Hi, I like to go fishing for Catfish but I never been at Snake River, would you please give me more detail of the location. I plan to go this Holiday. I'm in Olympia, Wa
the part of the snake in clarkston by the onion and that motel 6 is by far one of the best channel catfishing spots on the whole snake river. i landed 7 channels on chicken gizzards, 2 of which were over 30 inches. but i do like the basecamps for when we fish steelhead, and a brass spoon in the snake is lights out.
Washington + Idaho +Oregon fish and game released like 2.5 million channel cat fingerlings near the hells gate dam about 7 years ago.. There are nice channel cats all up and down that thing. Worms work great, Squaw or Pea fish / Sucker fish are your best cut bait. They are good and oily.. Its technically illegal in Washington to use cutbait though.. so be smart.
kdkjrf - we were using cut bait. From some bluegill that we caught out of our pond, actually. We were way down towards Weiser, ID - but from what I hear, the catfish are really starting to heat up now along the entire river. I've always been partial to cutbait, but worms are usually a good bet, too!
Good times! Nice fish!
