Very nice performance, but it should be noted that this is an actual transcription of a Keith Jarrett live performance that occurred in Italy in 1997. The CD is titled La Scala, and this piano transcription has been floating about on the internet since at least 2003. Nothing wrong with a public performance of some of Keith's work I spose, but when it's a note for note transcription like this is the least that should be done is to pay homage to the actual artist, Keith Jarrett, who recorded it.
hey if anyone knows the sheet music for this version please tell me where i can find it...... im playing for the senior citizens home in a month or so and i know they would love it :)
@radiokid2 It´s funny how jazz musicians have the need to ignore "classical" music. Your preloaded questions about classical and KT´s biased answers really tell us about nothing but your ignorance. Please don´t close your ears and choose just one "side", that´s such a waste. Try listening Schumann´s fantasie by Richter, f.e. Or Beethoven´s sonatas. I listen to a lot of jazz and understand your point of view, but I guarantee that classical contains very deep things once you open your mind to it..
And anyway......Jarrett is one who sincerely express himself. This is the point I think!!! You're a good pianist but not yet a good musician!!! Being musician means showing who you are. You play Bill Evans trying to be Bill Evans and Jarrett pretending Jarrett. Try to throw those papers away from you and look inside of yourself more!!!
I'm sorry but you've just played the same notes but Jarrett's version is full of emotions which you haven't been able to express!!! It's like a painter who's able to copy "Monnalisa". He's not Leonardo!!!! At all!!! Sorry again but I think you should find your way!!!
Excellent transcritpion. Excellent version. The problem about this is that because of the transcritpion there is almost no feeling in this. But as far as it goes, very good.
I always find it a bit strange when someone plays another musician's improvisation from a transcription, escpecially when its a standard, like Over the Rainbow... the beauty of Jarretts version comes from him letting the piece take him someplace special in that very moment... that said; nice playing, and I would love to hear you play your own version!
but doubt u will find sheet music for this.you will be able to find fake sheet stuff but the chords will be basic and lacking in the exoticness of this and keith jarretts version.
Yes, it is a beautiful arrangement. And well it should be: he's reading a transcription of one of Keith Jarrett's solo piano recordings of this wonderful tune. NO ONE interprets this tune as poignantly as Jarrett. As always, thank you Keith.
Siamo fieri di essere tuoi cugini, Giacomo sei un mito....è un piacere e un'emozione sentirti suonare. Continua così e sicuramente avrai presto grandi soddisfazioni.

That's Keith Jarrett a "La Scala" version, isn't it?
TheJazzPianist 9 months ago
@TheJazzPianist It's Keith Jarrett note for note, without Jarrett's soul. Too bad.

Here is a recent interview I did with Jarrett, in case you're interested. He talks about classical vs jazz and noisy audiences!

Dear Jack, you composed the better transcription for piano of "Somewhere over the rainbow" I ever listen to.
It's even better than Jarrett's one.
Congratulations!

It's not tough to find a transcription of it. It's exactly the version of Keith Jarret's "Over the rainbow" on the CD "La Skala"

What a fucking annoying and extremely obnoxious asshole to whistle like that over someones solo performance. What a total douchebag!
