so i would be able to troll with my 2hp motor?? with i mean with troll is just putting the lure in the water and ride the motor until the fish takes a bite to the lure
cold weather means stable water conditions. perfect for Maryland and Virginia bass. Also, catfish, pickerel, pike, and sunfish bite well in the cold. Find fish, fish small natural baits with a slow/finesse presentation...BAM!!! watch out, big fish TIME!!!
HELLZ YA!!! 3.3HP is more than enough power for a 12.5 foot portabote. remember that the hull is limited to weight and speed. basically, the boat is not designed for high-speed. she putts around just fine.
she will troll easily with a 3.3 HP at idle. hell, i troll with my electric motor. i just use the gas motor to get me where i am going.
even the portabote does not excel in the speed department, she makes one fine fishing boat.
i accidently removed your 2HP question. the short answer...YES, a portabote will move fine with a 2HP motor. she will not be fast, but you will have a reasonable striking range within a 2 mile radius.
it may not be good in rivers with a decent current. and it wont be good in lakes where you have to travel long distances (in a timely fashion.)
you cant be the ulta light-weight of a 2 HP. i thought long and hard of getting a honda 2HP to compliment my 5 HP nissan.
I took my 14 ft portabote out with a trolling motor we tooled all over the area but is is slow going. Not recommended if you have to cross a river with faster boats in the area I was crossing the river and those faster boats were on me almost instantly.
I have since gotten a gas powered 2.5 What is great about my PB is i can use a small economy car to transport to the best fishing I can get 35 mpg on a fishing trip. I don't have to own a PU truck can launch anywhere.
it is a very practical fishing boat. it does the job and fills a niche. sure, i like the utmost convenience of a kayak, but sometimes i have to take my portabote out.
my 12.5 footer fully loaded goes about 8mph with a 5HP 4 stroke. this includes two adults, two mondo RV deep cycle batteries, 3.5 gallon live well, 3 gallon gas tank, 55 pound outboard, sonar, gear, and minnkota electric motor.
portabotes are not fast. but they sure make great fishing boats. mine is stable, and fishes one or two adults easily and comfortably.
my portabote is 9 years old. i paid 1000 bucks for it new back in the day. i dont know how much the 12 footer costs now a days, but you can go to cabelas online and price them. this was just the cost of the boat. the outboard and all accessories are extra. cabelas has all the other accessories as well.
I want a portabote ....but your soundtrack is a wreck
