@kawaiigardiner it's because without tons of money you don't even get noticed by the media and to so many (esp. older) people, politics is just background noise & what they get on TV. My mother will vote for whoever my dad says he is and he listens to Rush Limbaugh and watches Fox news. It basically takes hands-on intervention to change this by helping them find alternative info. It is horrible, our media is a curse that spreads propaganda and slander to the ignorant making them more ignorant.
@TheMelianDialogue What I am confused about is why the batshit insane runners gain so much attention when Gary Johnson and Jon Huntsman would be a lot more viable at running against Obama in the election - are people that ignorant that they're swayed by the drivel that the candidates run in advertisements? gah, so frustrating that the most powerful country on earth has its leaders chosen by very common people.
@meleder Doubt it'll happen when one considers the following:
1) If it is 'dropped' then what will replace it? there is a void and right now Islam fills it - if you remove Islam you might something 20 times worse ends up replacing it.
2) The same expectation of Christianity dying was made in France during the age of Enlightenment - we all know what ended up as a result. The best one can expect is a moderation of Islam to the point it becomes like the Church of England - a harmless institution.
