  • hi, i can try it with my emachines e625 replacing amd athlon 64 for amd athlon 64 x2? thanks

  • Wow, u should show putting it back together i have the same exact Laptop and i need a Duo processor ima get the sameone as u you but how much did this cost for the new processor And The silver Jelly.

And do another video on putting the Laptop back together

  • Hi, can you do a video showing how to disassembly the motherboard off? cuz in this video the motherboard is assembled all time until 1:41 of video

  • Hey i have the same one, e627... my specs are athlon 64 2.0ghz single 2gb ddr2 800mhz ram 160gb hdd 5,400RPM b/g wifi card my upgrade will be this turion 64x2 2.0ghz tl-60 4gb ddr2 800mhz ram 2x 2gb 500gb momentus 7,200rpm intel 6200 wifi b/g/n u think this will be a good upgrade? do u think performace will improve? and do u know if theres any batteries higher than 6-cells for this series?
  • @Grimxmetalhead Good upgrade yeah you will need to see if you can try to get a 6 cell battery as even just uprgading the cpu will decease battery life not to mention another 2 gb's of memory and a 7200 rpm hard drive it'll run very nice. Usually acer or emachines use same designs on all there comparable laptops I would google it there could be one out there that'll fit try the acre 500 series I think that's what the model numbers are not sure.

  • @27ground So u think this sounds like a good upgrade? im also painting the interior, ill post a vid of how it looks so friend me or whatever it is on here lol... ill also show old wei and new wei when im done upgrading. hows that sound?

  • OK i have just watched this video and was wondering,

can i replace my AMD Athlon TF-20 1.60 GHz processor on my emachines e625 laptop for an AMD Athlon x2 processor.

    Thanks

And also I am a 13 year old boy and i think i am capable of doing this processor change, shall i or shall i not?

  • is it ok if I try to power the laptop while it's open, after I change the processor, to see if it works? and instead of it's lcd I plug in a monitor on the vga.

  • @angrygr8 sorry for late reply by now you probably have already tested everything with the laptop not fully closed but it is ok as long as you are very careful.

  • @27ground nah.. I plan on doing this tomorrow :) thanks for the answer, it wasn't so late considering this is a 2 year old video, heh

  • @27ground I did this today, worked well, you didn't miss any detail :)

  • @angrygr8 Nice! Glad it worked.

  • thanks...I was meaning more like what MHz it could handle...Can the E627 with upgraded TI-60 CPU could go faster than PC2-6400 memory modules?

  • What is the max memory upgrade if you upgrade the CPU to T1-60?

  • @merlemagic 4 gigs max

  • tim.id.au/laptops/acer/emachines%20e627.pdf <-HERE IS THE FACTORY REPAIR MANUAL!!

  • Im looking to upgrade my e627 to the max. I have already upgraded the ram to 4GB. but I want more. what is the best duo core processor that you can put into this machine or if you could put a quad core in it? I want to be able to turn this into a gaming type laptop.

  • great video!

  • your a bufon

  • why does the computer take 250mb of ram off .If you can tell that would be great thanks gtman2500

  • @gtman2500 because the memory is shared to the graphics card also(256 MB)

  • What is the recommended processor and wireless card for the 627. i'm only asking because my processor is too slow and my wireless access is randomly kicked and i'm told that it is a problem withe the access point so any help would be appreciated i'm a heavy game player and now starting video editing so i need a reliable internet connection and more processing power oh and recommend amount of ram would help too just msg me and thanks in advanced

  • @jimmy952091 Well there really is no recommended cpu this type of upgrade will void your warranty but if your asking for my recommendation I would go with the tl-58 although I have seen succesfull installs of a tl-60 processor and the max memory would be 4gb only but what I would really look into for myself in the future would be a solid state drive but very expensive for amount of storage you get.

  • @27ground i have a 500GB seagate harddrive and for wireless card i will look into getting a better one and i will look into getting that tf-60 and ram

  • Thanks for posting this video. I have an emachines e625 and the TF-20 processor that comes with it just isn't enough to hand any of the development work that I do. Just using an external monitor and running a 2-screen application uses 100% of the cpu! I've just purchased a Turion Dual Core 1.9Ghz (Passmark's score is roughly 3x higher than the TF-20's) and I can't wait to use your videos to do the upgrade. Thanks a ton for this!

  • You can replace the wireless card with one compatible not all lapotops have the same design/shape or size. Is the wireless card not working? Acer and emachines make similar laptops I can't remember the Acer model number right now but you can use one from acer or buy a replacement wireless card on ebay.

  • Very nice video, the thing is, I was using it just to get access to the monitor and all of its connections. You see, the laptop I have is a friend of mines. She gave it to me because one of her kids stepped on the keyboard and now the monitor won't work. If I connect it to an external display it works just fine, nothing else seems to be malfunctioning. I just wanted to open it up and see if their was anything that was obviously broken. I admit I am barely starting to learn about this stuff and

  • I want to remove the wireless card and place a new one, is that posseble?

  • I have a serious problem with my computer's BIOS, and I think you might be able to help me. The BIOS files for our computers are identical. I sent you a message here on YouTube. Please email me if you can.

  • @justin20204

A s1 2ghz processor will indeed work with this laptop, however, you should try to see if the wattages match because you might encounter overheating problems if they dot match

  • Hi its Henry willis again. I am still having difficulty getting those black covers off. Do I pry them off by prying off the laptop cover? Or do I wiggle a screwdriver in between on and the cover? Because on mine there isn't much room for a flathead. Sorry about this, but could you possibly make a video response showing this in depth? I understand if you are too busy to do this.

