@IloveyouLenaKatina It doesn't mean the same thing. "Under (the) covers" is under your blankets in bed. "Under cover" is like when a cop pretends to be a normal civilian or when someone lies about their identity to get to the heart of a crime.

It seems to me that "lie under (the) covers" together makes more sense from when they were "friends." Why would you lie about your identity when you are friends?

@IloveyouLenaKatina No, it doesn't make ANY sense. going under cover is something a team does; you don't lie to friends and family... You just don't get it because you're not native. When they were under cover, they were working as a team. They don't anymore because they're not a team anymore.

@EvilKarmaAngel I AM a native English speaker! I was trying to learn what you think the meaning of the line is without pushing my opinion or offending you. Ok so they used to work as a team together yes, okay, but why under cover? t.A.T.u. was a crime? Then again, if a t.A.T.u. fan wanted to, you could make the argument for "we used to lie under cover" as sleeping together, which they did A LOT...I don't mean sex, I mean literally sharing beds in the hotel hundreds of time.

@IloveyouLenaKatina If you're a native English speaker, then you don't pay attention to it much since you should have noticed that "under covers" doesn't mean anything unless it's "under THE covers". The song is not referring to the project; if you look at the music videos and imagine a background story, it makes sense. It doesn't reflect on the girls' lives because the songs weren't written by them, and I highly doubt they were written specifically for the tATu project.
