As the Canadian Legation, Chungking, China advised Ottawa in 1944: there is no doubt that official China is determined to swallow Sinkiang, Tibet, Outer Mongolia, Kansu and Sikang, no matter what the people living in those regions may feel about the matter. The Legation added: The Chinese do not see that the attempt to compel the Tibetans to allow themselves and their country to be incorporated as an integral part of China is most definitely an act of aggression.
On behalf of all Chinese people, I want to offer the Tibetan people our sincere apologies for the cruelties inflicted upon them by the Chinese government. Tibet has never been and never will be a part of China. I hope one day Tibetans will receive the freedom that they need and deserve. I am ashamed of what the communist government and the CCP has done in Tibet. I hope that one day Tibet will again be free and regain its independence and sovereignty. I am sorry for the evils you have suffered.

""they" are the CIA. they paid dalai liar. then took some of his people and trained them to fight against china. if dalai wasnt involved then he wouldnt have took the money. is it that hard to understand?"
yes dalai liar made agreement with the CIA. between 1956 and 1972 the CIA armed and trained tibetan guerillas. before the 1959 uprising, the CIA parachuted arms and trained guerillas into eastern tibet. dalai liar maintained radio contact with the CIA during his 1959 escape to India. the funds were paid to him personally and received $US15,000 a month($US180,000 a year). he knew exactly what was going on. u cant fool someone for 16yrs.
Beijing claims that the Dalai Lama's status as a "Western pawn" is proved by CIA funding to the Tibetan resistance fighters in the 1950s and '60s. Former CIA agents Kenneth Knaus and Tom Laird have both written books on the CIA's involvement in the Tibetan guerilla resistance movement, which movement was never controlled by the pacifistic Dalai Lama.
These books and other historical documents and testimony show that the Tibetan resistance was very much an indigenous reaction by Tibetans to China's invasion of their homeland. Tibetans were willing to take any help against so large an occupying force, and the CIA's view of Tibet's utility in a global war against communism doesn't detract from the legitimacy of the Tibetan cause.
The elites of the US and other liberal democracies now prioritize trade with China, and much of their pressure to act on Tibet comes from grassroots public sympathy.
The resistance reached a symbolic culmination on March 10, 1959, when thousands of Tibetans surrounded the Dalai Lama's Norbulinka Palace to act as human shields to protect him from a rumored Chinese kidnapping plot (hardly the acts of a people longing to be rid of an oppressive Tibetan regime).
The armed resistance ended in the 1970s, at the urging of the Dalai Lama, but substantial popular resistance remains.
despite that, learn tibetan history or at least, use common sense by using shit like "before 1950, tibet was a mess and dalai ruled as a slavemaster" which cant be possible, he wasnt dalai lama before 1950

Tibet and other parts of the Tibetan community in China have long ago realized the separation of politics and religion, completed democratic reforms and set up autonomous regional governments and are now engaged in socialist democratic political construction. In contrast with such a reality, the empty talk of democracy by the Dalai Lama and his international supporters is merely a cheap garment, which they use to fool the public.
No matter how the Dalai Clique colors itself with democratic decorations, it is, in fact, still the theocratic political structure and a coalition of upper ranking monks and nobles. Does "democracy" really exist under the rule of the theocratic political structure and an alliance of monks and nobles?
"No matter how the Dalai Clique colors itself with democratic decorations, it is, in fact, still the theocratic political structure and a coalition of upper ranking monks and nobles. Does "democracy" really exist under the rule of the theocratic political structure and an alliance of monks and nobles?"
why? how many monks sit in the exile government? and how many of them were not elected??? :) have u an idea what u talking about?
dalai liar's brothers and sisters have successively served key posts in the government in exile led by the dalai liar, taking charge of important departments. five ppl from his family have served as chief bkha blon (high ranking official in the Tibetan local government in the old days) or bkha' blon. dalai liar's family and several other families control the political, economic, educational and military power of the government in exile and its key finance channels.
