The Timbers are the upper crust if not the best of organized fans in MLS. Look to Toronto, DC United, and Seattle to have similarly organized groups. But all MLS groups are a mix of Latin American and European influences, each with a little bit of flavor.
The sounders were in the NASL a year before the Timbers, and being from Seattle I recognize both cities are crazy about soccer. There should honestly be no debate about this at all. Both teams have a long ongoing history in the region, Seattle was lucky to join MLS before Portland, could have gone either way. But for both fan bases not to recognize that each team has an insane and raucous fan base is absurd. Wake up people!

Also it should be noted that the numbers of fans at PGE in 2007 was small. So in all actuality Portland has about as many people who've jumped on the bandwagon as Seattle.

But PGE helped to add more seating for the transition to MLS. So although we weren't selling out before our fan base was still quality, especially for a smaller american city.
