  • ok,so the form should be better and perfect if your a fitness professional teaching others, rant over, I was in the gym today and as I didnt have a spotter thought id max out elsewhere, that was were the gym ball came in,people rule out pressups over bench presses etc, fact of the matter is more strength is too be gained from pressups which also work the core as well, even more so if ur on a ball,try it :)

  • instead of a fuckin' ball, you can use a chair..much safer...

  • @SOAD4me using the ball also workout some of those smaller muscles you'd might neglect during normal pushups, strengthening them and giving you a more stable balance (eventually)

  • @Zourzourzour quit hating, not all people are trying to be steroided out and hulked ight, im a personal trainer and this is great workout for obliques, back, triceps ,lats and chest along with minor workout to the bi's and tri's, it covers the basis of mobility and stability with some lower core excercises as well and if you didnt know... doing circuit workouts like this can bring a whole new realm to just working out on machines and that comfortable bench press i could pass out on... pff

    Chest/triceps. Do them with hands very wide apart and you can hit the lats too.

    I've done it. Years ago when I didn't have access to a pull up bar I would do push ups with my hands at a very wide angle. After a while I could see and feel the difference in the upper back, although it wasn't big one.

  • @Tazz77 lats are not based in the upper back, no matter what you do with a push up doesn't matter, you'll never hit lats, trust me lats are like completely different motion. You probably felt the reverse pectorals group, it is near the lats, but much much smaller.

    Eh...just crank out five sets of as many as you can and at the top of the movement contract your upper back. You'll feel it...I do anyway.

  • i know a better way to speed up your results by 2x, NEVER come up after the pushup, stay 90 degrees, and keep going down, 90 degrees and make 50 reps, i doubt most of u guys here cant, my max is 50 on fists.

  • I have been working out for awhile now but my pecs are not proportioned with the rest opf my body. Even though they are muscle, i dont like the way they stick out when i wear a shirt. How do i reduce muscle mass and make my chest more toned and smaller? I only wanna do pushups btw. Should i do pushups everyday, what kinds, and how many reps

  • go with light weight push ups and focus on shaping them. No heavy pushing. Decline bench press will shape your chest cup.

    If you're only going to do push ups, position your hands below your armpit and have a chair to put your feet on.

  • is it toned in the center but puffed up? I say you need to do bench pressing. It sounds like you just do regular push ups. If you don't want to do bench pressing..umm, put your arms farther apart. That's more for the exterior. Also try push ups across the solar plexus, and also try with a foot raised up...if that makes sense:P You need to work out different parts of your pecs. Also stretching helps to tone and elongate muscle so it doesn't look like you're a walking muscle twinkie:P

  • Try Jump Rope...Youll get Ripped regardless of how big your Muscles are plus Youll be better balanced have more Endurance, Be faster and feel alot better.