It seems that they began to follow the examples of the West and hold "democratic elections" and adopt "separation of powers" in recent years, but in fact, dalai liar is still the ultimate decision maker, the government in exile is still deeply connected with religion and its chief bkha' blon still can only be served by monks.
"because the 14th dalai lama always wanted a change for tibet maybe? he just hadnt the time"
HAHAHAHAHA!! and u actually asked my if i had any idea what i was talking about...u are one clueless dumbass. u dont anything about china except for all the things your mama told u during bedtime. and u dont do research...u must be an american right?
"the government in exile has nothing to do with the dalai lama"
"u dont anything about china except for all the things your mama told u during bedtime" dalai lama is not "about china" ;) lol
nope the government in exile is independent, no dalai lama! he neither went to the big meeting last month, why? because he is not into politics
tell me, what was dalais plans? :) to have "serfdom and slavery" ?? cant remember when he invented that, must be before 1950 when i was maybe 12 or 10...
you always blame the 14th dalai lama for that ^^ china is so weak! but he WASNT dalai lama before 1950 so you cant blame him, he was not in charge of anything! he came to power when china entered tibet, in the age of 16....
usually a dalai lama needs to be 18
but what do you know huh? :) keep smilling, you will cry later
hahahaha!! dont ever put dalai liar in the same sentence with the words "compassion" and "non violence". heres another fact...did u know that dalai liar took money from the CIA to train tibetans to fight against china? if u dont believe me then search it up yourself. its on the internet, official reports, books etc. type 'dalai lama and cia' on google is enough to give u a million results. compassion and non violence huh...pfff
Beijing claims that the Dalai Lama's status as a "Western pawn" is proved by CIA funding to the Tibetan resistance fighters in the 1950s and '60s. Former CIA agents Kenneth Knaus and Tom Laird have both written books on the CIA's involvement in the Tibetan guerilla resistance movement, which movement was never controlled by the pacifistic Dalai Lama.
dalai liar accepted the CIA! he accepted fuckin money in the name of violence for 10yrs! he was personally paid $186,000 a year. u dont find that fucked up? dalai liar is a fraud and a hypocrite
These books and other historical documents and testimony show that the Tibetan resistance was very much an indigenous reaction by Tibetans to China's invasion of their homeland. Tibetans were willing to take any help against so large an occupying force, and the CIA's view of Tibet's utility in a global war against communism doesn't detract from the legitimacy of the Tibetan cause.

so dont lie here about CIA and dalai lama ^^
u are nothing but a brainwashed moron from china
i dont need to talk to you, your people suffer without that alright? and yet, u dont even see that
CIA funded Mao to fight Japan. Therefore, China is part of CIA. CIA is part of US government, so China is part of USA. USA is a melting pot of Europe, Asia, Africa and therefore, China is part of Africa, Europe and of course Asia. This is profound!
wow...and u actually accused me of telling lies. u say CIA funded Mao against japan. but CIA wasnt even formed until 1947 and japan was already out of china in 1945. try again dumbass HAHAHHAHA!!
ok let me just end all your silly lies. CIA NEVER funded Mao. matter of fact, as of 1949 the US continued their support of Chiang Kai-shek and his nationalists instead of Mao and his PRC. US was fully against communists. they didnt officially recognise the PRC until 1979. hahaha u made a fool of yourself u dumbass
US supported china against the japs. but much of the fighting in china were done by the chinese. u do know that america was fighting against japan too. and the US were in more support of the nationalists and not communists.
and u the first dumbass i ever came across who says dalai liar aint involved in politics. not even a hardcore pro-tibet has said that. seriously...im speachless...so why does he continue to meet politicians around the world? u are really confused
because its YOU guys who bitch here all the time! you guys who think they need to do something! against what?? look at your own people in china, are they fine? all of them?
i would use my power for my people if i where you, and not to spread hate against the other side
LOOL its faggots like u who are jealous of china's success. go cry yourself to death about china or whatever. the fact remains that china is growing stronger and no one can stop her. i feel sorry for YOU! hahaha! and i feel sorry for your mama for giving birth to a dumbass. the bitch should get slapped
"LOOL its faggots like u who are jealous of china's success. go cry yourself bla bla bla"
ooh yeah i am soooooo jealous ^^ i wish i had to work for 18 hours per day/ 7 days a week and have 3$ at the end of the day! i wish my country would have a culture sell out to look fancy and i wish my government would treat me like shit....
