@Juliebaker1 Her daughter's birth name is Lisa Stroud. Nina's former husband and manager was Andy Stroud who was abusive and a thief who stole her money and horribly mismanaged her career. Lisa chose to be known professionally as Simone in tribute to her mother.

Nina Simone was quite simply the best diva ever. She could transform any song into a magical experience. There will never be another singer with her depth, sensitivity, and sheer class. Yes, she could be sassy. But it is her music I revere, not her faults. RIP, dear one.
