The environment has an impact on evolution. They were probably in an environment which didn't require them to evolve.

There are even different evolutionary steps for humans. Darker skin for example has a higher melonin content. The bodys natural protectant against the sun. Theres lots of sun around the African regions, and the people there evolved to the conditions.

i do understand in evolution i just dont believe in us being part of the ape family. simply because i dont see or haven't heard of any other apes becoming more intellectual. i believe we are a separate set of species. ok i agree we are kinda similar in obvious ways but so are cats and dogs yet they are classed as different species.

I don't know much about evolution, but the environment is a factor ,sometimes ramdon mutation. They did evolved but in a different way .One good exemple of an animal evolving in my opinion is the Sea lion and penguins

Most of the extinction happened because of environmental disasters,the human race almost went extinct ,about 60.000 years ago.We're lucky to be here but i believe somewhere down the road we are going to join the other 99% of all other species the went extinct.
