I have the old VoxAD50VT XL and I love it!!! Im not big on the metal tones it produces, but it does them well, its just not my style of playing. Great clean sound and overdrive on the buzz-saw setting. The best clean sound for me was to set it on funked, gain at 11 oclock(may need to set this higher or lower depending on you guitar pickups) volume maxed treble at 4 oclock med maxed bass almost maxed. Kinda like using an old marshall and just turning everything up and getting all tone from hands
it depends on the tube amp...plus, this allowes you to have many sounds: of course you don't buy this amp if looking for the best and more personal sound ever; it's more for fun and it has a decent quality and a GREAT versatility.
thats a mexican deluxe players strat right? great sounding piece of kit and looks beautiful. do you find the pickups sound true vintage style or do they compromise some of that for how quiet they are
It's the best hybrid amp. I have the same and i can freely say that is grate for live gigs, but it's not a tube amp. You can't feel that while your playing it, but try to plug your guitar into a all tube amp and you will see what is the difference. Anyway grate amp for cheap money, if you don't have enouh money for expensive amp, buy this one and take off some basses because you have them a loot.
This amp definitely does blues/jazzy stuff really well... but I find it's absolutely awful for hard rock and metal. Want to get rid of mine and find something better, but I wouldn't know what to replace it with.
depends on what your looking for..for instance 2 of the same speaker will move more air and allow higher volume...but your not doubling the volume by any means...
2 different speakers, but having similar db levels, will give you more sound characteristics....one for warmer sounds (g12h30) and one for more crunchy midrange stuff (vintage30)...so many things to consider
read the speaker section in "the guitar amp handbook", great detail, too much to list
I'm having my nightly pint of Guiness, enjoying your work, and looking over fondly at my Valvetronix 100w with pride. I went from an Orange AD30tc to this, and I've never been happier. Nice job!
You actually went from an Orange AD30tc to this? Really? I mean, I'm not trying to rag on the Valvetronix or anything. The AD30 my uncle has is fantastic but I think I would much rather have an Orange.
man i played one of those oranges they sound like absolute shit, the clean is shithouse the drive is even worse. sometimes u dont get what you pay for hahaha
yeah man, it was a 30 watter combo.. sounded like absolute shit.. the gain was worse than a hot rod deluxe and the clean channel wasnt clean, atleast by my definition of clean?? but yeah i duno man i mean this amp hhas a tube in it so thats maybe why i liked it? but i didnt like the sound of the orange at all,
Actually, it's just the opposite. The way that Vox Valve Reactor Technology works is, unlike other hybrids, by using the valve in the power amp. The pre-amp is purely digital. (For details on how, check the manual on vox website)
Overall, I think it's the best hybrid amp I've played. The downside, though, is that it sounds unnatural when using the line-out for recording so you're better off placing a mic next to the speaker.
I just bought a VOX ad50vt 212; i love it, but the signal seems to cut out, fade (dramatic volume decreases), and simply fade into nothing. The power will be on, but the sound is gone. I've heard a few people say this about the 212 model, and I'm trying to see if it's worth getting an exchange or just getting a refund because I do love the way the amp sounds. I'm just wondering if you've heard of anything like this? If not, then thanks anyways!
@anm712 I have the same amp, sounds to me you have the noise reduction set wrong. Check your manual for how to completely turn it off. I expect that would solve your problem.
@anm712 it may be two years. but i couldnt help but answer. mine was cutting off real bad. what i did was restore it to factory settings. fixed the minor sound issue.
Great playing man! I dont know if you remember me but i had trouble keeping this guitar in tune. I went out and bought some sperzal tremlock tuners and intalled them myself. MAN O MAN she wont go out of tune for the world! and I had a saddle screw pull out? i know WTF gunuine fender saddles? i think not, i bought some string saver saddles i think it sounds great. check out my video, im not quite up to par with you but i would like some1 to comment! thanks keep posting

Hi would you recommend the amp without the avatar cab? thanks!

That sounds nothing like a 4x10 tweed Bassman and totally like a poor digital attempt at it....which is what it is I suppose....

This Vox is enough for concerts(clubs) and band probes?
Very nice playing!

how would you connect your vox to a cab?
the output on the back?
direct line out-->speakercable-->cab?

Would Roland Cube 80X be a better choice than this amp?

i have this vox and it is AMAZING. I had a smaller version of the cube and i hated it, so i would go with the vox.

Anything can have enough power to play in concerts. Just mic it up to a PA system and there you go. Its loud enough for hundreds of people
flyers5342 2 years ago
Does it have enough power to play in little concerts? Now I have an AD15VT and I'm realy satisfied with the Vox AD series.

the amp sounds a whole lot better with any extension but celestins sound great, I think the best (try greenbacks)

Keep it for blues/jazz, and get the xl version for metal/rock. ;-)

I guess getting some good distortion pedals would make it good for metal right? ...in that case it would save a lot of money :D

Hey there, fantastic playing
I was wondering what settings you used here on the EQ as my AD50VT had a Celestion Classic Lead 80 installed prior to my purchase of it.
Im trying to figure whether this has a detrimental effect on tone as the drive sounds are nowhere near as nice as on your other videos.
Thanks :)

Check the valvetronix forum - some people there have mentioned issues, and solutions, with their amps. I haven't had any trouble with mine though.

Maybe you could try checking the noise gate function. It could be on a bad setting. Read the manual anyway.