Power comes from guns and numbers. 3 million unarmed tibetans vs. over a billion chinese: ha! Good luck to the freetobet movement. china sees, china likes, china gets. tibetans might do better by stop bitching and start working and getting an education and learn to speak chinese. TIBET is OVER.
you dirty hypocrate! Since 1950 till 2008, there are 58 years!!!!!! you have 58 x 365 =21170 chances to complain the "colonial policies"!
when Mao gave land to the slaves in 1950's, where were u? when chinese built the highways in 1970's where were u? (1970's was a difficult age for chinese self!) when chinese built schools and hospitals where were you? when chinese pay tax to restall your temples, where were you?!!! you are declaring independance when you get all benefit? shame on you!
its the 14th dalai lama (the one still alive today) and happend prior to 1959. dalai liar, then chief representative of the feudal serfdom and leader of the local government, never cared about democracy or human rights. it was due to the fear of democratic reform by china to abolish slavery that dalai liar and the ruling clique launched an armed rebellion in 1959 and went into exile abroad after its failure. thats why its very fuckin funny everytime he brags about human rights
The armed resistance ended in the 1970s, at the urging of the Dalai Lama, but substantial popular resistance remains. This resistance has taken many forms over the years: pro-independence demonstrations, postering, mass non-cooperation, economic boycott, and risking the perilous Himalayan crossing to live as refugees self-exiled from their own homeland.
Indeed it was the Tibetan peasantry, the very group the Chinese "liberation" was said to have helped, who formed the core of the popular resistance to the Chinese occupation. By 1959, a guerilla resistance movement called Chushi Gangdruk ("Four Rivers, Six Ranges") that started in eastern Tibet had spread nation-wide.
The resistance reached a symbolic culmination on March 10, 1959, when thousands of Tibetans surrounded the Dalai Lama's Norbulinka Palace to act as human shields to protect him from a rumored Chinese kidnapping plot (hardly the acts of a people longing to be rid of an oppressive Tibetan regime).
thats the problem with theocracy rule. tibetans are made to believe that everything they do is for their god. going against dalai liar is like going againt their god's will. that gives dalai liar the power to do anything he likes. even making his own ppl live as slaves. yet its all justified becuz hes a religious leader. did u hear how he prosecute Shugden worshippers? what happened to religious freedom he brags about huh?
"even making his own ppl live as slaves. yet its all justified becuz hes a religious leader. did u hear how he prosecute Shugden worshippers? what happened to religious freedom he brags about huh?"
2 lies at once
he prosecute shugden worshippers in which way and how?
and how could he make his own people live as slaves? when? 1950 he came to power, after china entered in tibet and claimed power for it! so when??? tell us
when i said that tibetans lived in serfdom, its basically the same as slavery. go search up the word "serfdom". the serfdom/slavery system wasnt abolished until 1959 by the chinese and the population of tibetans grew since then.
dalai liar had been persecuting or banning worshippers of a deity of tibetan buddhism, dorje shugden. there were even accusations of blackmailing shugden worshippers to give up their religious beliefs. by 1996, dorje shugden worship was effectively outlawed
"when i said that tibetans lived in serfdom, its basically the same as slavery. go search up the word "serfdom". the serfdom/slavery system wasnt abolished until 1959 by the chinese and the population of tibetans grew since then."
XD whahahahahahahaha yeeeah
china brought chinese culture to tibet by building chinese brothels with chinese whores and you talk nonsense XD
tell me how could theocracy turn itself into democracy? and do u know what would happen if a religious leader takes control of a muslim coutry? anyone who resists against the religious leader will be punished severly becuz they are resisting against the will of allah. that was what tibet was like under dalai liar. religion must never get involved with politics. its common sense
Beijing (as well as sympathetic Western scholars such as Michael Parenti, Tom Grunfeld and Anna Louise Strong) asserts that "pre-liberation" Tibet was a medieval, oppressive society consisting of "landowners, serfs and slaves." Tashi Rabgay, a Tibetan scholar at Harvard, points out that these three alleged social classes are arbitrary and revisionist classifications that have no basis in reality.
