  • What's the name of the first song ?

  • I have the old VoxAD50VT XL and I love it!!! Im not big on the metal tones it produces, but it does them well, its just not my style of playing. Great clean sound and overdrive on the buzz-saw setting. The best clean sound for me was to set it on funked, gain at 11 oclock(may need to set this higher or lower depending on you guitar pickups) volume maxed treble at 4 oclock med maxed bass almost maxed. Kinda like using an old marshall and just turning everything up and getting all tone from hands

  • Hi would you recommend the amp without the avatar cab? thanks!

  • That sounds nothing like a 4x10 tweed Bassman and totally like a poor digital attempt at it....which is what it is I suppose....

  • great playing

  • Sounds OK, but as always- nothing like a real tube amp.

  • @IHIKML

it depends on the tube amp...plus, this allowes you to have many sounds: of course you don't buy this amp if looking for the best and more personal sound ever; it's more for fun and it has a decent quality and a GREAT versatility.

  • Hey !

This Vox is enough for concerts(clubs) and band probes?

    Very nice playing!

  • how would you connect your vox to a cab?

    the output on the back?

    direct line out-->speakercable-->cab?

  • pretty niceee

  • Would Roland Cube 80X be a better choice than this amp?

  • i have this vox and it is AMAZING. I had a smaller version of the cube and i hated it, so i would go with the vox.

  • Anything can have enough power to play in concerts. Just mic it up to a PA system and there you go. Its loud enough for hundreds of people

  • Does it have enough power to play in little concerts? Now I have an AD15VT and I'm realy satisfied with the Vox AD series.

  • Kinda depends on how little. Little like 10 people yeah. Lol.

  • thats a mexican deluxe players strat right? great sounding piece of kit and looks beautiful. do you find the pickups sound true vintage style or do they compromise some of that for how quiet they are

  • It's the best hybrid amp. I have the same and i can freely say that is grate for live gigs, but it's not a tube amp. You can't feel that while your playing it, but try to plug your guitar into a all tube amp and you will see what is the difference. Anyway grate amp for cheap money, if you don't have enouh money for expensive amp, buy this one and take off some basses because you have them a loot.

  • Love those pickups ...no hum (o: and some excellent quack. Beautiful guitar playing as well.

  • I have the same amp and I was thinking of getting a Fender Hot Rod cab for it. Do you think it would sound much better?

  • the amp sounds a whole lot better with any extension but celestins sound great, I think the best (try greenbacks)

  • thanks

  • This amp definitely does blues/jazzy stuff really well... but I find it's absolutely awful for hard rock and metal. Want to get rid of mine and find something better, but I wouldn't know what to replace it with.

  • Keep it for blues/jazz, and get the xl version for metal/rock. ;-)

  • I guess getting some good distortion pedals would make it good for metal right? ...in that case it would save a lot of money :D

  • can someone tell me the benefits of 2 speakers instead of 1? sounds like a dumb question but i'm not really sure

  • depends on what your looking for..for instance 2 of the same speaker will move more air and allow higher volume...but your not doubling the volume by any means...

2 different speakers, but having similar db levels, will give you more sound characteristics....one for warmer sounds (g12h30) and one for more crunchy midrange stuff (vintage30)...so many things to consider

read the speaker section in "the guitar amp handbook", great detail, too much to list

  • man I love the riff at 1:14!!!!!

  • You're selling me more and more on Strats. I'm a Tele & Jazzmaster man myself, but my first guitar was a Strat. Great playing too, man!

  • i have the 1-12 50 and my other guitar player has the 2-12 50vt-mine is plenty loud and can be heard over and with his just fine

  • great tone man u always have a nice clean tone can u give me the settings plzz thanks Taylorgilmour

  • hey do you think it is worth getting th ad50vt 212 (its got 2 speakers)?

  • I think so. I have the 212 and it destroys my friends 112 volume wise :-)

  • nice playing :)

  • Hey there, fantastic playing

I was wondering what settings you used here on the EQ as my AD50VT had a Celestion Classic Lead 80 installed prior to my purchase of it.

Im trying to figure whether this has a detrimental effect on tone as the drive sounds are nowhere near as nice as on your other videos.

    Thanks :)

  • sorry, how much cost the vox amp valvetronix ad50vt????

  • about $380

  • I just got one for £80 from eBay UK. Retails at £270 :)

Seriously, look on eBay, you may get a good deal, its just pot luck

  • I got mine for 230€, sells new in Germny for 399 ... so it's an OK price ;)

    Great playing btw.

