One of the symbols of Mjolnir (Thor's hammer) was the swastika. That's one reason why Hitler adopted it ;)

It also had other meanings in other cultures, such as India.

I have no problem seeing the swastika IN CONTEXT ie painted on a viking's shield when he's dressed up for war, or in an Indian temple. Out of context, it's deeply offensive because of what Hitler did; but that loathing shouldn't be carried over to the cultures that Hitler stole from.

I know the swastika was a common ornament in germanic and other cultures in the world even before the nazis, but isn't it a little bit overrepresented among those "vikings"? Especially if you consider the kid at 01:18.

The 'swastika' you see here most commonly is actually called a 'Kolovorot' in many Slav languages and represents the sun which is of all importance to an agrarian migratory people, hence it is not over represented at all. If you study anthropological annals you will see that people 1000 years ago were as-and in many cases,more-prejudicial as today for mostly the same reasons.

I know the "sun cross" that we call it where I live is common, but what I question is wether it really was as common as it seems to be in this clip. Since it would be quite hard to prove how common it was on shields (since the shields tend to rot and dissolve after a few years). From what I have seen on art from different european cultures the suncross seems more common on everyday tools and equipment than things asociated with military items, but I might be wrong, of course.