  • Is this specific laptop compatible with anything other than a TL-58? Could it work with a 2Ghz processor as well? (Looking into upgrading to a dual core processor, would prefer it to be faster also) And yes, it is available in the S1 socket.

  • how do u remove those 3 8L screws with the black covers on them?

  • @henrywillisboit pry the plastic covers off with a small flat head screw driver they have a heavy duty adhesive on the bottom so you can just put them back how they were when you are done and they will stick. hope this helps.

  • i dont know how to spell great but is their any sawdering

  • None involved, also note that I did not apply the thermalpaste correctly, I should have used the rice grain method. Youtube "how to apply thermal paste"

  • Install was as smooth as a gravy sandwich, and not one screw left over

  • @BadAssPercyJ haha i liked that. gravy sandwich lol

  • TNX 27ground!

I payed this laptop with Athlon tf, 2GB, 250GB hard drive for 300 euros in Serbia, and Turion MK36 20 euros. it works great! TnX 4 d great tutorial!

    Best regards from Serbia!

  • waaay too much thermal paste!

  • You used far too much thermal compound. Too much can actually have a negative effect.

  • I know I started using the rice grain method but funny thing is I had always done that until recently found out I was wrong. No damage though which is good.

  • @27ground Actually the line method is more effective for multicore processors but the rice grain method is more effective for single core processors.

  • must suck to put it back together

  • thanks

  • great video. One question . Do you have to remove the LCD to get at the processor?

    Thnaks

  • Yes because under the lcd screen are 3 crews hidden under this black circled covers.

  • kinda useless without showing us how to put it all back together

  • @ryancouture Play the video in reverse.

  • I see one mistake already, use of AS5 on a chip with exposed resistors. Arctic Silver Inc dose state there very slightly capacitive in AS5 and AS doesn't met D5470-06 stander. I would have used ceramic or silicone for that. Really with 0.0025°C-in²/Watt over silicone 0.87C lower temp really going to make diff? AS5 also cost to way much for 3.5-gram over 1oz of silicone.

  • whats the cpu model that fits. is it tl-57

  • TL-50 to TL-60 can be droped in safely with good thermal compound. if your feeling adventurous you can drop in TL-62 and up. though i do believe the cut off is at 2.4ghz (the TL-66) (note: increase in clock speed will not yield MAJOR performance gains in these K8 processors, but it will feel a little snappier the higher you go)

  • @asianXboi you sure i can put a tl-66 in the emachine e627? i want to try it , and i found one on e-bay but i cant find anything else besides your comment claiming that....it makes sense to me that it would work , i am concerned about the bios on this thing, you think it will run the tl-66?

  • so a tk-57 should fint snug as a bug in a rug? i have a hp with GPU overheating issues id love to put the 1.8 dual core into the $200 emachine!

  • Leperkuan: TL-57 I think that's what you meant if not I am not familiar with the TK models and am not sure if it would work.

  • TK models should drop right in, but why a TK? TL-52 and up have double the L2 cache than the TK's.

  • Ok I finally was able to figured it out and did it, the little screws and wires dealing with the wireless card were the hardest to put back together and deal with. Thank you.

  • Oh nm I know what the palstic media card is, it is the little stock acer plastic in the multi media card read area correct? You also claimed there would be a white arrow in your video pointing the lower right screw but there was none.

  • also where exactly is the plastic media card?

  • what was your calculations per second rating with the tf-20?

  • Great guide but i don't see where it is worth the extra headache just to get windows 7 to operate correctly.. I have this laptop and I installed ubuntu 9.10 32 bit and it runs like a dream after backporting the wifi which is a couple very simple commands..

  • Is there a way you could make a reassemble video. Because I am afraid of for example pulling those lcd cables out and not being able to put them back in or remembering exactly where. You seem to pull it all the way through the hole but how hard is it squeezing it back into it?

  • thanks for the guide! i think you may have used too much AS5 though, there is a common "grain of rice" rule.

  • Your right I, had never heard of the rice grain method until recently. Funny thing is I went back to my home pc which I built and used the rice grain method and the temp dropped about 2 to 3 degrees must have been the air pockets from putting it on wrong. Thanx for posting.

  • This is so great because I plan on doing this to a eMachines E525 with a Core 2 Duo :)

  • @gadgetmang me too want to upgrade my e525 but i have to remove everything?

  • Hey men you already upgrade with TL-60? Tell me about it. With TF-20 you can run Gear of wars without a problem? In Christmas I get this laptop and I trying to find upgrades... thanks

  • No I used a Tl-56 I think or a 58 but I have heard some people use the tl-60, but no matter what you go with it'll be a MAJOR improvement from the tf-20 twice as fast boot time and all kinds of other perks.

  • There is one more screw on the motherboard on the lower right corner that needs to be removed before the MB will come out of the case. Also remember to remove the second speaker connector. Thanks, this was a lot of help!

  • @Latinsoft78 There's really not a whole lot of info on the tf-20 only that it is a single core and a step up from the atom processors found in netbooks and yeah there is a big difference you should be able to do alot more with your laptop than before. Heat should not be an issue my cpu runs at around 49c to 54 just surfing a bit warmer then before. When I stress tested the cpu for an hr it only reached 66 or 67 good considering max operating temp is 95c.
