I still see the chop blocking today in tournaments and it seems to be effective. If Ma Lin uses it must be great for position blocking your opponent.

Of course it isn't. It's chop blocking. A very old-school technique for penholders you don't see that often anymore. Ma Lin still uses it.

right! thank you for clearing that up! well i thought that chop blocking is like inverted blocking but pushing down when the ball contacts your racket...
