  • He didn't know the cascade, did he? Because he always juggled 4 or 6 objects and when juggling 5 he did 64.

  • Before YouTube it was super rare to find someone with access to this footage. In fact, this is the first time I've seen it in it's entirety. You used to get small clips pasted into a larger video about juggling. Thanks so much for posting and preserving this. It took the juggling world about 60 years to catch up to the level of Rastelli.

  • Not sure if he's still the world record holder but I remember him being in the old Guinness books (around 1980) for multiple world juggling records for balls, clubs, rings, etc. I wonder if any of those records were videoed? I'm amazed that I still remembered his name and decided to search for him on youtube! Thanks for the footage! Closes yet another gap in my memory.

  • @shanilmisra I think that the footage in this video is pretty much all that exists. Also, I think some of the records listed for him by Guinness aren't true. It is not known whether he juggled 10 balls or simply flashed it (big difference). Guinness don't always make the distinction.

  • 4:29... fist contact juggler???????? o_O'!¿?

  • Enrico Rastelli was my great-grandmother's cousin. it's amazing that i'm related to this man. too bad i'm not as talented as him !

  • O rastelli what do i hav too doo too B U aagAn.

  • he's SO cool! *0* talk about multi-tasking!

  • for my opinion number one story juggler complete exercise.

  • awesome :)

  • Ronaldo.

  • wow...im amazed

  • It's like, no, seriously, the heck?, but how that he, is it?, but how he, like damn the NO, can it be what?

  • @Yardiggan I'm not sure if you know what you've done but I think you've just created my favorite YouTube comment of all time!! :)

  • ectraornair wanderful i like that so cooool

  • ...Wow.

  • i wonder if they`are more videos about him

  • He probly died from brain damage....all those balls hitting his head could do something

  • master!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How did he die?

    Natural reasons?

  • He was in his 30s. Nobody is quite sure how he died. Some say he got an infection from a dirty mouth stick.

  • That must have been awful.

  • He had an infection in his mouth, from juggling with his teeth, and traverling around working with this infection the peleciline that he was supposed to receive to cure the infection did not arrived on time, allthogh he was the best paid juggler in those days, peleciline was hard to get,and the post I imagine that it was quite slow at that time, this is the version I have been told from old rastelli fans.

  • Penicillin wasn't available for treatment until at least 1941.

  • @angelegea I read in a juggling book he died from Pneumonia. That was a pretty serioud thing to catch back then so it kind of makes sense. Still, sad.

  • I found out now.

He died December 13, 1931, as a result of anemia.

  • @peterbone I had read one juggling book and there was some information about Enrico Rastelli. And the book said that he died, cause he got a infection from the mouth stick he used in his performance.

  • Fire juggling, contakt juggling, football juggling, this man juggles like 5 modern juggler together.

    Respect!!!

  • Enrico Rastelli was working his one hour show in Germany,my grandfather traveled from Spain to see him,and brought back on a notepad tricks and techniques, soon he was working them on stage, skipping rope and ball, mouth stick combinations, two balls bouncing on his head etc...now these techniques are reflected in my act. like many jugglers from the past,Ernest Montego,Francis Brunn.Bob Bransom,Bernardo Egea,I concider myself a remix of history and Rastelli is part of my mix, for me one of the best.

  • Your ispirations are quite evident :-) Do you still have the notebooks of your grandfather? They could be interesting for the juggling community...

  • Check Freestyle Football Tricks

  • wow this guy is amazing =)

  • ese tenia k ser mi pupilo ps !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Surely he wasn't actually born on planet Earth? That'd be a ridiculous thing to suggest

  • this is some good footage for the 30s

  • actually theres quite a lot of people who are at least eighty years in this country, well at least in my family.

  • I find this unlikely as he died in 1931. You would have to be at least 80 years old to remember seeing him. If so then you're probably one of only a few living people to have seen him in person.

  • blackpool tower? I doubt he would have been contracted at that place. I just cant see that.