  • i have the AD30, love it, by the way, i think you should shave your head and get an earing u will look bad ass, kind of like satriani

  • @wc3415 why the hell would you try to look exactly like someone else...he has his own style

  • I'm having my nightly pint of Guiness, enjoying your work, and looking over fondly at my Valvetronix 100w with pride. I went from an Orange AD30tc to this, and I've never been happier. Nice job!

  • You actually went from an Orange AD30tc to this? Really? I mean, I'm not trying to rag on the Valvetronix or anything. The AD30 my uncle has is fantastic but I think I would much rather have an Orange.

  • man i played one of those oranges they sound like absolute shit, the clean is shithouse the drive is even worse. sometimes u dont get what you pay for hahaha

  • Was it a TUBE orange though? I highly doubt you've played an Orange tube amplifier and still prefer the AD series.

  • yeah man, it was a 30 watter combo.. sounded like absolute shit.. the gain was worse than a hot rod deluxe and the clean channel wasnt clean, atleast by my definition of clean?? but yeah i duno man i mean this amp hhas a tube in it so thats maybe why i liked it? but i didnt like the sound of the orange at all,

  • Comment removed

  • Actually, it's just the opposite. The way that Vox Valve Reactor Technology works is, unlike other hybrids, by using the valve in the power amp. The pre-amp is purely digital. (For details on how, check the manual on vox website)

Overall, I think it's the best hybrid amp I've played. The downside, though, is that it sounds unnatural when using the line-out for recording so you're better off placing a mic next to the speaker.

  • was it cranked?

im not takin a shot at you or anything, but unless the volume is like 0.5 lol an orange should sound pretty good..

  • How did you get that awesome clean sound? I have the amp for about 2 years, but I still don't know how to produce a normal clean sound

  • greattt!! =)

  • great playing. Do you recommend the amp?

  • Yes it is a great little amp. I have a lot of fun with it.

  • I just bought a VOX ad50vt 212; i love it, but the signal seems to cut out, fade (dramatic volume decreases), and simply fade into nothing. The power will be on, but the sound is gone. I've heard a few people say this about the 212 model, and I'm trying to see if it's worth getting an exchange or just getting a refund because I do love the way the amp sounds. I'm just wondering if you've heard of anything like this? If not, then thanks anyways!

  • Check the valvetronix forum - some people there have mentioned issues, and solutions, with their amps. I haven't had any trouble with mine though.

  • Maybe you could try checking the noise gate function. It could be on a bad setting. Read the manual anyway.

  • @anm712 I have the same amp, sounds to me you have the noise reduction set wrong. Check your manual for how to completely turn it off. I expect that would solve your problem.

  • @anm712 it may be two years. but i couldnt help but answer. mine was cutting off real bad. what i did was restore it to factory settings. fixed the minor sound issue.

  • Very good player!!!!, congratulations!

  • Absolutely no quack whatsoever ...viva la mexico

  • you've been playing for 27 years? You dont even look 27 lol.

  • Now that's a compliment!

  • you popin the strat man.

  • Hey What Have You The EQ Set To? And Are You Using Any Pedals?

  • No pedals, flat EQ - around 12 o'clock.

  • Great playing man! I dont know if you remember me but i had trouble keeping this guitar in tune. I went out and bought some sperzal tremlock tuners and intalled them myself. MAN O MAN she wont go out of tune for the world! and I had a saddle screw pull out? i know WTF gunuine fender saddles? i think not, i bought some string saver saddles i think it sounds great. check out my video, im not quite up to par with you but i would like some1 to comment! thanks keep posting

  • Great! Mine stays in tune well actually. I set it up myself and I use Nut Sauce.

  • ????????? guitar and violin's alot different, how long have you been playing ?

  • 27 years

  • ....); I feel bad for my self.

  • man i love that amp 2. I glad i picked it over the marshall

  • Great playing as always mate!

"I am running the amp through my Avatar 2x12 cabinet, loaded with Celestion Wizard speakers".

How is it just using it's own speaker?

I'm thinking about buying the 100 watt version,Two speakers I think...

    thanks..Z

  • It's fine, but it sounds better with a good external cab. See my website for older clips of the amp using no cab.

  • hi, rotren!

how you record sound ? plug your amp into a line in or voice is from camera, or other?

  • It's just via the mic on the Sony video camera.

  • Always look forward to your posts Robert.

Great job as always... No long sleeve shirt? ;)

  • I'm trying to show off my veins, once again.

  • could you by chance do a small demo on how to eq an amp well?

  • thanks for backing up on these videos.. those veins scare me...;)

Sounding great Robert.. bout time we see more of the AD50 from you..

  • Oh God. 1:35 was executed BEAUTIFULLY. Always a pleasure to hear you jam, rotren.

  • thanks maestro!

  • Great Maestro.thanks.

  • Great tone!!! That sounds great Bro!

  • yeah man great !!
