  • im about 2 order a short shifter for my 91 gt and my question is wen removing the old shifter do u have it on neutral or do u have it in gear????? thanks

  • If you guys are installing these yourself, you do not have to remove anything in the interior except for the shifter bezel. I took me an hour to do and that was because the old shifter needed some help to be removed with a pry bar from underneath the car. Do not pull your interior apart as it is unnecessary. Sorry to the guy in the video who had to pull all of that shit apart! It's easy....don't make it hard on yourself!

  • i liked the pro 5.0 i had in my 95gt. also had a upr in both of my foxes. now that my t5 exploded i bought a tko500, using stock tko base and steeda handle.

    BTW CHANGING A SHIFTER ON A FOX IS EASY!!!!

  • Awesome i just bought mine last nite . i believe this was the best choice out off all the short throw shifters available for the 5.0 . how is yours holding up ? has it gotten better since you first installed it

  • @danedestructo its held up i suppose, my second gear has let go due to the wonderful synchros the T-5 has so im not sure if its trans or shifter thats to blame..... then again the trans is at 99k. Next Trans i get is getting a pro 5.0. Hope you have good luck with your mgw.

  • @kilog55 The MGW was great the first 10k miles, but it just didn't wear great I guess, when it's in gear its has slop now. My friend loaned me his 5.0 for a week while he took mine, so we could comepare cars, I love his Pro 5.0. Its a night mare to get in reverse but other than that I feel it is a better quality shifter. Personally I might be getting rid of the car soon and buying a C4 Corvette, I'm looking to build a full interior sprint car and the IRS in the Vette better suites my needs.

  • @nivin69 ahh i was gonna try it out had the 5.0 in my 88, guess i may as well stick with it then, maybe add the steeda handle i hear its the perfect shifter then.

  • ha ha ha my came with one when i bought it. but they r easy to get on and off so i dont know y u said it was hard

  • you didnt have to take the whole console, radio, etc. out to install that shifter..

  • @dcFalcons51 yea you think so? cause your wrong if you want top make it easy on you youve gotta take it all out im not gonna try and do those two front bolts with a tiny wrench and 2 inches of space to turn the wrench with..... cmon dude

  • @nivin69 umm..no, i know so. you really didnt have to take it all apart, just have patience with those bolts. oh and im not the only one thats done it like this, while you on the other hand, are probably the only one that had to take everything apart..doesnt take a day to put a shifter on man..hour, tops..

  • @dcFalcons51 well like i said too 2 hours not all day, you dont like how i did it dont do it, i dont have the "patience" nor the girlish hands to get in there and waste time with it, takes 5 mines to take the center console out and have all the acces i want as opposed to 10 mins to paitiently back the bolts out.... do it your way ill do it mine have a nice day.

  • the cool thing I noticed about the mgw is the fact that they not only have a setting for height adjustment they also have a setting for side to side adjustment as well to adjust how close it is to you. that being said I would definately move it more to the left so it'd be closer to the old right leg cuz stangs have a slight reach for the shifter compared to other cars and it seems like you don't have yours set this way. as for shift knobs i've tried a lot and i like the fat knob best by far

  • ive got long arms, reach isnt really a problem, im used to gms too, so it works better this way for me.

  • @midnight347 in all honesty dude ive put 20000 on that shifter and its coming off when i rebuild my trans..... thing is garbage absolute junk.... im getting the pro 5.0

  • i hear the mgws are pretty nice and they seem to be according to this vid. I've never actually driven a stang with one though so I can't speak from experience. my stang has a pro 5.0 and I think it's awesome. I don't really notice much notchiness in it...maybe i've just gotten so used to it I don't notice. as far as the reverse thing, every stang I've ever driven had at least a small problem going into reverse. that includes stock shifters, hurst, pro 5.0 and steeda, that's all I've driven

  • $187.00 with the shifter inner dust boot $179.00 with out it. buy a spare dust boot they tear if not properly installed.

  • yes it did im gonna be picking up a fox next month for my birthday and im looking for a good short throw. My cousin has an 89 lx 5.0 5 speed and he has a short throw in it i think its a pro 5.0 because it felt very notchy and it was hard to get in reverse it felt like it was hitting a shift stop and that i had to really rip it into it. And Neutral Was Wierd it felt like the centering spings werent working some times other than that throws were nice along with the cowl induction hood it was sick

  • the pro 5.0 is alright, but i know what your saying i have a friend with one, and its a nightmare to get it in reverse and yeah its pretty much only good for wailing on the gears, not wat i needed so i got the mgw instead, id like to try the steeda tri ax but im happy with what i have for now.

  • @nivin69 how did you remove the shifter boot and bezel? i actually bought the fox off of my cousin that i had mentioned to you. i wanna take off the boot/bezel to make sure its definitely a pro 5.0 because it is a pain in the ass to get the car in reverse.

  • @brace06 the plastic piece around the boot comes off just pull it up and to take the boot off unscrew the knob and pull the boot up its like 4 minutes to do that.... now you wanna take the copnsole its self out and you dont know how to do that then send me a message and ill make a video for you on how to do it 10-4?

  • @nivin69 all rite thanks man thats what i was told to do is remove the bezel around the boot. i just wasn't sure because it feels pretty brittle

  • @nivin69 I pulled the boot and everything off this seems to be the shifter i have its a $70 short-throw it works pretty good so im not gonna change it.

  • yeah i hear its a good shifter too, I greased up my pro 5.0 yesterday.. its a bit smoother, still a little notchy tho.

  • damn i might have to try this, all tho i hate the fact at spending more since my pro 5.0 was spendy..

    and i didnt have to take my console and radio off to install mine, it was a bitch to get those bolts that hold that plate on, arrggh i dont wanna think about that.. and btw i like the stock shift knob too, it just feels right..

  • nice thing about that mgw is they have a seperate handle that makes the throw a lil bit shorter, its a good product the companys just gotta get thier act together on shipping, that and i suggest ordering 2 inner shift boots because mine to after three days, now i get to hear that t-5 whine all day long. but it is a solid product.

  • i have the pro 5.0 and it still feels a bit notchy, it works great but still feels a little notchy. i enjoy it tho.. I liked the vid tho you should do more reviews..

  • see once i did about 100 miles of driving on the mgw, it was smooth as glass.

  • i had a friend with the pro 5.0 and im not saying necessarily its bad it just wasnt something i cared for. that and the fact that i could never get reverse with the pro 5.0 really annoyed me, it took me 5 mins on time to get it, just sitting there fishing for it.
