if he wants to kill the TKD master he could, but it is Buddhism philosophy to not hurt innocent life, hence as a Shaolin Buddhist monk he wouldn't hurt the other fighter. Shaolin monk's intention is to prove his worth without hurting the other fighter, in which he very well did!!
No, that's incorrect. A good martial artist can pull his kicks without hitting the target. But this monk didn't even come close with his kick in the first place. Kung Fu relies primarily on on motion sweep and visual deception. Few styles are susceptible to that, especially the more linear styles. Kung Fu is geared more towards conflict avoidance than the other styles, which expect counters. Hence the flashy but poor show in this video.
i wouldnt say he 'owned' him, he just blocked all of his kicks, which, yes was very impressive. But he barely fought back, he attacks twice, and only hits the taekwondo guy like once, gently in the chest.
This is just a show. Not a actual fight.
And no one of the technique are for acually hurting people. Like in a real fight or match. It's just "feel good" sports.
Shaolin is spiritual and tae kwon do is just a way to work out.
