No all Asians don't look alike. However, because some Asian countries like Korea are homogenous there is a lot of similarities so some people tend to resemble others. For someone that hasn't seen a lot of Asians it may seem that way because of the similarities. But no, all Asians don't look alike. Except Hongki and Mir. They make me do double takes sometimes.

Alot of the time, if you're not around a certain race of people, they all begin to blend together sometimes, cause I used to live in a predominately black neighborhood with some white people in there, so I never saw anything else. And I won't lie, I couldn't tell many Asians apart. But then I moved to a more diverse area, and I started to see that they all looked completely different, as expected. But that was just my experience with it.
So even your family and boyfriend think you look in someway like these people...maybe it's true and not because you're asian??? I mean, I wouldn't be worried if an asian says I look like a famous beautiful woman xDD

I had never seen her name written in hangul before lol! I've lived overseas for 10+ years (even though I'm Korean), so I don't follow Korean pop culture very much :)

you're reading way too much into things. ppl say you look like those girls because you DO look like those girls. well actually, imo you look like the girl from Perfume (the 1st one you mentioned)...the others, not so much. anyway, it's not just asian ppl who get these sorta comments....everyone gets the occasional "Hey, you really look like so and so...."
luckily I don't get this problem xD because I look more European than Japanese LOL. since I always see asians in my country, I can easily notice that everyone looks different BUT in my school, ehe, it's difficult since we all wear school uniforms and usually many girls have the same hairstyle depending on the season and fashion, and that's when I get confused. :P
If your mom mistake you, it's because you look alike and not because your Asian. Just accept it and come to terms with it. It is not going away until you stop making youtube videos or hang with people who observe j/k-pop.

I can usually tell the difference between Chinese, Japanese and Koreans in terms of their names. A name like Zhang or Wu is likely to be Chinese, Park... Korean, Hatoyama etc ... Japanese.
In terms of looking the same, knowing around 50-100 Chinese people myself (im an English language teacher) I can testify its certainly not true. Anyway the term Asian gets thrown around a lot. Asian strictly would refer to the entire continent of Asia so Iraqis, Indonesians and Kazakhs are Asian too...
Koreans and Japanese people are easy to tell the difference between them. Chinese people I still have difficulties. But I cant really say that you look similar to any Asian celebrities.
the names can help. Chinese names when translated to pinyin (the bridge between English and Chinese) tend to be shorter than Japanese names- typical Chinese surnames would be Zhang, Wu, Zhou, Ling and so on
if you get to know some people, you will know what I mean, its about perception. To Asians, Brits, Germans and Americans may look similar but we can see individual characteristics

Many people also say that all black people look alike, and I get told I look like random white celebrities all the time. Maybe its a compliment, an observation, or a way to start or conversation. Who knows? My point is, its not something that only happens to Asians. Hope you dont take this the wrong way, but I actually don't think you look like any of those people you mentioned.

I spent six months living in Vietnam and I got so good at picking people's origin I could tell the difference between someone who was from Hanoi compared to someone from Saigon. It's easy ! Oh yeah. luckily I don't get this problem xD because I look more European than Japanese LOL. since I always see asians in my country, I can easily notice that everyone looks different BUT in my school, ehe, it's difficult since we all wear school uniforms and usually many girls have the same hairstyle depending on the season and fashion, and that's when I get confused. :P

I can usually tell the difference between Chinese, Japanese and Koreans in terms of their names. A name like Zhang or Wu is likely to be Chinese, Park... Korean, Hatoyama etc ... Japanese.
In terms of looking the same, knowing around 50-100 Chinese people myself (im an English language teacher) I can testify its certainly not true. Anyway the term Asian gets thrown around a lot. Asian strictly would refer to the entire continent of Asia so Iraqis, Indonesians and Kazakhs are Asian too...

Koreans and Japanese people are easy to tell the difference between them. Chinese people I still have difficulties. But I cant really say that you look similar to any Asian celebrities.

the names can help. Chinese names when translated to pinyin (the bridge between English and Chinese) tend to be shorter than Japanese names- typical Chinese surnames would be Zhang, Wu, Zhou, Ling and so on

Asians, like white people, have different facial structures. I think that anyone unfamiliar with a certain race or ethnicity will think that those people all look the same. Many people also say that all black people look alike, and I get told I look like random white celebrities all the time. Maybe its a compliment, an observation, or a way to start or conversation. Who knows? My point is, its not something that only happens to Asians. Hope you dont take this the wrong way, but I actually don't think you look like any of those people you mentioned.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to learn the difference. I'm not Asian but I guess I'm into Asian girls because I love playing "What country does she come from" as I walk down the street. I spent six months living in Vietnam and I got so good at picking people's origin I could tell the difference between someone who was from Hanoi compared to someone from Saigon. It's easy ! Oh yeah.
