It was strong enough damage wise to be a tornado. However, I was hit by a dust devil of equal strength in Michigan and was lifted about 2 to 3 feet off the ground. That is either a weak tornado or a strong dust devil.

I Get dust Devils But there never THAT Big!!! Thats a rare super dust devil! It had potential to hurt or worse seriously harm everybody there if there would have been alot of rocks on the ground. It had it's own path and yes it could have lifted up anyone and tossed them if they would have been directly underneath it.

I was picked up and thrown by a dust devil this size in New Zealand's South Island near Lauder in 2005.

It pinned me to a bull paddock fence.

Its no game of dominoes eing in one, I can tell you! But dead centre, just before I was thrown, its reaaaaally quiet and still.

In Japan there is no word for dust-devil. They just use the same term as tornado. "Tatsumaki" But it's just a poor little dust-devil. :D
