted with jetaudio first. If files must be converted, is this a lengthy process? For a standard 700MB movie, does this take 5min, or an hour?

You can record anything.

No 32gig SDHC cards in the mainstream yet, just 16gigs. Tho 32 will be available & affordable by the summer of '08 tho... 16gigs for $99 isn't a bad deal for the moment neither :D

Yeah, I didn't realize that at time of posting-- I think it was Sony or Toshiba that's making the 32gb SDHC and 8gb mSDHC cards. I read they would be available the 1st of January a few days ago, perhaps I was misinformed. Oh, and the 16gb cards are already to 90 bucks!

Accept the ipod touch has 1/3 of the screen resolution of the Cowon D2W and wont play 90% of the video files available on the web. So you have to not only transode all the files to mp4 but downgrade the resolution or it wont play on the ipod touch. Also D2W has a 60-80GB HDD not the retarded 8GB ssd restriction on the ipod touch.

Very nice review, my dad bought one and is very pleased, although the firmware updates do come out all the time.

For me the issue is whether or not you like touch screens. I find many people to feel quite differently on this subject. I am a big fan of the D*click system, but if I liked touch screens I might get this. I do love playing flash games on the clix. The battery life and SD card are the big draws here. :)

XD What if someone doesn't need to watch his YouTube-quality videos on TV, has his own battery adapter, constantly refreshes his music/video collection, and can live without leaving fingerprints and blemishes from touching the screen? In fact, iPhone users might suffer, especially when they want to have blind control over it (etc. switching to another song without looking at the device, like when it's in the user's pocket)?

Yes yes yes... 52 hours of music and 10 hours of video... touchscreen... but these great innovations are over-shadowed by the iriver clix (2G)'s D*Click system, Flash games, and so slim!! And very customizable! And it's much faster loading pics and all that. If some company can combine these products together, it'd be the perfect iPod-killer.

On specs and features, the D2 beats it hands down. The D2 has better battery life, better screen, more audio formats, line-i, TV out, and the SD slot, while you're stuck with what you have as far as internal memory on the clix2, the D2 has expandability. The D2 now has Flash Lite supports like the clix2, so there are your games, and the touchscreen actually offers you more flexibility

But some games require tactile buttons, and because the iriver clix allows Flash content to be used as themes, unlimited possibilities can be created. And the D2, of course, is the top of its craft. No one's even paying attention to the top-notch battery life, but ever since the majority of MP3-player buyers are the mainstream consumers, the "sexiness" is considered. I myself acknowledge the iriver X20 to be an equivalent to the D2 is some other ways.

I can tell you that images take quite a time to load in the Cowon D2. Like digital cameras, they appear pixelated for half a second. And the text is sometimes hard to look. In my opinion, touchscreens isn't really so great as many expect. Let's say you're on the bus or in class. You don't want to show your player, but handle it while it's in your pocket.

True it is a nice player, but I am waiting for the Q5! I have been using the A2-player for some time now, and it is the best gadget I have ever bought, so I am really looking forward do Iaudios next release:) Q5 should be released around june in the states, I think. 5" touchscreen with wifi, internet-browsing capabilities and intergrated GPS... Yummie...

It does not support any but it's own file formats.
I've not massively tested Jetaudio as a tool but it is at least quick. I've converted no files over 30mins in length, but it can batch convert and, as I said, is very quick (amd4200) even at the highest quality: an amazing player.

I have the D2 and it's a really great player. The sound quality is amazing and it has enough juice to use it even with headphones that are not easily driven and still be able to play your music really loud.

PLEASE answer this simple question that I can't find a difinitve answer to anywhere: Does the D2 have DIVX/XVID support, or must these file be converted with jetaudio first. If files must be converted, is this a lengthy process? For a standard 700MB movie, does this take 5min, or an hour?

Oh my... you got the iAudio 6? Methinks it was the last microdrive player alive - yes, micro hard drive! Cowon has mostly moved on to true PMPs - from that 2.5-inch D2 (smaller than a iPod) to the 7-inch N2.