  • The Rastelli family were, for many years, a fixture at Blackpool Tower Circus into the 1980s, at least.

  • I remember seeing this guy whan I was a kid. It was either Belle Vue or Blackpool Tower

Thanks so much for the posting.

  • my idol...

  • thats actually my great uncle

  • Thanks for posting this! There's probably not a lot of video of this guy!

  • diosmíodemivida

  • Wow! I never knew there was recorded video. Shame his mouthpiece caused the fatal infection...thanks for the upload!

  • Palle once said he saw a someone doing headers with two balls, but he didn't know who. 4elovek, you know Palle, right?

If anyone doesn't know him, be sure to check him out

  • I quite enjoy how he does always does 64 when he uses 5 props.

  • To me he is was more of a magician than a juggler. What he did just looked supernatural. I think he saw things in "bullet time".

  • Yes, he was good but do you realise that the video is speeded up?

  • Of course. It was filmed in a archaic frame rate I'm sure. Unless the objects seen in the video were digitallyl added, I'm still just as impressed.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this historical footage of Rastelli...Many have heard of Rastelli's talent but never have seen the master at work...Enrico was Bobby May's idol.Bobby showed me one of Enrico's sticks given to him by Enrico. Rastelli died at 34.

  • incredable!!!

  • holy s#!t !!! such style, such grace, infinite creativity, and so long ago!! this is mindbogglingly amazing!!! i'm so glad the camera was invented before he passed... thanks for posting this!

  • whats the highest number of objects he ever juggled

  • 10, i thimk

  • Is that the best question you have to ask?

  • Wow, amazing. That's the most Rastelli I've seen, thanks for sharing it!

  • at 6:45 the worlds first ATW(around the world)? hahaa NICE!!!

  • It's not the first one ;)

  • he died over 70 years ago im sure your allowed after that amout of time

  • Yeah, isn't copyright 60 years? Anyway, the person who filmed this probably never bought a copyright for it.

  • copyright is automatic, you don't need to "buy" a copyright.

  • But you do need to register it, no?

  • if the owners dont no about it, you can

  • what do you care? This is obviously a VERY historic piece for one and all to enjoy. Its important that the younger generation know about the pioneers. i dont think this was posted up in some evil money grubbing scram dude lol. Chill a bit, ya silly rabbit!

    Bribe

  • Thank you for posting this.

  • I love how he juggles 5.

  • This footage was bound to end up on the internet at some point in time. Thank you very much for being the one to put it up on the net, Peter, and thank you for continuing his legacy the way you do. Your 864 rocks! it´s my favourite!

  • this guy is bananas. the 6 plates w/ leg ring and jumprope is nuts. and the foot-sole stalls in handstand are unbelievable. anybody know what his mini proto-clubs are made of?

  • They're just wooden sticks. I saw them on display at a circus exhibit in Kansas City once.

  • omg!!he owns

  • cool u rock peter bone nice website

  • amazing, I can see where Gatto got his inspiration and ideas from. Was he the first to do all those tricks? The inventor?

  • Thanks Peter, and thanks to everybody that's posting historical juggling footage!

  • Thanks for posting, Peter.

  • GUAUUUU Thanyou very very much Peter...

  • Yeah, thanks for the video.

  • Respect to Rastelli.

Peter, thank you for posting this video.

  • Hey Peter! THANKS SO MUCH! he really was incredible? Do you have a download version?

  • I probably wasn't supposed to upload this so I put it on youtube but I'll think about providing a download version.

  • SEVEN MINUTES!!! where did you get this?

  • I was amazed when I saw this too and I couldn't believe it wasn't on the internet. I think this is probably nearly all the footage of Rastelli that exists. I'm guessing that it originally came from the Karl Heinz collection. There's some analogue noise that must have got there between conversion from celuloid to analogue and conversion from analogue to digital so there's probably a higher quality version somewhere.

  • Anything i write would be an understatement.

I've never seen this much footage of Enrico Rastelli.

    Thanks.