There were indeed indentured farmers in old Tibet. There were also merchants, nomads, traders, non-indentured farmers, hunters, bandits, monks, nuns, musicians, aristocrats and artists. Tibetan society was a vast, multifaceted affair, as real societies tend to be. To try to reduce it to three base experiences (and non-representative experiences at that) is to engage in the worst kind of revisionism.
No country is perfect and many Tibetans (including the Dalai Lama) admit that old Tibet had its flaws and inequities (setting aside whether things are better under Chinese occupation). But taking every real or imagined shortcoming that happened in a country over a 600-year period and labeling it the "way it was" is hardly legitimate history. Any society seen through this blurry lens would come up short.
And in many ways, such as the elimination of the death penalty, Tibet was perhaps ahead of its time. The young 14th Dalai Lama had begun to promote land reform laws and other improvements, but China's take-over halted these advances. It is instructive to note that today the Tibetan government-in-exile is a democracy while China and Tibet are under communist dictatorship.
The crucial subtext of Beijing's condemnation of Tibet's "feudal" past is a classic colonialist argument that the target's alleged backwardness serves as a justification for invasion and occupation.
These are the politics of the colonist, in which the "native" is dehumanized, robbed of agency, and debased in order to make occupation more palatable or even necessary and "civilizing." China has no more right to occupy a "backward" Tibet than Britain had to carry the "white man's burden" in India or Hong Kong.
people visit my page, dont waste your time here with the uneducated CCP cocksuckers
yes,the tibetan religon is just like the islame in the arabic countries, brucial and extreme.and the dalai lama is just like the religious leader in iran.if he got the power again, the world will be more dangerous.
Forgive the limited western mind. How can different ethnic groups live in one country in peace? It's not making sense to him. My confusion is how are all these complaints about China related to the Tibet issue? Sounds like someone just wanted to throw some "facts" out there. Good pick on the "facts" by the way. They are sensational.
China will go on and stay strong... HAHA don't make me laugh~ Tibet was an empire? um... read your history books... that was like thousands of years ago =o= Lemme see... How about we give the land back to the First Nations since North America belonged to them :) FREE THE NATIVES!
Yes, Tibet was an Empire before the Chinese invasion. Let me guess, you're Han Chinese?
There is no Free the Natives movement in North America (though it would have merit). We read history books, just not the ones that Mao and his evil dictatorship forced on us. China and Tibet were friends until the invasion in 53. Why does China want to make so many enemies? Oh yeah, same reason the US does, for the natural resources. Scumbags.
Um... Natural resources? Don't make me laugh. The region of Tibet is not rich with natural resources. The area is kind of rural and I'm sure there are still natural resources but that's not the reason =_=;;;; And haha, it's funny seeing how westerners like you think the Chinese are still stuck during the period of Mao and his dictatorship. Anyways it was entertaining reading your biased views =) BTW, go read something about Tibet's history that's NOT written by some stupid brainwashed foreigner.
NEWSFLASH: one of the world's largest natural deposit of uranium was found in Tibet. That is tantamount to China's nuclear ambitions realized in the world's most peaceful place. When I lived there, there were mineral mines being stripped off the mountainsides everywhere. Yes, I read Tibetan history by Tibetans NOT THE CRAP APPROVED BY THE MINISTRY OF PROPAGANDA AND EDUCATION. Free your mind.
