I fully support Ron Paul. I'm very interested in his economic philosophy. There are many things I don't know about Austrian economics. One question I raise here is, what do we do about firemen and policemen if Ron Paul's ideas are applied to local governments? These two jobs are publicly funded aren't they? I'm looking for material to read to understand how these things operate.

Isn't it true that our state income tax gets put towards firemen and policemen?

These things are what you state and local taxes are suppost to fund. The majority of Federal Taxes go to pay the intrest our government owes to the Federal Reserve (A private Central Bank).

If police or firemen are needed then private institutions would fill the void. The only difference would be you would have to pay for the service after calling the police. (You pay already thorough taxes, but without government you are only paying when you USE the police or fire services.)

I spent 25 years as a professional firefighter in Rochester, NY.

Eastman Kodak had it's own, private fire dept... and they were excellent. Our EMS was run (for my first 10 years) by private companies - excellent. The fire service could be run by private enterprise, and by volunteers, of which there would be PLENTY.
