escorts dont have vtec. they have a 16 valve DOHC 2.0L Zetec engine unless he did a swap but even then i never heard of an escort with a vtec and whoever owns that escort needs to launch at 3000 rpms cause thats what i launch my escort at and it doesnt drop the rpms at the launch.
No one said anything about the ZX2 having vtec... Also I dont think anyone is gonna launch better than he does with his ZX2, he is one of the best launching fwd cars on street tires i have ever seen. It's not that fast at topend though.
lol to be honest i launch better than that. the vid i have on here is when i first started racing. i would launch at 2500 rpms and you could see and hear the rpms drop but now, a year later, i launch at 3000 rpms and i have a decent amount of mods done to it. if he hasnt done his transmission yet tell him to get a MFactory LSD, Centerforce clutch, and a Fidanza flywheel and itll help him launch even better cause the stock zx2 transmission is shitty and weak. ill post another vid sometime soon
@fwdGTP the reason they arent that fast on the top end is because of the baffle box in the original air intake system up by the throttle body. thats the first thing me and my buddy did to his, we just took that piece out and customized an old CAI piece in the shop, and it brought it to life on the big end. we've got a few more mods done to it now though, you can check out the 20 to 90 pull we did in it if you copy and paste this in the search bar, PublicEnemyZX2, its pretty impressive.
In the zx2 the Ztech engine was call the VCT engine for its constantly Variable Cam Timing, a little more advanced than a 2 stage v-tech timing system. And in both cases, it doesn't really matter. The focus ditch the VCT system, except on the SVT motor. The Focus Ztech has basically the same hp/tq but in different places.
