the first time I saw this video(years ago) I didnt know anything about studying music and guitar . so after that I decided to buy a guitar to do exactly the same I saw in this video (jam) . I mean this video inspired me to learn music , and now Im a huge fanatic of jazz improvisation, I discovered that this is my pasion. regards man.
yo g1asseye.. you arn't the only one with that problem... I always end up getting lost.. and forgetting my original phraze.. haha.. eh.. it's a neverending process of learning I guess...
Good job to the dude who posted the vid.. really good stuff..
I love the way you come back to the same phrases over and over. When I improvise I always end up trying to solo with a beginning middle and end and not doing this when its actually so effective. I think i'll try it in the future :)
Thanks. For this piece, I used my customized '89 Stratocaster which is equipped with DiMarzio Virtual Vintage pickups in the neck and middle and a DiMarzio Virtual Vintage Blues pickup in the bridge. This was played through a Boss GT-6 effects processor with my own custom settings. If I can remember right, compression, delay and overdrive. The GT-6 was plugged into the front end of a Fender Twin amp on the clean channel.
Hey, check out a channel called "Riff of the Week" with Dave Weiner. His lessons are easy to understand and have tabs. Check out his lessons on modes. He has hundreds of lessons.
look for a general understanding of music theory, modes are simply scales the G Dorian scale is build from the second note of the F major scale it uses all the same notes but it's root note is G instead of F, when played over a F major chord it sounds off but will work or over a Gm
Thanks. The guitar was a bit out of tune for that but it worked I guess. As far as the tone, that's my 1989 Stratocaster. I loaded it with DiMarzio Virtual Vintage and Virtual Vintage Blues pickups. I was using the neck pickup (Virtual Vintage) with the volume rolled back to 3 and the tone rolled back to 4 to give me that "punch." I ran through a bit of compression and then through a Fender Twin amp.
I really like how you use modes! You play so that it doesn't sound like a mode, but it's sounds different than the plain major scale. If you have any tips on modal use, please send me a message! Great job!
Aaand now I know how to sounds like Dave Gilmour! Brilliant, sir.

Very David Gilmour, is Gilmour a Dorian mode user, is that part of his sound?
