i love these games but i have no idea how to use tactics or what unit to use where or basically what the hell im supposed to be doing. i just kinda close my eyes and click on things and hope i win. :/

@9977phil Well here we have a number of basic musket-era tactics given. Like shift your main forces to directly face the enemy to maximise firepower, Light Infantry on your right & left flanks, Elite Infantry middle, and move calvalry around your forces to behind the enemy to flank them.

if i ever play as a team with towns/cities in 2 areas i always choose which one( with the countries i play its normalli america or europe) and i give away the ones in the area i didnt choose then conquer the one i did and send a large naval/land force to europe

cavalry is completely useless against the full line infantry. Even if you charge at the line infantry, they will lose maximum 25-40 soldiers and your cavalry will be crushed

tip: although setting up lines the same way as your enemy helps in power efficiency, it can be a good idea to set up some extra units in a weak point. Doing so may break stronger units as they see their patriots run in panic

good use of your infantry but you could of used your cavalry more effectively-buy engaging them in melee, then pushing them through the enemy squads ranks and out the other side. this is fantastic as a moral attack aswell and if done on an already demoralised enemy-will cause them to rout. great job tho

there is a far better strategy in the campaign: bajonettes. bajonettes pwn cause the other countries learn to use them after like 25 rounds. also ranked fire pwns hard

Your horse regiments are Gendarmerie units. Wich are a valueable aid in keeping order in your cities, not to carry a war to the enemies land. Nice vid though(Y)

mortars arent that effective.. they mostly never hit! they cant even move if necessary, howiters got less range, true.. but mobility, firepower and precision makes up for that little flaw.

Hi, sorry for the bad english but I'm Italian. With this pc you CAN run the game but you wouldn't enjoy it because of terrible lag also at low settings. First of all, add one more Gb to ram, 2 GB are the minimal. Empire total war is a game which use the cpu very much, and your pentium 4 cannot support such a heavy game. Upgrade your motherboard and your pentium to a dual core one (also a model of 2 Ghz is good, but not excellent). what about your videocard? I hope you had min a 8800 or Ati 4650.

I was playing the Brits in the Empire Total War, Iwas ambushed by two full armies of Hurons whilst I have a full army of vetarans; the same setting in this gameplay, my army was sandwiched in btw the two enemy huron armies, i had to act quickly, moved all the musket men back to back and FIRE!!! Ambush failed, got my Dragoons to run them down like grass!!! Ps. I like Musket action more than the automatic rifle somehow. Imagine a TOTAL WAR GAME with MODERN WARFARE, CHEAP AINT IT?

i try to focus all of my fire on one flank, while keeping the rest pinned down by cavalry. as soon as the flank collapses then spread out your infantry so that you are shooting all of them, then get your flank that corresponds to the enemys destroyed flank around the side and back

So basically, you're capping there front lines instead of just coming towards them in one straight formation? And it also helps me because when you cap them, you have more room to widen your formations and deliver more firepower. It's great how effective this tactic is.
