I hear ya... but do you know how many Christians are being deceived by this Zeitgeist nonsense? All of that could have been avoided if we didn't compromise by injecting our man-made solution into the mix. ( ie. No worries... we'll just change the meaning of this pagan thing to a christian thing...) now 2000 years later it's tripping people up like never before... and thus begins the great apostasy. IMO ;)

The idea of picking a date for Christ's birthday was to prevent pagans from clebrating their old customs on this day.

It was quite common for people to stick to both pagan and christian traditions, this was forcing a choice.

And for example christmas tree used to be pagan custom, however christians addopted it and changed its meaning, thus it no longer is pagan custom.