Pictures from Nepal and Africa. Gooooood, a stupid westen video. Cry aloud, more, OK? However, Tibet is a part of China, u can just cry and never change the truth. Come on, we like listening different voice. Cry aloud, LOL.
cry all you want, you separatists who has no citizenships whatsoever. Now, Westerners have done using Tibet issue to disgrace China for a few days. China will move on, the World will move on.... Tibet will remain part of China forever...people in Tibet will move on to a better tomorrow only those ones got kicked out of Tibet like Dali lama can only admire and dream of.... you guys can also move on kissing the white sssssss
untruthful documentary; misleading; typical western imperialist/post-imperialist view that wishfully supresses any uprising of other countries in the modern world.
no its people like you that go around talking about CIA crap in every video that has nothing to do with anything making baised comments with little proof in anything.
What the Fuck does Tank man have to do with Fucking Tibet? Have anyone fucking westerner EVER saw the complete fucking movie with that guy climbing all over the tank and walking away in the end? Stupid fucking western media!
As for freedom of Religion, Tibentans do have, although no encouragement. For freedom of speech, not only Tibentans, other chinese people do not enjoy that as well. Therefore, no reason to focus on Tibet.

It seems that they began to follow the examples of the West and hold "democratic elections" and adopt "separation of powers" in recent years, but in fact, dalai liar is still the ultimate decision maker, the government in exile is still deeply connected with religion and its chief bkha' blon still can only be served by monks.
hcn9 3 years ago
the government in exile has nothing to do with the dalai lama ^^ whatever you say...
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
"because the 14th dalai lama always wanted a change for tibet maybe? he just hadnt the time"
HAHAHAHAHA!! and u actually asked my if i had any idea what i was talking about...u are one clueless dumbass. u dont anything about china except for all the things your mama told u during bedtime. and u dont do research...u must be an american right?
"the government in exile has nothing to do with the dalai lama"
wtf? its got everything to do with dalai liar
hcn9 3 years ago
"u dont anything about china except for all the things your mama told u during bedtime" dalai lama is not "about china" ;) lol
nope the government in exile is independent, no dalai lama! he neither went to the big meeting last month, why? because he is not into politics
tell me, what was dalais plans? :) to have "serfdom and slavery" ?? cant remember when he invented that, must be before 1950 when i was maybe 12 or 10...
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
i mean when HE was 12 or 10
you always blame the 14th dalai lama for that ^^ china is so weak! but he WASNT dalai lama before 1950 so you cant blame him, he was not in charge of anything! he came to power when china entered tibet, in the age of 16....
usually a dalai lama needs to be 18
but what do you know huh? :) keep smilling, you will cry later
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
and he wanted to change tibet, but china allready was in tibet and wanted to put their own government in charge... so he couldnt change anything...
but thats good, so you can blame and lie about him huh? ;) yeah mao was such a wiiiiise man compared to the tenzin gyatso
he just systematicly wiped out your own brothers and sisters if they didnt match..
thats way better than compassion and non violence
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
hahahaha!! dont ever put dalai liar in the same sentence with the words "compassion" and "non violence". heres another fact...did u know that dalai liar took money from the CIA to train tibetans to fight against china? if u dont believe me then search it up yourself. its on the internet, official reports, books etc. type 'dalai lama and cia' on google is enough to give u a million results. compassion and non violence huh...pfff
hcn9 3 years ago
Beijing claims that the Dalai Lama's status as a "Western pawn" is proved by CIA funding to the Tibetan resistance fighters in the 1950s and '60s. Former CIA agents Kenneth Knaus and Tom Laird have both written books on the CIA's involvement in the Tibetan guerilla resistance movement, which movement was never controlled by the pacifistic Dalai Lama.
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
dalai liar accepted the CIA! he accepted fuckin money in the name of violence for 10yrs! he was personally paid $186,000 a year. u dont find that fucked up? dalai liar is a fraud and a hypocrite
hcn9 3 years ago
"dalai liar accepted the CIA! he accepted fuckin money in the name of violence for 10yrs!"
oh yes, sure... the dalai lama is so extremly violent.. he preaches violence, he uses violence and he always says "be violent!"
right?
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
These books and other historical documents and testimony show that the Tibetan resistance was very much an indigenous reaction by Tibetans to China's invasion of their homeland. Tibetans were willing to take any help against so large an occupying force, and the CIA's view of Tibet's utility in a global war against communism doesn't detract from the legitimacy of the Tibetan cause.
