This is what S. D. Burman wrote about this song in his autobiography, "“In another Navketan production ‘Kala Pani’, as the music director, in one of the songs I used the rhythm of Ghazal in the Mukhda and Geet in the Antara. The first line was, ‘Hum bekhudi mein tum ko pukare chale gaye’. I used Mohd Rafi for this song. Rafi sang it extremely well, with the tone up to my satisfaction.”
(Source: ‘Saragmer Nikhad’an autobiography by Sachinda)
this song is beyond music its pure love of musiciens towards music the love like rafi did the love like sd did to it. its not music its love and love only. only understanding of music cannot creat such a magic you need purest love to the surs and the richest spontanity. i am wordless.
Rafi's talent can be known just from listening from the beginning to the first time he says "Chale gaye" .....try it and one would know how difficult it is to produce just that simple sound...
this song takes u into the oblivion what a beauty having heard the original bengali version sung by s d burman the song looks even more magical both versions r masterpieces viola
This is Fantastic just as a song composition. But when you add the picturization, it turns out to become a legend which transcends beyond Devanand to the director & cenematographer who put the picture on top of this masterpeice composition.
The more i hear this depth of melodious release i mourn the great loss of the golden voice of Rafi saheb well picturised by Dev saheb. A perfect matching tribute to the excellance.
This voice is so addictive. You hear it once and you are drunk for life. Alcohol, Cocaine, Cannabis and the rest of them will not have a similar impact on you.
just to share this information.... Naushad saab has used only 5 instruments in this beautiful song. saarangi, tabla gungroo, khadtal, harmonium..... this song is also wonderful without music too.
outstanding mind blowing .... rafi saab is god of singers ... truely impeccable ... wot a singer mannnn !!!! just listen to those minute harkats ... spectacular ..
One of the greatest music director of all time SD Burman composed the song for the greatest Rafi saab. People generally think Kishore Kumar was the voice of Dev Anand, which is completely wrong. It was Mohd Rafi with whom SD Burman composed most of the ever green hits for Dev. I think it was SD who gave Rafi's enigmatic voice a complete new edge.
One of Rafi's best numbers, adapted by Sachinda from his own rendition of a Bengali song. While other music directors were composing songs wherein Rafi had to go to higher octave, like "O duniya ke rakhwale", "Ai mohabbat zindabad" "O door ke musafir" etc., Sachinda made him sing rather soulful renderings without higher notes or sobbing effect in songs like 'Hum bekhudi mein' ('Kala Pani'), 'Din dhal jaaye'and 'Tere mere sapne' ('Guide'), 'Saathi na koi manzil' ('Bombai ka Babu') etc.!
no doubt this is one of the best number of Rafi ..
I personally like his romantic numbers alittle more he simply put the sould into it .. but I would say a big credti goes to the golden era Music director who fully utilize his capasity .. I don't what would he do if he would have to sing these days ;)
thanks 4 posting this song.note the background music absulutely brilliant.try to sing this song sounds so easy but a true master like rafi can only sing this song so beutifully.
