  • Aaand now I know how to sounds like Dave Gilmour! Brilliant, sir.

  • the first time I saw this video(years ago) I didnt know anything about studying music and guitar . so after that I decided to buy a guitar to do exactly the same I saw in this video (jam) . I mean this video inspired me to learn music , and now Im a huge fanatic of jazz improvisation, I discovered that this is my pasion. regards man.

  • cool man thats a great demonstration of dorian sounds awesome :)

  • Shine on you crazy diamond!

  • Shine on you crazy diamond!

  • At 0:08 he looks us right in the eye in that "Yeah, I know I'm awesome" way.

  • Cross between Floyd and John Mclaughlin

  • Sweet shit

  • nice example. this mode sounds like a fav of david gilmour

  • lovely

  • 0:48 ... so David Gilmour!

in a good way though :)

  • yhea its the santana scale but this is also used by artist such as metallica!

  • yo g1asseye.. you arn't the only one with that problem... I always end up getting lost.. and forgetting my original phraze.. haha.. eh.. it's a neverending process of learning I guess...

Good job to the dude who posted the vid.. really good stuff..

  • hahaaa, santana scale. nice. sounds like a G dorian to me

  • No, Santana scale for sure.

  • pink floyd dude

  • sounds like zappa scale lol

  • Lovely solo dude.

I love the way you come back to the same phrases over and over. When I improvise I always end up trying to solo with a beginning middle and end and not doing this when its actually so effective. I think i'll try it in the future :)

  • Thanks

  • lol

  • The sound of the guitar reminds me of Gilmour

  • hes a really good delay on

  • Great sound ! What gear do you use? Amp, effect ? Thanks

  • Thanks. For this piece, I used my customized '89 Stratocaster which is equipped with DiMarzio Virtual Vintage pickups in the neck and middle and a DiMarzio Virtual Vintage Blues pickup in the bridge. This was played through a Boss GT-6 effects processor with my own custom settings. If I can remember right, compression, delay and overdrive. The GT-6 was plugged into the front end of a Fender Twin amp on the clean channel.

  • wow..

  • A man of few words, but your playing speaks volumes.

Just what I wanted to hear, not a bunch of talk.

  • Thanks!

  • ace

  • awesome

    love dorian

  • Awesome playing, you'd be awesome in a Pink Floyd cover band. Alot better then others I have seen.

  • Thank you!

  • where did you learn to play i dont understand. i cant find anything that tells me about guitar theory good enough that i can understand it.

  • Hey, check out a channel called "Riff of the Week" with Dave Weiner. His lessons are easy to understand and have tabs. Check out his lessons on modes. He has hundreds of lessons.

  • look for a general understanding of music theory, modes are simply scales the G Dorian scale is build from the second note of the F major scale it uses all the same notes but it's root note is G instead of F, when played over a F major chord it sounds off but will work or over a Gm

  • Well played. Very soulful, im in tears.

  • Fender rocks!

  • Nice pick holder. xD

  • love the pickups bro, makes sort of a gilmour's sound

  • Nice playing. I'm also digging your tone quite a bit. I hope to have command over music like you one day lol.

  • Thanks. The guitar was a bit out of tune for that but it worked I guess. As far as the tone, that's my 1989 Stratocaster. I loaded it with DiMarzio Virtual Vintage and Virtual Vintage Blues pickups. I was using the neck pickup (Virtual Vintage) with the volume rolled back to 3 and the tone rolled back to 4 to give me that "punch." I ran through a bit of compression and then through a Fender Twin amp.

  • I really like how you use modes! You play so that it doesn't sound like a mode, but it's sounds different than the plain major scale. If you have any tips on modal use, please send me a message! Great job!

  • Very David Gilmour, is Gilmour a Dorian mode user, is that part of his sound?

  • I have heard Gilmour using Dorian and lydian at times.

  • Nice man. Nicer than allot on youtube. More melody and feeling instead of wanking. Do you like satch by the way?

  • Thanks. Yes I am a Satriani fan!

  • whoot!whoot!Satriani fans unite!!!.....that was cheesy of me btw nice playing bro!

  • damn great job

  • Thanks!