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
The elites of the US and other liberal democracies now prioritize trade with China, and much of their pressure to act on Tibet comes from grassroots public sympathy.
so dont lie here about CIA and dalai lama ^^
u are nothing but a brainwashed moron from china

CIA funded Mao to fight Japan. Therefore, China is part of CIA. CIA is part of US government, so China is part of USA. USA is a melting pot of Europe, Asia, Africa and therefore, China is part of Africa, Europe and of course Asia. This is profound!
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
"CIA funded Mao to fight Japan"
wow...and u actually accused me of telling lies. u say CIA funded Mao against japan. but CIA wasnt even formed until 1947 and japan was already out of china in 1945. try again dumbass HAHAHHAHA!!

was mao fighting japan or the united states? ;) they funded him to use him
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
ok let me just end all your silly lies. CIA NEVER funded Mao. matter of fact, as of 1949 the US continued their support of Chiang Kai-shek and his nationalists instead of Mao and his PRC. US was fully against communists. they didnt officially recognise the PRC until 1979. hahaha u made a fool of yourself u dumbass
hcn9 3 years ago
hmm crazy... who helped china in WW2 against the japanese?? ronald mc donald?
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
US supported china against the japs. but much of the fighting in china were done by the chinese. u do know that america was fighting against japan too. and the US were in more support of the nationalists and not communists.

why dont u tell us how they lived back then? i bet we are all couriously about what you have to say
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
- 95% of tibetans lived as serfs and extreme poverty under the theocratic rule of dalai liar, who lived in luxery
- tibetans had no basic human rights or freedom
- tibetans had no education or healthcare
- tibetans were tortured (eye gouging) as punishments
- tibetans were attached to the land (owned by a lord or lama) and cannot move away
- despite their poverty, they were heavily taxed
no doubt u gonna reply with some ccp brainwashed BS or whatever. come up with a decent reply for once bitch
hcn9 3 years ago
"95% of tibetans lived as serfs and extreme poverty under the theocratic rule of dalai liar, who lived in luxery"
which dalai lama and which year? :)
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
its the 14th dalai lama (the one still alive today) and happend prior to 1959. dalai liar, then chief representative of the feudal serfdom and leader of the local government, never cared about democracy or human rights. it was due to the fear of democratic reform by china to abolish slavery that dalai liar and the ruling clique launched an armed rebellion in 1959 and went into exile abroad after its failure. thats why its very fuckin funny everytime he brags about human rights
hcn9 3 years ago
"its the 14th dalai lama (the one still alive today) and happend prior to 1959"
crazy... china always claims that "look how tibet looked before 1959" and you say happened prior to 59? when did the 14th dalai lama came to power???

The armed resistance ended in the 1970s, at the urging of the Dalai Lama, but substantial popular resistance remains. This resistance has taken many forms over the years: pro-independence demonstrations, postering, mass non-cooperation, economic boycott, and risking the perilous Himalayan crossing to live as refugees self-exiled from their own homeland.
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
Indeed it was the Tibetan peasantry, the very group the Chinese "liberation" was said to have helped, who formed the core of the popular resistance to the Chinese occupation. By 1959, a guerilla resistance movement called Chushi Gangdruk ("Four Rivers, Six Ranges") that started in eastern Tibet had spread nation-wide.
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
The resistance reached a symbolic culmination on March 10, 1959, when thousands of Tibetans surrounded the Dalai Lama's Norbulinka Palace to act as human shields to protect him from a rumored Chinese kidnapping plot (hardly the acts of a people longing to be rid of an oppressive Tibetan regime).
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
thats the problem with theocracy rule. tibetans are made to believe that everything they do is for their god. going against dalai liar is like going againt their god's will. that gives dalai liar the power to do anything he likes. even making his own ppl live as slaves. yet its all justified becuz hes a religious leader. did u hear how he prosecute Shugden worshippers? what happened to religious freedom he brags about huh?
hcn9 3 years ago
"even making his own ppl live as slaves. yet its all justified becuz hes a religious leader. did u hear how he prosecute Shugden worshippers? what happened to religious freedom he brags about huh?"
2 lies at once
he prosecute shugden worshippers in which way and how?
and how could he make his own people live as slaves? when? 1950 he came to power, after china entered in tibet and claimed power for it! so when??? tell us
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
when i said that tibetans lived in serfdom, its basically the same as slavery. go search up the word "serfdom". the serfdom/slavery system wasnt abolished until 1959 by the chinese and the population of tibetans grew since then.
dalai liar had been persecuting or banning worshippers of a deity of tibetan buddhism, dorje shugden. there were even accusations of blackmailing shugden worshippers to give up their religious beliefs. by 1996, dorje shugden worship was effectively outlawed
hcn9 3 years ago

but its the reality :)
you pricks always use "oh we made tibet so modern, we developed it by building schools and hospitals"
and also brothels
something else? thats chinese culture i guess
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
"the serfdom/slavery system wasnt abolished until 1959 by the chinese and the population of tibetans grew since then"
sure thats true :) now tell me, how long had the 14th dalai lama after he came to power, to change the serfdom and slavery into democracy in tibet??
10minutes? 9 years under chinese pressure?
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
tell me how could theocracy turn itself into democracy? and do u know what would happen if a religious leader takes control of a muslim coutry? anyone who resists against the religious leader will be punished severly becuz they are resisting against the will of allah. that was what tibet was like under dalai liar. religion must never get involved with politics. its common sense
hcn9 3 years ago
"tell me how could theocracy turn itself into democracy?"
there goes your common sense??
because the 14th dalai lama always wanted a change for tibet maybe? he just hadnt the time
how comes that china still has communism today?? isnt that backwards politics??? :/
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago

Ganeschar 2 years ago
Beijing (as well as sympathetic Western scholars such as Michael Parenti, Tom Grunfeld and Anna Louise Strong) asserts that "pre-liberation" Tibet was a medieval, oppressive society consisting of "landowners, serfs and slaves." Tashi Rabgay, a Tibetan scholar at Harvard, points out that these three alleged social classes are arbitrary and revisionist classifications that have no basis in reality.
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
There were indeed indentured farmers in old Tibet. There were also merchants, nomads, traders, non-indentured farmers, hunters, bandits, monks, nuns, musicians, aristocrats and artists. Tibetan society was a vast, multifaceted affair, as real societies tend to be. To try to reduce it to three base experiences (and non-representative experiences at that) is to engage in the worst kind of revisionism.
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
No country is perfect and many Tibetans (including the Dalai Lama) admit that old Tibet had its flaws and inequities (setting aside whether things are better under Chinese occupation). But taking every real or imagined shortcoming that happened in a country over a 600-year period and labeling it the "way it was" is hardly legitimate history. Any society seen through this blurry lens would come up short.
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
And in many ways, such as the elimination of the death penalty, Tibet was perhaps ahead of its time. The young 14th Dalai Lama had begun to promote land reform laws and other improvements, but China's take-over halted these advances. It is instructive to note that today the Tibetan government-in-exile is a democracy while China and Tibet are under communist dictatorship.
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
The crucial subtext of Beijing's condemnation of Tibet's "feudal" past is a classic colonialist argument that the target's alleged backwardness serves as a justification for invasion and occupation.
TheMightyGuri 3 years ago
These are the politics of the colonist, in which the "native" is dehumanized, robbed of agency, and debased in order to make occupation more palatable or even necessary and "civilizing." China has no more right to occupy a "backward" Tibet than Britain had to carry the "white man's burden" in India or Hong Kong.

MinTChocolatEChunkS 3 years ago
Yes, Tibet was an Empire before the Chinese invasion. Let me guess, you're Han Chinese?
There is no Free the Natives movement in North America (though it would have merit). We read history books, just not the ones that Mao and his evil dictatorship forced on us. China and Tibet were friends until the invasion in 53. Why does China want to make so many enemies? Oh yeah, same reason the US does, for the natural resources. Scumbags.
JDBONA 3 years ago
